Calling Cards (for international calls)

Anyone have any suggestions for the best route of making calls from the US to canada, and vice versa?

I've never used a calling card, and from what I understand thru Sprint (my cell) it looks like the best rate I can get is 20c a minute with their 10 bucks a month international thing. Is that my best option? I've looked over some calling cards but I'm not sure what would be the easiest and most reasonable to go with. It'll be something I'll be using for a bit while my girlfriend is out of town to be with family in CA.

I used to talk often with a friend in Paris using these cheap 10 dollar calling cards I found at the local grocery store.. For 10 dollars, I had either 11 hours domestic long distance time, or about 4 hours if I called Paris.. I Imagine Canada would be cheaper than Paris. The call quality was great 95% of the time.

If you can find a place that sells these cards, sometimes gas stations do,
some grocery stores too, I would go with that.

Thanks for the suggestions, I was hoping to find something to use on our cells. I wasn't sure if the ones you find in convenient stores ect were worth while for int' calls.

I was looking at at callingcards.com but I can't really seem to find much in the terms of reviews for the site other than their brief blurb on the washington post they link to (plus there seems to be a dozen different terms that vary with each 'card'), so I may just go with one of those in store ones.

When I was stationed in Germany I used them to call the states quite a bit and my wife uses them in Iraq now. The value you get varies from card to card. The best thing to do is to compare the the number of minutes you're buying to the number of "units" the cards charge for overseas calls to the country you want to call.

For example, some cards have a 1 unit to 1 minute ratio for all calls (I had a hell of time finding cards like this) and some would have something like 4 units for each minute calling from germany to the US (so if the card was 100 minutes, I'd only get 25 minutes worth of calls to the US before the card expired). It varied from card to card to it took some trial and error for me to find the best prepaid cards.

In my experience, if you can find a place that gives you good value on overseas calls then the prepaid cards are much better than your standard calling card.
