View Full Version : Cowboys Fans: Am I missing something about Sunday's Game?

If Washington wins, they will make the playoffs as the 2nd Wild Card and play Seattle. If they win that game as they should we have to play a red hot Redskins team, winners of 5 straight by then. They should just play to win on Sunday and knock the Skins out. This may also be wishful thinking on my part. I was given tickets to the game by my wife this morning and want to see a good game. Should they roll over or play to win now?

Play everyone and hope for injuries. :D

Would you rather have a chance at playing the Skins or Adrian peterson and the Vikings?

Peterson has been averaging about -2 yards per carry lately.

plus, playing against the vikings means you get to play against Tavares Jackson, thats much better than playing the skins.

Hmm...

A) I see the Skins playing solid football. Hot? No. Just playing good football.
B) No way is there any credence to the statement "Skins should win that one" in context of beating the Seahawks. Anyone saying that clearly has not watched the Seahawks for several weeks. Outside of the Carolina game last week, Seattle has been playing some of the best football in the league since before Thanksgiving.
C) You're the freakin' Cowboys. Even you send out the practice squad next week and give up a gimme game, you're 13-3. If you're worried about the Skins with this team, don't even bother to show up for the playoffs.

Plus you need to be more worried about either Tampa or the Giants as that will most likely be your first opponent...

(seeing it's Cowboys fans, I understand the need to hold their hand when matters of thinking come up... :D )

The 'Skins stink. That might be what you're missing.

Oh, and as a reminder, both the Skins and the Vikings, whichever make it, will be suffering from "We Already Won Our Super Bowl" syndrome. That's when a team does something amazing, then calls it a season and goes home Teams that shouldn't have made the playoffs, then make it it, before going home. MMaybe they win that one game, then dial it in later (see: Arizona Cardinals when Plummer managed to defeat the Cowboys on the road, and then watch the next game. Classic example of giving up and going home).

This syndrome does not apply to teams that honestly believe they can make it to the Super Bowl. Even if you were a combined 0-1000 over your last ten seasons, if you go 14-2 this season, you think you can win it all, but go 9-7 and make it in as the 6 seed, and you already won your Super Bowl, you just dial it in. Hence, the Rams never dialed it in, because although they were sucking like Darjeling during the previous years, they were dominant in their break out season.

First priority is get everyone healthy. When everyone's healthy, it doesn't matter who we face in the playoffs...

Of the potential division round matchups for Dallas, the teams I'd most love to see would be in order: Vikings, Giants, Saints / Bucs, Redskins. Dallas doesn't cover Cooley well and the Redskins don't turn the ball over much since Collins has been their QB.

Peterson has been averaging about -2 yards per carry lately.

Classic Peterson. When you give him room to run, he will destroy you like nobody else can. But, make stopping him the priority, and he's invisible. He's just not elusive at all and has substandard vision. He'll just run to the called hole and right into a LB if you let him.

Look at his highlights this year. Almost always, his OL will be pushing people 5 yards downfield, he'll have a full head of steam, and guys will bounce of the side of him. He'll be hit or miss his entire career, until he hurts himself and has to retire.

That being said, I would not choose to play him in the playoffs, ever.

The Seahawks are overrated. I mean what if you watched the Seahawks two weeks ago? Yeah, they were a real powerhouse when they lost to Carolina. Oh, beating up on the Rams and Ravens is real impressive.

Give me a break.

I defer to IMTG, since he is the most unbiased poster on this site in regard to Adrian Peterson.

You know a football theory is awesome when someone uses the Arizona Cardinals as a basis.

Got it. So pick one game outta the last seven and base your opinion around that, instead of noting that they have won six of seven, winning by 2 TDs on average in those six wins? Do you like to just pick the one thing that supports your argument and ignore the mountain of contrary evidence, or is that just in this one instance?

Yeah, so they took a shit when they went to Carolina. They are still playing some good football, and no one should be saying the Skins should beat the Seahawks, given that.

And, no, I am not a Seahawks fan at all. In fact, I'll be rooting for the Cowboys from the NFC.

In case your hair seems out of place, that was the point sailing over your head again. I have only been arguing for the Hawks not being a "game the Skins should win", from the original poster's argument. You seem to be acting like I am picking them to go to the Super Bowl or something. I only said they have been playing some of the better football in the league the past few weeks, and that is still true. Your post only proves it more. Thanks for the game by game breakdown, saves me the work.

Depends on the line.

For the record, I won a ton of money that playoff/bowl season a 2 years ago. All of it is documented online in the dynasty forum.

With that being said, I did take the Skins over the Hawks 2 years ago and lost a good bit of coin. :(

I don't think the skins are that great, but I also don't think the Hawks are that great either. Most likely, I won't touch the game.
