A couple of years ago I played a game much like Jagged Alliance 2, but was in a 3d enviroment. The mechanics were similar, in that you hired mercs to help you complete missions, had the same kind of inventory subsystem, etc. The only thing I remember positively, is that you began as a prisioner/passenger aboard a transport truck that gets ambushed at the start of the game. Not much to go on, I know.
For the life of me, I can remember or find the name on the internet. Anyone want to throw some names of games that sound the same at me?

Soldiers in Anarchy maybe?
No. Vehicles were certainly not useable in the game.

Silent Storm: Sentinels
Destructible environments, hiring mercs, selling gathered items to afford mercs. Don't know if this is what you were thinking though.

Twilight 2000. Ok, it's kind of old, but I loved it!

I loved Twilight 2000 as well. I'm old enough to remember playing the PnP version.
Anyway, I found the game. Brigade E5: New Jagged Union. Doesn't sound as great as I remember though.

Granted, I haven't played it in like 6 months, but Brigade E5 is one of the worst games I have EVER played. It is fundamentally and fatally broken, in oh so many ways, that just attempting to play the game is an exercise in frustration and futility. Please don't spend your money on that thing.
