It's snowing in Duluth, and according to the AJC, there have been snow sightings in Peachtree City and Sharpsburg. Anyone else have snow yet?

Haha, you've never been to Atlanta have you? EVERYTHING in Atlanta has Peachtree in it....Peachtree Street, Peachtree Industrial Blvd, Peachtree Elementary School, Peachtree Corners...I live near the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Peachtree Corners Circle. Yes, it can get confusing if you aren't familiar with the area :)

Especially when the natives tell you to go down 5 blocks on peachtree, turn left on peachtree, follow the for 4 blocks, turn left on Peachtree...:D

And in that entire time, you pass several different peachtree streets

Don't forget that streets change names...you can start on Peachtree Street, head north, and be on PIB, 141/Peachtree Parkway and Medlock Bridge all without making a turn!!!

WOW! We are close! I'm closer to PIB and Pleasant Hill...if you know where Sweetbottom Plantation is, I'm in the apt complex across the street.

We just went outside to check things out, the ground is totally covered with about an inch of snow - the wet crunchy kind - good for snowball fights! :D Ken Cook just said snow/wintry mix could stick around til 10 am tomorrow...fun as long you don't have to drive anywhere!

JonInMiddleGA

Snow/rain mix turned to straight rain here before 8p, pretty much wiping out most of the white stuff that actually stuck to the ground for about an hour or so :(

So, who's ready for round two? There are talking like this round tonight is going to be bigger, with 2-3 inch accumulation. Of course, when they predict that it could mean nothing to several inches.

Come February, I'll be glad to send some snow down to you folks. For now, there's not a lot of snow up here, but we'll have single-digit low temperatures over the weekend.

Gee, I miss the south sometimes.

We just shipped our son off to my parents house to the west of us for the weekend, hoping he could finally see an actual snowfall for the first time in his nearly 10 years of life.

Of course that probably means the forecasters will miss it as usual and we'll get snow here instead of over there where it's expected ... and he'll get to plead justifiable homicide.

And I'm about 10 miles from both of you, right off Holcomb Bridge (Old Roswell Rd), on the other side of 400 :D.

And yes, my computer says it is 42 right now. Now sure how it's going to snow like that :D.

Dude, this winter has been nothing thus far. When I was a kid, it seemed like it would snow all the goddamned time. Now, not so much anymore.

dola,
The only proper course of action in a southern snow situation is to go to the grocery store and buy every last thing that isn't nailed down. If you fail to do so, the snow might be so bad that you won't be able to get out for 2-3 days, and might have to go "Alive" on your children.

:)

Large flakes outside my house. I made the mistake of going to the store last night because we had no food, it was teh sux. I didn't think it was going to snow, but I'm wrong.

Just looked out and it has started to snow out here as well. We bought groceries for dinner last night, with the plan to go out for shopping tonight.

We're both from up north (I'm from Gary, IN, my wife is from New York City), so this is nothing compared to the winters we're used to. The problem will come from all of the people here who think they can drive their usual 95 on the highways and be able to stop normally if the roads start to get ice.

I got a message with a weather update saying no snow til 1pm, and only 1 inch accumulating...looked outside and it's snowing big fat snowflakes! Grass is covered, trees are starting to get coated. Temp here in Duluth is about 33-34, I'm figuring we will be pretty much iced in by 4 or 5 pm. Good thing we went to the grocery store Thursday before the weather panic :)

Good grief -- a few inches of snow just means you can still go anywhere, you just need to be a little more careful driving. I think maybe we need an official snowdriving instructor here.

Then again, I'm from Michigan where we have the following seasons according to Foxworthy: Early winter, Dead of winter, Still winter, and road construction(sad but true)

Completely true. I mean it really isn't that bad, but people are going to go insane. I mean the grass and trees have snow all over them, but it isn't sticking to the roads... as far as I can see out my window.

People do go insane here, b/c it snows so rarely (snow like this only every 3-5 years or so) so no one really KNOWS how to drive in it. Also, as soon as the temp drops we get ice, which is impossible to drive in. But I do remember the first snow we had after we'd moved here from Chicago and how we all laughed at the southerners who didn't know what to do when the first snow flake fell.

It's still fun though...happens so rarely that it makes it special when we get weather like this :)

Yeah, this is the best way to get snow. Snows really hard and it's all gone in 2 days.

But the kids would be off too...so not exactly the optimal situation. :)

Diddly squat as far as snow goes, but quite a bit of rain throughout the day.
Said rain is now starting to freeze, giving us the always unpleasant ice without the more visually appealing snow :(

Wow - you are not that far from me and we got lots of snow, came down hard for at least 2 hours, maybe 3, and then was light for another hour or so...haven't been out lately though, too cold for me!

Yup, probably 2-3 inches fell in Alpharetta(when I was at work) of course not that much stayed on the grass and on cars, and none stayed on pavement.

Oh yeah, he's a legend here...along with Monica Kaufman, who either got married or divorced and now is Monica Pearson. Supposedly she is retiring at the end of 2008.

Wow.. she was on channel 2 news well as long as I can remember. Back in the early 80s she was on there with some guy anchor that I can't remember the name of for years. Amazing how little things change over the years.

Sorry for the minor thread fart, but I figured I'd add the North Carolina weather report.

Tody was our first day in Charlotte and although they were calling for snow today, we haven't gotten any yet except for a few flurries. However, lots of stuff closed tomorrow because of the freezing roads overnight. I think I heard that they only had 80 salt trucks for the entire area. That is why these "small" storms are a bigger deal.

Depending upon when, that would probably have to be either John Pruitt (who still anchors several newscasts on the station) or Wes Sarginson, who is now the lead anchor on Ch. 11.
