Has anyone ever dealt with trying to obtain a domain owned by someone else? I have had sixteencolors.net/com/org for many years. I would like to get my hands on 16colors.net at a minimum, and they appear to be doing nothing of significance with the URL. Any thoughts on how to go about doing this? I would email the owner, but it appears to be a private registration (http://who.godaddy.com/WhoIsVerify.aspx?domain=16colors.net&prog_id=godaddy).

You can try to send emails to admin@, webmaster@, administrator@, postmaster@ and some of the other addresses listed in RFC 822 and RFC 2142.

I got an unsolicited offer for one of my domains once, via Afternic, a domain auction site, even though I wasn't looking to sell it.
Looking at the site, it appears as though you can use their services to negotiate/buy any domain that isn't already listed, but yeah ... you're going to have to pay for it.
