By now you may already have heard, but we had a tragic multiple shooting this evening in Kirkwood, MO, at City Hall. Two policemen and three members of the city council were shot and killed, in addition to the suspect, who just walked in and started killing. The mayor was shot in the head and is in crictical condition at last report.
We are all fine, but shaken. This is "one of those" events you see on TV or read in the paper in other towns and cities, and now we've had ours.

Reading the article this finds very tragic. Sadly, unlike many of the other scenarios, it seems like there were many warning signs here but little that anyone could do about it.
My heart goes out to all of those effected by this.

Not sure how the city can claim that they're now "safe" with this guy's brother still running around:
"The only way that I can put it in a context that you might understand is that my brother went to war tonight with the people that were of the government that was putting torment and strife into his life," Thornton told KMOV.
"And he had spoke on it as best he could in the courts, and they denied him all access to the rights of protection, and therefore he took it upon himself to go to war and end the issue."

Another gem from this poor excuse for a mother............
No one should kill. But no one should drive another person to kill either.
My only regret is that her son took 5 innocent people with him rather than removing his mother from this earth instead. I wish their was a cure for ignorance. It's an epidemic.

I just saw the headline for this and was going to start a thread but Dola it was already done. I don't live in Missouri but we are all affected by morons like this.
Anybody see a trend here? Anytime these freaks don't get their way, they start shooting people. Unbelievable.
I almost ran for city council where I live too. Uhhh, never mind on that one.

They stopped him from parking construction vehicles in his yard, and that drove him to multiple murders? That makes sense.

Wow, my wife has a friend that lives in Kirkwood that came up to Canada for University. We went down there to visit her years back. Terrible stuff.
Are there more freaks these days or just more freaks with guns?

Man, this guys brother is doing an interview on CNN right now. This guy is a grade A shallow end of the gene pool moron.
"War had victims on both sides" he said when asked about the innocent victims.

Only generations from now will he be regarded as the true war hero that he was.

Makes me glad I am at work without CNN.

It was only this afternoon that I realized that the shooter was black and the elected victims were all white. Wonder how long it would have taken for that to have become the focus of the entire story (national coverage at least) if it had been the other way around?
