Yep...anyone who blames Romo couldn't have been watching the game. Was he perfect? No, but he played well enough to win. I expected the Giants d line to wear down after the long Dallas drives but that didn't happen. It seemed like the Dallas o line is the side that fell apart. Also, considering the drops and costly penalties, there is no way Romo can be blamed for this loss.

Well...I'm thinking the Packers are going to kick the Giants' a$$ in Green Bay. I don't expect the Green Bay defense to fold against a very mediocre Giants offense the way the Cowboys defense did today...'effers.

Then I think the Patriots blow out the Pack in the Super Bowl. I'm thinking it could be 35-17 or somewhere in that range. It could be oogly.

I can't believe it's taken the Giants this long to start using Bradshaw. The guy was a stud at Marshall and only slid until the 7th round because of attitude issues. He's a perfect "thunder/lighting" compliment to Jacobs.

Perhaps I'm a bit biased because I drafted him in a fantasy dynasty league but it looks like that move might pay off.

Despite that, I feel he should be there number one guy.

100 bucks bet = 240 bucks on a payout.

So I put 200 bucks on the Giants Straight up and got a payout of 480 and my origonal 200.

So, I have 680 in my account after that game :).

I will take 0 for Texas Stadium over 0 for Playoffs any day. I will also take it over anything the Bears, Lions, or Vikings have ever had. :)

I heard earlier, before the Dallas game even started, that the early forcast shows for 11 degrees in Green Bay next week. Home field advantage is nice and all, but that is getting a little TOO cold.

I'm actually kinda happy for the Giants/Chargers; b/c much of the criticism both teams have received over the past year has been a little bit overdone.

Turns out Coughlin/Turner can win a playoff game; that Eli/Rivers aren't scrubs to Roeslithsburger; and that the media has to take a suckerpunch to the stomach.

Still, it will be Packers/Patriots in the Super Bowl, me thinks (to which the media will bludgeon us with the Good vs. Evil angle).

I am pretty close to rooting for Packers vs Patriots for the super bowl with the Packers pulling out a win for Favre. I don't really have anything against the Chargers though, just it doesn't seem like it would be as great of a lead up or media spectacle with them there...

The only thing keeping me from rooting fully for the Packers next week is that perhaps if they lost, Jas_lov would stop posting for a bit.

The line was bad. However, when the G-Men were blitzing like they were (sending 6 or 7 guys), Romo didn't seem to try to make changes and try to make plays when he should of just made the smart plays.

I've never been a fan of Romo. He's a decent quarterback, but I think he is over-hyped.

Well to be honest, I don't think Brady could do anything but throw sideways back then :). What he had going for him then is what he still has, his mind. But physically he's come a LONG way.

This is actually not true. When Bledsoe was hurt, before Brady started a game, Brady had a better arm, and threw a better deep ball. The reason the Pats played the way they did that year (lots of short passes) was not because of Brady's limitations, but because Brady was also better than Bledsoe at those throws, and that was the gameplan the Pats wanted to run. Belichek and Weis were secretly giddy when Bledsoe got hurt - he just didn't fit what they wanted to do.

Go back and watch some of those games, Brady had much more zip in his arm then Bledsoe.

I thought some of you might find this funny

hxxp://www.sportsbybrooks.com/lynsey-nordstrom-photos-jessica-simpson-twin-hired-by-nypost-for-giants-game-15415

NY Post Parks Simpson Twin Behind ‘Boys Bench

The NEW YORK POST reports that it hired a woman who resembles Jessica Simpson to sit in the stands at Texas Stadium yesterday in order to distract the Dallas Cowboys during their playoff game against the New York Giants.

NYP: “We sat her in the third row behind the Dallas bench, and she must have made the difference - (Tony) Romo’s final drive was stopped short of the end zone.”

We’re dubious of her effect on the ‘Boys (then again, so THAT’S who Flozell Adams kept looking at!), as the Post only published one less-than-revealing photo of the woman. But, alas, it didn’t take long to find more photos of her strewn across the web.

The woman’s name is Lynsey Nordstrom and the NYP reports she’s a 21-year-old nanny from Bethell, Wash. The NEWARK STAR-LEDGER reports she’s also a professional Jessica Simpson look-alike and “will show up in her Tony Romo jersey for her usual appearance fee: $500 for the first hour, then $250 each hour after that.”

But for Sunday’s game, she told the Star-Ledger last week, “That sounds like fun. Even if my flight is covered, I might do it for free!”

Do what for free again?

160 total yards to 38. 72 yards rushing to 4. Green Bay has taken over the game. I really didn't expect this after they went down 14-0. I thought Favre would resort to his old self like he did in Dallas. I guess I was wrong for once.

I wouldn't underestimate this Bradshaw cat. Maybe I'm thinking the best sine I'm a Giants fan, but this kid looks like he can do some damage in the NFL. He's fast as hell, and from what i've noticed, he knows how to hit a hole and when to cut it back. Him and Jacobs remind me of the "thunder and lightning" with Barber and Dayne, just 100 times better.

I remember that year very clearly. If by better arm you mean arm strength, well just not a chance in hell. His arm didn't get to where it is right now until 2-3 years ago.

Just not going to change my mind, I haven't forgotten :). Bledsoe made crap decisions, held on to the ball to long and tended to continually miss wide open guys. Brady was the opposite of all this, but he certainly did not have an arm.

That's what I said a few pages back. Ahmad Bradshaw is a very underestimated and very dangerous runner (and in my opinion a better RB than Jacobs).

If both Bradshaw and Jacobs are on, Eli continues to manage the game, the Giants pass rush wears down the Pack O-Line and the patchwork secondary manages not to give up the deep ball, then I can see the Giants winning the game.

Mind you, a few of those are big ifs, but at the same time, all are plausible and I don't think the Packers win is a guarantee.

Yep...I've actually been saying (to anybody that might care to listen) that Bradshaww should be the starting RB and Jacobs should go back to his role that he had when Tiki was the starter.

A couple of times I cringed as they gave Jacobs the ball on a sweep in the first half. Jacobs isnt fast enough to do that to good defenses in the first half. Bradshaw makes much more sense as the guy to set the tone...then you Jacobs to pound them into submission. This worked more effectively last year.

I think Jacobs is a good RB, but he is not a 60 minute back like Tiki was...or I believe Bradshaw will be when given the opportunity.

A quick fun fact...Ryan Grant(of GB) was actually cut by the Giants in training camp this year.

Lathum
01-15-2008, 11:04 AM
Part of the reason Bradshaw looks so good is because he comes in late in the game and rips off big runs after Jacobs has been pounding the defense and wearing them down. Jacobs should be the starter, it seems to be working fine.

Speaking of teams with two running backs, the Packers seem to be developing two now and I am liking it. Brandon Jackson has started to do well the last month or so. Which is a good thing because he is the only Packer RB whose jersey you can frickin' buy!

The wife wants a Ryan Grant jersey and we can't find anything that isn't autographed on eBay. You think Packers ProShop would take down the Robert Ferguson (a Viking this season) and put up a Ryan Grant jersey for sale, but nope.

Actually, he was going to be cut, but he was traded to the Packers for a 6th round pick.

Ah that makes sense...I was wondering how we got that pick.

Must have been watching tape from the first regular season Giants / Dallas game.

Wade needs to shut the hell up and work on teaching his players how to tackle, catch the ball, and pass block. If we had done those three things, we probably would have won easily.

Sucks how slacking on the basics comes back to bite you in the ass.

Does anybody have good knowledge of Rivers, LDT, and Gates health? What exactly is wrong with them, and how limited are they likely to be?

If you can't find one anywhere, you can try out nflshop.com and choose a customizable jersey. I believe it lets you pick which player on the team you want and it will let you buy a jersey with that name and number.

Hope that helps!

Earlier today I read:

Rivers - Knee injury, and is Questionable, though closer to doubtful than probable.
LDT - Knee as well, is Probable.
Gates - Toe injury, almost certainly.

So LDT and Gates will play at <100% and Rivers likely will not? Is that the consensus?

Terrible coaching right there. That's classic on how not to motivate your team. So next season, what does he say to them "oh you're so good, it was just unlucky we didn't win?"

No, instead you talk about how your team screwed up and if guys come out at the start of the season like they did in the Giants game, he'll cut their ass in a second. He can't do that now because he's already said in essence that the team played well.

Jerry Jones deserved exactly what he got.

Anyways, judging from the tape I saw, it was clear to me that the Giants outplayed the Cowboys in the second half. Unfortunately, Wade decided to look at just the first half tape. Seriously though, what upper tier coach would ever be caught saying something like that.

Big surprise Wade is a lousy coach. What exactly does he do besides get Jerry Jones coffee? Loved how Jones was standing right next to him in the closing minutes of the game.

Going to be hurricane force winds at gillette sunday. Two wind games this year for the Pats were horrible. Could be a concern.

Maybe I am wrong about this, but I could swear I remember Jerry Jones doing this for years, or at least I thought I remembered the local talk radio making a huge deal about it when I lived in Dallas back in the late 90s...

Maybe I am just getting senile though, but I could have sworn that this isn't anything new..

Well I am pretty sure he was not standing next to Bill Parcells at the end of the game last year in Seattle.:D

I know he is on the sidelines a lot. But everytime I have ever seen him he has been sort of away from the team until the game was well in hand in favor of the Cowboys. Sunday, he could have hand signaled the plays in to Romo.

That is what you get for hiring Wade Phillips. He is a poor coach who was 0 and 3 in the playoffs. 0 and 4 should not be a surprise. I think Jones picked him up because Wade has as history of being a wuss and at 60 he is only getting more wussified. Jones knows Wade will do whatever Jones wants without putting up a fight.

I think Jones was looking for a scenario like he had with Barry Switzer. Someone who would come in and take a team that a better man built and steer it across the finish line on his knees in front of JJ.

Tony Dungy is hugely overrated. He got fired in Tampa Bay primarily because of his performance in the playoffs, and in Indianapolis, he has arguably been worse in that regard, considering the talent there.

I don't think "overrated" implies a comparison with any other coach, but since you asked, I'd say he's the most overrated coach in the entire NFL. Not the worst coach, but definitely the most overrated.

The media is absolutely in love with him, I'm guessing because he's so nice to them.

I'm guessing this is Patriots bias talking ;).

I really don't consider Dungy to be overrated at all. Now Gruden, he's incredibly overrated. I mean Dungy is bring Tampa Bay along, but the GM doesn't really give him any QB's that can throw worth a crap. Then Gruden comes in and suddenly, they get Brad Johnson cheap, and a slightly above average QB can take the team to a SuperBowl win. Yet, people think Chucky just was a better coach... BS.

I disagree. In order for him to be overrated, he has to first be rated, no? For example, if I rate Dungy higher then Belichek, then yes he is overrated. If I rated him lower than Tony Sparano, then he is underrated. Here are the coaches I believe are rated higher than Dungy no particular order by the media and the general football public.

Bill Belichek

Jeff Fisher

Mike Shanahan

Andy Reid

John Fox- though he has slipped this year but I don't think he is viewed as being below Dungy

Jon Gruden

Mike Holmgren

I think most people would put Dungy next after that group.

OK, I see your point.

I perceived Dungy to be ranked overall (by media and fans from my experience) as the #2 coach in the NFL. Part of that is my anti-Colt bias, (and that I get annoyed when I hear about him, so I notice it more)

I hope he stays, because overall, the Pats have handled Dungy's Colts. I do feel the momentum could shift with a better coach.

The more I look at the current crop of head coaches, the more I wonder about the super genius assistant coach getting their first head coaching job.

Remember how brilliant some of these guys were when they were assistants?

Marvin Lewis
Gary Kubiak
Scott Linehan
Mike Nolan
Ken Wisenhunt
John Fox

All have time to get better, All, except Lewis and Fox, probably have not been head coaches long enough to be given a fair judgement. But based on the hype when they were hired, you would have believed that one of them would have won a SB by now.

Different league, but don't forget Charlie Weis in there as well. Also Norv Turner (although I guess he's redeemed himself this year somewhat) and Gregg Williams spring to mind. HC is definitely a completely different kettle of fish to being a great co-ordinator.

John Fox hasn't been that bad though. He did get his team to a SuperBowl. And unlike some of the hot shot coordinators, his team's strength is on what he was a coordinator for (defense) ;).

And Hell, Whisenhunt went 8-8 with the Cardinals. That's their best record SINCE 1998! Yeah, they've been that bad. So he's actually been very successful so far.

And, of course, everyone knows the Bengals were an absolute mess before Marvin Lewis got there. I mean his teams are usually around .500, but that's actually very good compared to the late 90s, early 00s.
