Take 30 songs. For example: Whoomp! (There It Is)" and "Mama Said Knock You Out," along with "Spoonman," "Brick House," and "Photograph,"

Record each of them in five different ways: rock, funk-hop (which encompasses rap), country, Latin/mariachi, and marching band.

Then turn it into a battle game. When you're winning, the song plays in your style. When your opponent takes the advantage, the style of the song changes to your opponent's style.

Part of me wants to hear "Whoomp! (There it is!) in a country style, or "Photograph" in a Latin.mariachi style.. but the rest of me is insisting in fleeing in terror.

If that's the most bizarre, this is the most practical:

Guitar Rising

Tech Buzz (http://www.buzzfeed.com/category/tech) Guitar Rising is a music video game where the player plays a real guitar as cued by the game's visuals. It's like Guitar Hero (http://www.buzzfeed.com/buzz/Guitar_Hero) for people who actually want to learn how to play guitar. For those of you who feel like you're so over Guitar Hero (http://www.kottke.org/07/12/goodbye-guitar-hero-3), there's a new addiction on the horizon. People without game consoles will be happy to know this game will be made for both the Mac and the PC and include a USB connection for hookup to any guitar. The game is already gathering buzz at conferences, but isn't due until late 2008, which gives you plenty of time to bid on that '62 Fender Jaguar you've always wanted.

I'm surprised something like this took so long to come out. Is there not "learn to play the guitar on the computer" software out already, or did these guys just figure out a better way to do it?

like yeah, like gag me with a spoon

that phrase makes me cringe.

i was a little boy in library class, i think it was like 5th grade or something, and the teacher asked me to tell a story to everyone. i remembered hearing a recording of an improv folk story telling session, where the storyteller asked the audience for random words and phrases and incorporated all of it into one story. obviously one of thos had to be there in order to understand what was going on. well, one of the phrases was gag me with a spoon and the overall story involved the 3 billygoats gruff. so i'm telling this story and completely bombing and trying to remember the story and doing such a poor job at it and i throw out the gag me with a spoon line and in the actual recording the audience laughed so i said it expecting to get a reaction and all i heard was the crickets.

dammit, i hate that phrase.

As much as I hate GH and RB, I think that I would smash the TV if I had to spend even 30 seconds of this new crap.
