As good as what he was as a quarterback, and as competant as what he is as a broadcaster, I simplay cannot help but be very irritated by the fact that he repeatedly and frequently abuses the word what.
Is it just me? This really really bugs me. If you haven't noticed it, I apologise, before I spotted this, I enjoyed his dialogue, now I can nary focus on what he says due to all the unrequired 'whats' he uses.
That is all.

on balance though...I find him to be one of the listenable broadcasters who actually gives insight

He's the best NFL color guy in my opinion.

Aikman is one of the better color guys so this probably doesn't bother most people.

He seems to also start too many sentances with "I mean...".

I simply cannot help but be very irritated by the fact that he repeatedly and frequently mispells the word simply.
Sorry, I just found some irony in the post. :D

Sorry, I'm using the babylonian spell checker... that's how they spell it.
He probably is one of my favourite nfl tv guys but that 'what' he throws in there just bugs me so much.

I find that to be an Oklahoma/North Texas dialogue thing...I notice it but it doesnt bother me.
What does bother me is the SW Georgia/Alabama/Louisiana use of "what" where "that" belongs I.E. "I finished the drink what was left in the fridge" etc.

The thing I've noticed recently is that seemingly all the announcers have adopted the Maddenism of starting any discussion of a player with the phrase, 'Here's a guy ...'
