Suddenly, my downstairs directv dvr stopped working and I got a message stating that DVR service not activated. Directv said it was a known issue occuring today and they hoped to have it fixed by tomorrow and that all of your existing DVR programs would remain.
What.. the.. fuck?
I don't know if they have the ability to push an update or something that would reformat my entire DVR but, that is freakin unacceptable if they do.

What kind of DVR do you have? I suggest dbstalk forums, they are pretty good over there.

As of this morning, it works again. At least my DVR contents are intact...

I'd guess that the contents would be intact since they're sitting on the hard drive, right? That's what I always assumed...

Correct, but when the 'service rep' started saying things like 'We hope that you still have everything' made me wonder if they were going to push some type of update that would wipe the drive.
With Directv.. who knows...
