Anyone out there use FOF2007 with an Apple?

If you have VMware Fusion or Parallells emulation software.

I run VMware fusion which allows me to run windows on the Mac as shell. I can switch back and forth between Leopard 10.5 and Windows XP.

I load the FOF in the windows shell and it works perfectly. I need windows for several business apps so I have both operating systems.

Uh...what? That sounds over my head for someone who just purchased a new apple. But I will explore that.

OK, I took a shot at Parallels, however, it seems unstable. The unfortuante part, I spent 75 buck to do so. Is VMWare the same type thing?

For those with any knowledge out there, I noticed looking at it that it was installed in documents instead of applications, safe to say that makes a difference?

I used Parallels to run FOF2007 and it did work, but only for about 25 seasons. Then there will be a crash that shuts down the computer. I've got a MacBook Pro, so maybe it'd be different with different Apples. I almost went for VMware Fusion on the off chance that it would work with FOF2007 better, but I want to know if the quarter-century crash happens there. Strait8? Anyone else?

Wish Jim would do a Mac conversion, though I understand it's not easy. It's just that there are zero games worth a crap on Mac. He might get some extra sales to make it worth it, just from the game starved people who already run Macs.

To explain more clearly. You cannot run FBPro2007 under the Mac leopard operating system. Jim would have to rewrite for that to happen.

Parallels and VMware create an enviornment n the Macthat allows a separate windows XP or Vista operating system to run.

I have tested both and found for my needs Fusion to be more complete and stable and robust. It is cool because you can switch from windows to leopard without reboot. i must say I have not tried the latest Parallels version which I hear is much better.

Why Bother?? The upside

Well in my case I love Macs but my company has runs apps that are windows only. Also I find outlook e-mail better than anything in the Mac world like entourage or mail which do not work well with enterprise server.

I have several laptops as i travel alot and have two homes in Canada (family) and the USA (job)

No comparison in how fast my MacBook pro 2.4 Mhz compared to my Vaio 2.4Mhz. Night and day. Slicker smoother faster and sleeker sums it up. I would never by anything but a Mac now.

The downside
longer boot up times to boot two operating systems. Some printer drivers get lost even after several installs on the windows side. Second operating system and fusion will add over $400 in added infrastructure investment to the computer.


FOF and Fusion

I did not have parallels on my machine long enoug to test its stability. With Fusion no problem I have plaid at least 35 years in one career and more than 25 in another. Very stable and cool. No problems whatsoever

You could run Windows under Parallels without a reboot also. It sits there in its own window doing its own virtual machine thing. But I never could get FOF2007 to work under Parallels. I'm about to try it under the demo version of VM Fusion, but I'm stuck at the part where I need to get a new license.. I'll update if this works better than Parallels for me.

I got FOF2007 running under VMWare Fusion, but suffered the same shutdown problem I had in Parallels. Maybe there's something wrong with my computer, but the symptoms are things start running slowly, then at some point they speed up again. Yet one random click at some point after this, and it can be on any screen I think, causes a shutdown of the system. I guess it may be my bad luck if no one else is seeing this problem while using Parallels or VMWare Fusion.

And if you have a MacBookPro, why aren't you just using the boot program that is built into it and just dual-booting it?

I have one also, and that's how I have it set up.

I wouldn't say it runs like a dream either (leppard that is).

Maybe just my experience, but XPPro is more stable than leppard.

I had the dual boot and Parallels used it, so that when Parallels went belly up, so did my dual boot disk partition. It was a mess. I have not redone it, because it is more of a hassle than it is worth for a game.

Other than some of the multimedia stuff and the wireless keyboard, I have found that XP runs things better than Leppard. So, I have it set up to boot into XP.

Just to add my 2 cents:

Im running FOF in Parallels (windows vista) on a Macbook Pro. I'm also participating in an online league using the same setup. Runs a tad slow on occasion (Mainly during FOF lauch), but once inside, everything runs well enough...
