although i hate to see this guy leave chicago, i think they can replace him at the LB position. we will miss the sack total but i think we can find another LB to fill the position. best of luck to rosey!

Wow I thought he was going to Detroit or Houston. I didnt think NE was really on his radar. At least he is outta the NFC North now.

I heard other teams felt Colvin would be best suited as a DE, does anyone know if New England plans to use him there or at LB?

The Lions, as far as I know, had planned to use him as an LB if they had signed him. Not that saying the Lions would do something is really any sort of endorsement ;)

Hey, Al Davis Collects Heisman winners. Perhaps Bob Kraft wants to start collecting gammy winning folk singers.
I will say this, I know Belichick is a mastermind and all, but she looks a little short and thin to play pro linebacker.

i think he is good at rushing the QB, pretty decent against the run but where he lacks the most in my opinion is his dropping back into coverage. obviously this is very new to him since he played DE in college but he needs to work on it. as far as his size, i think he is around the same weight as a lot of LB in the league. and his quickness usually can get him around the blockers, now if he was playing MLB it would be a prob because the OL would have pretty clean shots at him straight up.

If we run the 3-4 he probably fits in well at outside linebacker.

He's listed at 6'3" 245. Takeo Spikes is 6'2" 245.
I guess I'm not sure what the size problems are. He does have trouble in coverage, but he's a 25 year old coming off of consecutive double digit sack seasons. (I think only 5 or 6 players TOTAL have had double digit sack totals during this last two year period)
I think the Pats made a very solid pickup.

I guess we'll see if he is a product of Urlacher.

Since when is an outside linebacker the product of a middle linebacker? Forgive me, Urlacher fans, but I don't see him getting double teamed at the line of scrimmage (indeed, in the games I saw, Urlacher has difficulty sometimes shedding a single blocker)...nor do I see Urlacher drawing the tackle/tight end off to the interior of the line so that Colvin could run free into the backfield for sacks...
This is in no way meant to disparage Urlacher. I think he's an awesome linebacker. I'm just curious what lynchjm24 could be driving at here...
Edited for a slight wording change. :)
