Someone that knows how to run a league needs to get this thing started. Im a huge Bears fan and would love to take control of the team. There seems to be plenty of interest and Im sure the teams would fill up fast if we actually got this thing running. Hopefully someone will man up and get this thing started.

Well I could possibly try to run a league. I ran FBPRO leagues before and I currently run an OOTP league. But to do this I would need help. Two main things... webspace and/or a guy to run the web site, also a current or former FOF commish to give me a little insite on the ins and outs of running a league like about how much time is needed, basic process of running sims and handling the files to import and such.

Basicly I do a lot of the grunt work, sims, tranactions, uploading files, processing drafts and such. would need another co commish to handle the more flashy web site stuff.

Well...... I've got a ton of webspace I'm not currently using, so I could host this thing, and also put up the basic website. Probably not as "fancy" as AUFL (http://aufl.simsportleagues.com)'s site because I wouldn't have time, but I could hook BigDawg up with FTP access to the league folder and build a basic Joomla-based framework for the site for someone else to update. Maybe something similiar to the site for my next league, the Blood and Guts league (http://bag.simsportleagues.com) - but with a forum too (BAG'll have a forum someday, right now it's just starting up).

I don't want to commit to having time to publish all the AUFL-type stories & stuff because I don't want my current league to suffer, but I can host the league and help with initial setup and teaching someone else how to handle the publishing and so forth (if necessary).

If anyone with PHP skills and the willingness to put them to use on our behalf ever shows up, I've got plenty of MySQL database space as well, so we could have fancy IHOF/GEFL/UFL/etc style player pages. But I've been looking for that for AUFL and haven't turned anyone up yet.

In return all I'd ask is to be the GM of the 49ers so I can see if I can return them to some semblance of respectability.

Dawg's in AUFL and has played with me in OOTP leagues as well, so we know each other and have a little bit of a track record.

Cool guys, thanks. I have a wide collection of NFL graphics, logos, helmets, pics etc and can create logos, headers, banners etc if required. Not much good at web site stuff though :(

Just messing around with making league files today see how it all works, also looking up any fac or other such info on the board about MP and commish stuff. After the super bowl tommorow I intend to drop joe a note and see about us getting a web site together.

also might put a message board together so we can move it over their and start the process of offical signups and other stuff. So just some pre league homework on my end at this point.

Also note theirs is a good chance I will be switching ISP's at the end of febuary... comcast is just getting to expensive and I think I can get a lot cheaper deal with AT&T so we probibly wont be officaly starting the league till after that so lets say March... spring football !!!!! LOL

For now anyone have ideas for cool names for the league? for the artists out their a logo to go along with it would rock. My first choise is now taken so I open it up to you all for idea's

So has anyone decided to get this league up and running? Just wondering if we have an admin. yet. Is there a date that we will be getting a website? Ground rules? Sims per week? Any info would be great. If we have this many people interested we should definately be past this step. Looking forward to seeing everyone on our new league forums.

we should sim 2 games per week. say, a game on monday and a game on thursday. we'd be using real players so we don't have to worry about an inaugural draft.

most every league incorporates the same set of rules, so it's not like we need the Magna Carta as our constitution to get this off the ground.

I concur. I was referring to a real college player draft file in my earlier post so that we could draft the McFadden's/etc. of this years class. Wishful thinking as I don't know if one's in the works.

Looks like Legendsport has the tools. Someone just needs to take the reins. How bout we fire up a forum? Any suggestions as to a reliable one?

Now should we just create the files from the stock NFL set up or is their a nice roster file you guys can point me too, I am also all for and real draft file if one exists for this coming draft but would need someone to tell me how to import it. I assume this doesn't need to be done till the end of season 1 anyways??

Sims will be twice a week , most probably on Monday and Friday Mornings with the interims done the day before. Probably your stock set of rules but once the board is up we can talk about what you guys want to see in the league.

Yep. I am leaning towards phpBB3 Portal, which is basically a front-end on a forum, so GMs can just write stories on the forum and they'll post to the front page - and you can create links to the stats and so forth too. Easy to admin - much easier than a Joomla-based site like I use for AUFL.

Really like the looks of the UPFL logo. Can pass on the XFL, Wouldnt want anyone thinking we are associated with the WWF / WWE, or whatever they call themselves nowadays.

If we go with UPFL Logo, anyway to make it the backdrop on the main page of the Website? I think that would look great!

OK. There's a site up. I spent almost all freakin' day getting it set up and just as I feared, it kept me from getting a couple of things done that I wanted to do for AUFL. Completely my fault as I went with something I haven't used before because it's folded in with a forum and seamless - I just had to figure out how to configure the thing. Oh well... at least this should be a one-shot deal as far as taking that much time.

The URL is http://ifl.simsportleagues.com. Since we didn't get a consensus on the name I just went with 'Intense Football League.' That's possible to change, but it's just a name... the league will be what we make out of it regardless of what the hell it's name is.

Be warned: the site is still very raw and there's basically no content yet, but the shell is there waiting to be fleshed out.

I set it up so you can register, pick your team logo as your avatar and basically get settled in and start posting. Once Craig (BigDawg) has a league file and some html output from FOF to upload, I will add links to the file & pages to the homepage.

Once you're registered you should be able to post news to the homepage, so management on the web-side should be minimal. There are currently three categories to post in - League News, AFC News and NFC News. Depending on how things look, I can add more categories. There's also a forum sitting behind the homepage with your typical MP-league categories.

I will add Craig as a mod once he signs up. I don't think anyone else will need mod access but we'll play that by ear.

If BigDawg would like, I can commish the league. I'm already commishing a FOF league and I've put in a good amount of work on this already so....

I also have an idea that might be cool. What if we start with 2008 instead of 2007? That'll give us something to seperate us from the crowd. I can put together a player database. Heck I did it for 28 NFL and 14 USFL teams for the 1985 AUFL kickoff, so doing 32 NFL teams and a draft class should be cake.

The way it'd work is this - we'd draft the rookies while the rating is going on since we can't do it in game. Biggest downside is that you wouldn't have ratings to look at during the draft, but there's a ton of draft coverage on the web, so we could use that in making our picks (since that's what I'll be using to rate these guys anyway).

Or we can go the easy & quick way and start with 2007 rosters. By the time we finish the 2007 season, we'd have a real 2008 draft file I'm sure. I'd either have made one, or one of the other roster makers will have boiled one up by then.

Joe can commish if he likes, I could even be a co commish if you need, or if you want to split sims or I can fill in and give you a day off and sim now and than... up to you realy. I take on as much work as you want me to.

Files... I say we go with 2007 rosters than we have a 2008 draft file by the time we hit the draft.

Yeah, the duck idea is pretty good. I'll commish and you can back me up as co-commish in case things get dicey at some point. I think it'd be cool to go with 2008, but I certainly can understand going with 2007 as it'd be faster. I will probably at least tweak the city files so that all the cities aren't identical. That way down the road if somewants want to relocate, the choices would be fairly realistic (LA anyone?).

Weekends are a little tough for me time-wise, but I'll try to have a league file up sometime this weekend.

Sign-ups on the site are going pretty well. Hopefully everyone will get signed up there in the next few days and we can really get rolling.

btw, i just wanna comment on something. i think this is the first time a league has been formed where the guy who started the thread looking to start the league doesn't even wind up being in it. i laugh at this. that'd be funny if he went away on vacation and by the time he got back an entire league was created, filled and launched before he could grab a team. i hope his dog pisses in his slippers too, just to really twist the knife.

Nice work guys... I have to say after a couple trips to the site the DUCK is realy growning on me. This league is gona rock and has the best name ever...LOL

Now I sit back and cross my fingers that the files are kind to me, I tested creating a nfl league 10 times and 8 of those 10 times the Lions realy blew, a little xfactor luck and who knows...LOL

My last try Calvin Johnson and Row Williams were 85 and 91 but Kitna came out 25 :eek:

Yea, I cant wait to see what all the ratings are. Have we decided on a sim schedule yet?

I like 2 sims a week, Wed and Sun perhaps with an interim sim the day before so we can get our rosters in order. What's the general concensous on this?

It'll most likely be game sims on Monday & Thursday. Midweek stages on the day following, Tuesday & Friday. I can't sim on the weekends. That's probably the only schedule that will work for me because I do game stages for AUFL on Tuesday/Friday and midweeks on Monday/Thursday. Midweeks are easy, but game days can be a lot of work and I definitely can't have two leagues with game stages the same day.

There's currently a poll going on over at the AFLAC site to determine whether we start with the 2007 default rosters as provided by Solecismic (which will have about 1300 fictional scrubs along with the 1700 or so rated, real players) or start with 2008 with all rated players (3200 total - 2900 or so "veterans" and 300+ rookies from the 2008 NFL Draft pool).

The voting on "when" to start is pretty close, 10 to 8 in favor of 2007 rosters. We have more than that signed up, so there have to be a few guys who have not yet voted. Make sure your preference is known by heading over and voting.

I am personally operating under the assumption that it'll be 2007 because the more vocal arguments seemed to be on that side of the equation.
