VERY slow internet speed

Am I the only one who is getting very slow speeds today? It's slow at home and at work, so it's not just an ISP or modem problem. The only problem I can think of is that it's my wireless card. I just got a new laptop yesterday (traded in the one I got 2 months ago). I don't know anything about wireless cards, but could a crappy card affect speed so significantly.
