I actually wrote this to CGOnline.

I just got my Computer Games Mag for April, 2003. In the back, there's a couple of very weird ads for a couple of very weird games. They have to be pranks, but why are they there?

On pgs. 83-84, there's ads for Nazgul Thunder 2003 and Cthulhu Karts. There couldn't be licensing for these two products. On pg, 86, there's an ad for Age of Ornithology. All of these games are under the site address of www.schadenfreudeinteractive.com. Not surprisingly, these ads aren't listed in the advertisers index on pg 24. So by my magnificent powers of perception and deduction, this must be a contest and I guess I win...something. Anything. It can be for my 3 year old, if need be. Just a token prize that screams..."LOSER, you didn't have anything better to do than sit in the bathroom and actually read the prank ads in your computer gaming magazine!". And then take the time to write the editors about it...I guess I should feel ashamed. So please reward my curiosity by at least telling me what the heck those ads are for. Otherwise, I guess I'll be paying for therapy.

On another note, I like the new look and feel of the mag. I wasn't going to renew my subscription, but I like that the mag is written by adults, for adults. It's a little easier to play my computer games when I know that not everyone who's playing is a drooling, hormonal 16 year-old with acne. Since we're going down the "maturity" path, please include full reviews on the more intelligent games, like text-based sports sims (OOTP, CM, FOF, Fast Break Basketball, etc.) and indie online projects (CM, Space Empires) that are more thought-provoking than the average EB title like Butt-Monkeys 4, Fast-Twitch 2003, SimPortaPotty and Earwax Tycoon.

Just out of curiousity was the magazine the April issue?

Hey! Earwax Tycoon was a solid game--it just wasn't marketed properly.

Ah...that's probably it, wbonnell. It's just March 9th where I live. :)

CGM is a great magazine! They understand their subscribers are men between the ages of 25-40. This is something PC Gamer and CGW seem to forget. Gamers younger than 25 are by and large playing and thus reading console mags. Now if they would only hiring a decent proofreader...
