Just trolling for thoughts, ideas, and suggestions here, but what do you guys think about putting guys in the lineup just slightly out of position.

Here's my real life example. I have a third year RDT rated 48/62 with excellent run stopping skills who is developing more or less at a normal pace. Problem is he is 6'5", weighs 265, and cannot gain anymore weight. I am converting from a 4-3 to a 3-4 so he'd need to move to nose tackle. Problem is at his weight the game will not let him change positions except to DE (wrong skillset IMO to move him to end). On the color codes he is yellow for both RDT and NT. So in theory his experience at NT is roughly the same as RDT. He has the perfect skill set I covet for a NT. Will this guy make an effective NT despite being listed as a RDT with no prospects of ever formally converting positions and being underweight (I know, in theory not a big deal in the game)?

To compund the decision there is a nice LDT coming up on the draft who weighs 290 and I suspect can be converted to NT. I'm 90% certain I'll be able to draft him from where I pick (I may be drafting him a few picks too high), but there are better players at other positions I rate higher I could pick, but I have less need because I am well stocked at those positions.

I've had mixed success doing this kind of thing between SE/FL, MLB/WILB, or RT/LT. Sometimes the guy plays even better at the new position, sometimes worse.

I think your biggest problem with the underweight RDT will be that even if he plays as a NT, he will gain his primary experience at the RDT position as long as he is listed there formally. That means that his development of positional experience will be really slowed.

If you're guy is a bit undersized for being a NT but is a decent run-stopper, why not consider moving him to DE in the 3-4? A 3-4 DE is like a hybrid DE/DT that is best at stuffing up the line, not getting deep penetration into the backfield, and your guy looks like he could make the move.
