View Full Version : The worst part about a woman asking for your info...

Is waiting for her to contact you and knowing she probably won't! AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!

It had been a while, but I went thru the age old story today of boy meets girl, girl says she has a boy, boy says "ok have a nice day," girl expresses interest in book boy is reading, boy & girl talk, boy says "your boyfriend is a fortunate man," girl asks for boy's info.

Now every time i see an email comes in...

I don't think I have ever been on an actual date. I don't think high school counts in this discussion. I guess picking up my future wife when we were 19 would be the closest thing......

And I thought the worst thing about giving a chick your info would be that it means you have to talk to her before you bang her?

Having been in a relationship for eight years, sometimes I miss the chase. Then I read posts like GMB's and think back to the times when I actually did the chase, and I'm happy where I'm at...

Well just wait for things to fall apart with her current boy, then she'll call you. No shame in being the backup plan. ;)

Serious question.

How is it that you live in NY and haven't had a date in a year and a half?

You should have replied to her "What'cha man got to do wit me?" at which point she says "I got a man!" and then you say "I'm not tryin' to hear dat see!"

Women in NYC have standards.

I'm serious... You take a fat woman who doesn't bathe regularly and who wipes snot on her shirt in public and she believes she's entitled to a slim man with athletic build, great abs and a full head of hair. Well a bald, "husky," man with a job that barely pays the bills (but does have me working evenings) doesn't stand much of a chance. The one good relationship I had in my life went south partially due to my unavailability in the evenings.

I'm also a bit on the jaded and bitter side.

I'm on the flip side of this.

bar I have gone to several times has a bartender who kind of fascinates me...couldn't tell if she liked me or was just doing her bartender thing but I had a hunch. anyway, saturday night as I'm leaving she says 'can I give you my number?' and I agree. however, the bouncer is pissed that I haven't left yet (was the only person still there appparently) so we didn't make the exchange. she said "you know where to find me" and I left.

I go back the next night with some friends and she is there; at the end of her shift she starts hanging out with her many friends in the bar. I want to respect her space and I don't want to be the jerk hitting on the bartender in front of her friends so I hang out for a while, finally I go over and we talk for awhile but she also talks to her friends (didn't introduce me to any of them). End of the night she goes to get her coat and stuff to leave and I am waiting by the door to say good night and exchange numbers. She talks to her friends away from me for like 5-10 min and I'm standing there feeling stupid/angry. Finally I go over there and ask for her number. Maybe she was waiting for me to do that, whatever. I finally get her number and take off.

Now I'm not sure when to call her. I have been out of the dating thing for awhile, and this bartender aspect is new to me. I want to get her on neutral turf somewhere without all her friends.

Call her at about 9:52 Saturday night and act all casual.

Or just wait three days. (That was always my rule, back in the day. I'm not sure how the kids do it these days with their text messages and such...)

I bartended for years and have seen this many times.

I would pop in during a slow time when she can chat with you and ask when her next day shift is. Then if there is another bar nearby ask her to meet you there for happy hour or something after her shift. Works like a charm, no preasure, you each have your own car etc... If it goes well ask her when you can see her again and tell her ou'll call her to set it up.

I am getting mixed signals, but everytime I approach her she responds well (even though she is surrounded by all those fucking hipsters). I am wondering if she just wants me to be "the man" and go up to her and so on to prove my interest. Girls who don't know me tend to assume I'm a player or that I have girls crawling all over me. I'm pretty sure she is used to guys being all over her, but I'm not that way.

I'm also wondering if you can take a hipster to a nice place for dinner. Right now the plan would be to call her and ask her to pick a night and tell her I'd plan the rest out; let her know if we would be dressed casually or a little nicer and when to pick her up. She has already told me that she will eat 'any kind of food' and where she lives, though I don't have the address.

The most interested girl in me Saturday was a 32 year old which was just eating up my lines about her looking way younger - regardless if she did or didn't, how do all women buy that? I could say that 100 times to 100 different women that are 30 and each one would believe me. Anyways, should have kept around to see what was going down but I was having too much fun mingling with everybody.

Good luck M- the #1 thing you need is confidence brother. I'm a firm believer any guy can get any girl, you just have to be confident in yourself and exert a little charm.

If you are a young male, not a mutant, and around alcohol and 30 year old single ladies, you can just about guarantee that quips about them looking young is going to get you laid.

I don't think I've ever given my number out, not without getting the girl's number too anyhow. The way my mind works if I ask for her number and she says no, then I know straight away she's not interested and move on, but if she asks for my number, I just don't want to play the waiting game when there's a chance that she had no intention of calling.

Mrs. Balldog asked for my number, it was actually by chance that we had ran into each other. We were at a party, I was walking inside to get another beer and she was walking outside to watch the hillbilly golf or whatever was being played. We talked for about 5 minutes then we both got side tracked with friends. Next thing you know all my buddies are ready to leave, we walked around the side of the house to my car and she was coming out of the front door.

She says "hey can I have your number?"
I said "I don't think so."
She says "fine" and starts walking away.
Then I had to chase her down and give it to her but I didn't know her name.

She called the next night but we didn't go on a date for about a month after that and about a month after that I finally found out what her name was. :)

That's the only time I had ever given a girl my number.

Giving your number out is a very low percentage shot. If you're really interested, step up and get her number. Then wait 5-7 days to call - unless somehow she tells you to call her the next day or something specific like that.

My memory is foggy on how it all went down. I think she opened with some reference to the night before, but I don't remember what it was anymore. Plus caller ID kind of got the identifying part out of the way after the first call.

I do remember asking her name one time when I was drunk and with old roommate, but she didn't hear me and he said "you dumbass don't ask her that." So I just kind of avoided it until he met her, then I had him introduce himself.

well for me, once I write someone off I don't want to hear from them anymore...so it would be something "going wrong" if I had to pick up the phone and tell them as such.

Having been in a relationship for eight years, sometimes I miss the chase. Then I read posts like GMB's and think back to the times when I actually did the chase, and I'm happy where I'm at...

I agree. Sometimes I miss the chase, but then I remember that only women like the chase, and I always hated it. The only thing that mattered to me was the end result, and sometimes it wasn't worth the chase.

I am really, really horrible with names. Back in my single days whenever I'd meet a girl when I was out, I'd forget her name like 5 mins after being introduced, which would be a problem if it led anywhere... My trick used to be that when I got their number I'd hand my phone to them and get them to put the number in the phone for me.

A few times that didn't happen for one reason or another, so I'd put the number in the phone under an exclamation mark (and obviously not let them see me do it), and then phone the next day at a weird time with number sending turned off, hoping to get their voicemail and hear their name on that.

I miss the chase at times, but it's easy to forget the other times when you were in a drought, out at bars until 5am in the morning hoping to get lucky and instead going home alone, or even worse, going home with someone(thing) you'll regret.

I certainly don't miss the money I used to spend going out 3-4 nights a week too.

What I really hate though is that it always seems that as soon as you enter a relationship, opportunities that you'd have loved to come up when you were single always seem to happen at an alarming rate.

I didn't bother asking for her number due to her having said she had a boyfriend. I gave her mine because she asked for it. No contact from her and I don't expect any. I came out, tried my luck on a woman I couldn't pass by (the first one to really make my blood pump in some time) and it didn't work. I took it for face value when she gave the boyfriend line and got my hope falsely up when she then struck up a conversation when I went back to the book I shouldn't have took my head out of in the first place. Time to crawl back into my cave...
