I'm sure there are a few other FM players out there who are new to the game and have some short questions that don't necssarily merit starting a new thread. This thread is for those questions--hopefully some of the more expert players can help us out. :)

Here are a couple questions I have:

What is a "through ball"?

Are your AssMan's player assessments (the star ratings) in relation to the league you're in? Is a 7-star player in Blue Square Premier not as good as a 7-star player in Championship?

Think of a through ball like a timing pattern in football. It's a pass through the defense for an attacker to run onto. That's always been my understanding.

I do think that the assman's ratings reflect the competition that you are in, at least it did in prior versions -- when promoted, I'd have far fewer stars than before.

OH! It's the type of thing that my Seria C2/B team always got burned on! Now those bastards will get a taste of their own medicine :)

Thanks.

I believe that the stars tell you how good that player is both in relation to the other players on your team as well as the quality in the league.

This makes sense empirically, because when I was playing in the Priemership, the highest stars any of my players ever had was 5, while I have quite a few 7 star players in lower levels.

Occasionally you'll see a 6 starred person, but I think that is exclusive to the best player at that position

I have a question about the report card for the young players. In some cases, the player might have one star for current ability and three stars for future, but the rating at the top will have 7 white (invisible) stars every time. What is the deal with those white stars?

Also, have any details come out on possible editors to remove old game logs as your career progresses?

White stars are potential

The white stars are current talent compared to other players of the same age. A way of splitting up youth players instead of giving them all 1 gold star for current ability.

Thanks, been wondering that as well.

What the hell does "go from strength to strength" mean? :)
