Just what the world needs, a bongo playing, marijuana smoking celebuspawn...
LOS ANGELES - Matthew McConaughey is going to be a dad.
The actor's publicist Alan Nierob told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the actor and his girlfriend, Brazilian model Camila Alves, are expecting a baby. McConaughey is excited, Nierob said.
McConaughey, a Texas native, has appeared in films including "The Wedding Planner" and "Sahara" and was named People magazine's sexiest man alive in 2005.
His latest film, "Fool's Gold," is to be released next month.

Good for him. The more kids brought into this world, the better.

Better a McConaughey baby than another Spears kid.
Oh wait...

Not that it really matters particularly, but I'm not sure that there's ever been a statement made here that I disagreed with any more than this one.

I thought he was being sarcastic at first, but now I don't think so.

I don't think jas_lov understands the concept of sarcasm.

Yes, because obviously a celebspawn is fucked anyway, and then you throw in ridiculous things like bongo-playing and smoking dope and this kid is sure to be a total waste of space.
Too bad the morality police didn't castrate McConaughey before this happened...

Well, I'm not going to get into a debate on the merits of smoking pot, and I have no problem with bongo playing, but I've never seen Matthew McConaughey do anything serious, or act in a way that would make anyone think he's ready to be a parent. I hope I'm wrong...but for someone who's shied away from any type of commitment to an adult relationship, I'm not sure he's prepared to make a commitment to a child. My opinion, maybe I'm wrong - I hope I am.
I like him as an actor, and God knows the man is smokin hot...but those don't necessarily mean someone is ready to be a parent.

I was being sarcastic, thank you very much! But I agree with dawgfan on McConaughey. If he wants to have a kid with his girlfriend, that's his business. I don't even know the guy personally so who am I to judge whether or not he's fit to be a parent? But if you want to sit here on your moral throne and tell people you don't even know what they should be doing, that's your business.

Don't we all do that here? I'm thinking of the Britney thread, the JamieLynn thread, Pacman Jones, etc...where we've all been a bit judgemental to people we don't know/have never met. Hell, I'm sure if given a few minutes I could find where we are judgemental toward each other, and we all kind of "know" each other here...

I guess so. I don't think I posted in any of those threads though. And wasn't McCounaghey's incident like 10 years ago? Has there been any other incidents or arrests with him that show a pattern like with Brittney and Pac Man? I just don't think we should stop somebody from having a baby just for smoking pot 10 years ago. Brittney and Pac Man have shown a pattern of being unstable. I fail to see how those two compare to McCounaughey. Jamie Lynn is pregant at 16 and she has chosen to keep and raise the baby. Good for her. Here's hoping she's a better mom than her sister has been.

Agreed.
I'm not going to pretend to know what McConaughey is really like, but I know I haven't seen any kind of bizarre, erratic behavior from him like I've seen from someone like Britney, so I have no reason to assume he's going to be any better or worse a parent than the average person.
I guess I'm also coming from a perspective where I don't find much difference between a parent smoking pot and a parent drinking.
