ok,
so we're looking into this MCI plan, which is basically a flat rate for local and long distance calls. Based on or current phone bill, this is a pretty decent monthly savings (about $30-50 a month).

but, being the skeptic I am, I wonder about "hidden" fees, or other such troubles.

so, anyone want to share experiences with the MCI plan?

I went with the Verizon plan, which is basically the same thing except it also includes calls to Canada (which was important to us since we have friends there).

I haven't had it for very long, but so far no problems and the $49.95 plan ends up costing around $56 after the hidden fees, taxes and stuff are all added in. Much better than the $120 a month long distance bill we used to have every month.

Well, you have to realize I am the laziest person on earth before I begin this story.

I have online billing w/ MCI but my online account is screwed up so I can't view my bill, but I can pay it. So I don't know how it all breaks down and in the last 4 months since I've had the service I haven't bothered to try to get it fixed.

That being said, my Neighborhood MCI bill is almost exactly $70.00/month in Atlanta after all taxes/fees etc. That was about what I expected. My base rate was $50, you deal with the same bullshit fees/taxes as you do on your current local service. (My $17/mo bellsouth local service cost me $33/mo for example, so I expected at least $16/mo extra).

I'm happy w/ the service and have seen no unexpected spikes or irregularities in billing.
