I finally succumbed to the dark side and received a team in Hattrick. The Concord Assassins (72162) are 2nd in their division and have won 2 games in a row. Unfortuantely, 2nd place is 12 GP (20-10) 20 pts, 14 behind the leader and with 3 teams within 3 points. I hope I can hang on to 2nd and get that cash prize in two weeks. I quickly up youth to 20,000 a week (currently wretched,) then hired 1 GK Coach, 4 AST Coaches, 1 Psychologist, 1 Spokesperson, 3 Physiotherapists and 1 Doctor. I change training from 90-96%, with Short Passes as emphasis. On my second try, I get a decent coach. He'll have to do for now.

Michael Huey
40 years, disastrous form
A inadequate coach who goes all out
A controversial person who is tranquil and honest.
Has weak experience and passable leadership abilities.

I start with these players (a * indicates they have been transfer listed):

My starters are France - Cash, Saint-Hilaire, Sequeiro - Wang, Diamond, Bowers, Edmond, Frost - Greco, Santos. I have a passable goalie, an advantage, and some decent middies and defenders, but no scorers at all. Deciding that I need some help, I quickly scour the markets and put out bids for a number of players. Most of these will be passed quickly, but I do snare 3 players relatively quickly.

I figure that Sandulescu and Demian can start at Inner Mid and Forward respectively, with Malmskog as my Sub-Wing. Soderstad I'm not sure if I should have done it, but I think that if I can get his form up, then I can transfer-list France and make some money.

First game today, against the Cow Tippers. This was before I acquired Malmskog, Sandelescu, Demian and Soderstad, so they did not play. We did not miss them at all. In an pleasant and unexpected development, the Concord Assassins dominated the scoreboard today 7-1.

25th Carlos Bowers 1-0
36th Asier Sequiero 2-0
41st Lee Greco 3-0
**th Lee Greco 4-0
42nd David Santos 5-0
47th Samuel Edmond 6-0
66th Lee Greco 7-0 (Hat Trick!)
77th Abraham Tejera 7-1

The most dominating Assassins player was without a doubt Jean-Felix Saint-Hilaire. Stephen Diamond on the other hand, had a terrible day.

Subtractions:
Richard Cash will be gone by tomorrow night. He has a bidder at 30,000, the only one of my players yet to get one.

Training:
Since all 7 of my middies and forwards receive training at passing I want to get 12-14 young players here and develop them. Right now I have the following seven:
Connor Critchlow 17
Lars Malmskog 18
Pompiliu Demian 21
Samuel Edmond 22
Stephen Diamond 20
Victor Sandulescu 23
William Frost 20

I plan on picking up 5 or 6 more cheap young guys, transferring or releasing most of my older guys and then, if I can stay out of debt, expand my stadium to about 12-15,000 near the beginning of next season.

Any FOFC'ers want to schedule a friendly? It would probably be best at your place because my stadium is still small. I have open dates stretching from next week to eternity.

Here is my lineup for tonight's friendly. It is not really a B-Side, since a few of these players will be on my A-Team next week, but I want to make sure I get a match in for them this week. Sticking with the 3-5-2

Went to Charles Weatherford Swanson Stadium to play Owasso in a friendly. Only 226 people showed up. They chose a 4-4-2 and I went with the 3-5-2, starting Söderstad - Malmskog, Saint-Hilaire, Bakker - Critchlow, Sãndulescu, Demian, Borgin, Odell - Sanvicente, Häggner.

Good debut for most, think I should definitely win Monday, giving me 2nd. Also, just looked and because every team has a new owner this week, Lee Greco is leading the league with 3 goals (no one else more than 1.) I think I'll start him at F, make sure I get that 10k for the leading scorer, then transfer him out.

In transfer news, Joseph Wang (15k) and Richard Cash (32k) are both going to be gone in about two hours, hopefully for higher prices, with Joakim Soderstad (79k) joining them at 4:30 tomorrow.

I have a question about Michael France. He is 28 now, and passable. I'll definitely keep him for Monday's game, but is it worth waiting until the beginning of next season before listing him, risking a drop in goal skills to inadequate?

Yngvesson will be starting keeper for the foreseeable future, otherwise known as until I pick up a cheap solid keeper. Passable/Passable combo is better than France's, so the other 3 Passable keepers have all been listed (Hogbo and Soderstad at 79k, France at 89.) Luburic can play forward or wingback for my B Team, but Nils Eriksson is the real steal, as he slips into a starting CM spot for only 8,000. He really should be a B-Squad player until his passing and stamina improve, but that's where I'm training this offseason, so by next season he should be very solid in the middle. Hammonds would be starting at striker if he were healthy, and I felt that it was worth the wait for those skills at the price.

Subtractions:
Carlos Bowers (42k), Richard Cash (37k) and Joseph Wang (15k) all sold, netting me over 85,000 after the greedy agents.

Training Updates:
Adriano Sanvicente: No change

No significant changes, although Soderstad's value shot up.

In other news, I scheduled a friendly at my place against Mississauga United, the number one team in Canada IV.61. He has won his last three games by an aggregate 30-0 and averages 6.5 GPG in league play. I'll probably go in undefeated since taking over while he's won 6 in a row.

Also, I have a question about formations and training. In the rules it says if you play more than 3 at CD/IM/F none will receive training but can you run a 2-5-3 in Friendly's, giving me 8 players who can be trained? That would stay in the 3-IM/3-F rule, do any of you know if this will work?

Took a little break, and finished 1st in my division and made the semi-finals of the FOFC Cup with a much-improved squad. Will start in IV.57 next season, and every team from 1-6 averaged between a 57-66 NSI, so it will be tough. I also realized that passing was terrible for training and eventually switched to Goalkeepers and it is working great. Of the 33 players currently on the team, here are the 19 I will be keeping for next season. Technically I'll be carrying 21 including coach and clown.

Coach

Jean Duarte
43 years, weak form, healthy
A solid coach who is defensive minded
A sympathetic guy who is calm and dishonest.
Has excellent experience and weak leadership abilities.

At some point in the future I might try firing him and getting a solid/attacking coach, but until then he is great. Only took 4 tries total.

Popped to excellent a couple weeks ago, will be on the team until at least formidable.

Stamina: poor Keeper: solid

Stamina: poor Keeper: inadequate
Playmaking: disastrous Passing: disastrous
Winger: disastrous Defending: disastrous
Scoring: disastrous Set Pieces: wretched

I think he'll pop to passable in 1 week, and if one of the two starters ever goes down, we'll find out.

Defenders

Going through the parts of my team individually.

Goalies

Heiner Schaaf
417 000 US$, 18 years, weak form
Has disastrous experience and passable leadership abilities

Keeper: excellent +2 weeks training.

Björn Frostenström
187 000 US$, 20 years, disastrous form
Has disastrous experience and poor leadership abilities

Keeper: solid

The best part of my squad. Frostenstrom was picked up 2 weeks ago, and his form is atrocious. With 2 weeks stamina training upcoming, it will probably not improve much. He will definitely be trained to at least excellent. Excellent's sell for ~500, formidables for ~1,500 and it will probably take 6 weeks to go from one to the other. I would like to sell him at formidable, but I have an itchy trigger finger. I also think my team needs 2-3 players to contend in the division, and selling him could enable me to buy one of them plus a good trainee. I'll probably end up compromising and listing him at 700,000 for 2 weeks after he turns excellent. Schaaf is a complete beast. He went from a popped solid to popping excellent in 4 weeks. Even if the next one takes 6 weeks, he will be at outstanding by the end of next season and depending on who is the 2nd trainee I will have a decision to make on whether to keep going/switch training and keep him or sell him.

This is somewhat of an unknown heading into the season, since I have not seen Cohen or Calinescu play in decent form yet. The 2 weeks of stamina training should benefit them greatly, and if they are not as good as expected I can sell one or both of them off for profits and play Kardel at a spot or even go radical and play the 2-5-3, since Petterson's experience allows me to. This is the oldest part of the team, and will probably require a replacement/upgrade in about 2 seasons but until then, combined with Schaaf in goal should hopefully give me DK-esque defensive ratings.

No good secondaries here, with 1 inad passing and 1 inad defending, but these guys are here to win the midfield battle. Sander was acquired 2 days ago and will be evaluated versus the rest after the stamina regimen is complete. If he puts up **~ or more, he will stay. If he can't, he will be re-sold for a profit. This area will probably need some improvements since anything less than a passable midfield will probably mean a loss for me and if I'm going to contend for the title, I will need excellent+.

Eigil and Petre were acquired within the last week and I'll be seeing them in action for the first time this Wednesday. With Petre playing towards middle and Eigil offensive, I should be able to up the midfield rating a notch and have one great wing attack. We'll see if this works out as planned. Also, with these two, there are more backups than necessary now. Russev was also a nice option as an offensive IM, but with the new league I don't think I can afford to have an inad playmaker in there. Greco is the only remaining original player, and probably won't sell for much if he goes. Burnham depending on how much stamina improves will probably be the best backup. He already puts up **~ offensive, and even though he is an extremely low passable (I did 1 week of PM training last year before I decided on GK training and he popped from inadequate) he contributes some to the midfield. One or two of the three will likely go.

Risse is the best, a constant **~ performer. I think I will try getting a *** partner for him soon, but until then the Technical/Quick combination of Haggner and Lapid should work decently as a 2nd forward. Hansson will probably go on the market soon if any forward trainers are interested. In a year you could have a solid/solid and those go for about $300,000 from what I've heard.

Friendly set-up vs. Skou United, who just promoted into the Danmark Superligaen (In other words, oh shit!)

GK Heiner Schaaf (Weak)
WB(D) Dumitru Calinescu (Poor)
CD Stefan Petterson (Inad)
WB(D) Eliran Cohen (Inad)
W(O) Eigil Anderson (Inad)
IM Paolo Edgardo Quattrochi (Inad)
IM(D) Petre Dordea (Poor)
IM Kaj Sander (Inad)
W(O) Bjorn Frostenstrom (Disastrous)
F(D) Jonas Rodstrom (Inad)
F(D) Steven Risse (Inad)

As you can see, I am not playing my best team, but rather trying out the recent acquisitions and then filling the team with everyone in Inadequate form or worse to try and keep them from taking a sever form hit with the stamina training. If this team I am playing puts his A-Team out there, he'll probably go double-digits on me and obviously from the forwards and disastrous form backup GK at Wing I won't be getting much attack here. In retrospect, I probably should have power-challenged D5 & D6 instead of the Danish and German top divisions, but hopefully I will get solid money with Cup Rules on.
