...anyone had the opportunity to see Ghost World?
Definitely a unique movie.....I just saw it a couple of evenings on Sundance of all stations..
After that movie was another "interesting" film, WayDownTown..
I'll tell you what, these were pretty good movies, definitely not your normal, run of the mill, Hollywood features.
Does anyone actually watch the Sundance Channel? Or was this kind of a dorky move on MK's (ahh Third Person Speak Again :D ) part?

I haven't seen WayDownTown, but I have seen Ghost World and it is a good movie. I watch Sundance and IFC a good bit.

There's a big film festival right across the street from where I work. It's called South by Southwest, and apparently they show very independent movies! ;-)

"Very Independent Movies."... :D
Oh and Grant, the guy with no shirt who hangs out at the Convenience Store (Mr. Numb-Chucks), he is absolutely OUTSTANDING!! :D

Talk about dredging up a thread back from the dead...
But I just saw Ghost World for a 4th time on IFC last night, and it is one of my all-time favorites.
Thora Birch is hot in this movie. But then, I have a thing for nerdy looking girls. :)
If you haven't seen it yet, check it out. It's not for everyone, but you'll figure out whether it's something you'd like pretty quickly.

Yeah, Thora is super-hot in this movie. It's the best she's looked.
Solid film overall. Another great Buscemi performance as well.
I wasn't 100% happy with the end of the movie... but still an above-average movie.

Edit: I hate OfficeXP.

I don't want to ruin the ending for everyone, but I think it was pretty good. It was keeping in theme with the movie, with the girl who was looking to find somewhere to fit in, to find someone she could count on... and is consistently disappointed. What's happening exactly is not really explained very well, but I think I understand what's going on and why she does it and what they were trying to convey.
But yeah, sometimes they can try a little too hard to be anti-Hollywood.

Actually, all that was fine with me. I literally meant the very end. I thought the bus coming to pick up the guy was just corny.

I can understand that. I guess I just liked how that showed that even the guy that Enid thought was the most fucked up in the world found his place, whatever that place might be. And she even voices the opinion at one point that he's about the last thing she could count on, that he'd always be sitting on that bench every day. But it was a little out of place, considering the tone of the rest of the story.
