I got home from work tonight, and found out my cousin in Boston had been hit by a car.

She was rather severely injured, (broken shoulder, pelvis and fractured skull), but will live, and is in Pediatric Intensive Care in Boston right now.

I don't know much more (her family is at the hospital right now, and asked us not to come up, because there's not much we can do... but if you could spare some good thoughts and prayers, it would be much appreciated.

Very tough - went through this with my cousin when he was very little.

My hopes and prayers that she makes a full recovery.

DOLA: Update:

It’s really status quo from last night. She is awake off and on but of course she is heavily sedated. She is on a breathing tube so she can’t talk but they give her a note pad to write. She has a broken shoulder, broken pelvis and a cracked skull. She wanted to sit up but of course they won’t let her. They did some tests on blood vessels and they came back fine which they said was very encouraging. She’ll have a long road ahead of her.

Keep up those prayers.

Some good news to report:

Tess is now breathing on her own (no more breathing tube), and is allowed to sit up in her bed. Normally, they would look towards trying to let her get by with crutches but, unfortunately, her shoulder injuries will make that a non starter. So until her shoulder heals, she will probably be limited to a wheelchair.

She has been moved out of the ICU into a standard hospital room, hopefully in a few days she will be allowed to go home. Thank you all for your wonderful prayers and good thoughts. Keep it up :)
