I'm looking to join a competitive fantasy baseball league this year. Do any of you guys have openings in your leagues? I usually play a 5x5 mixed game of head-to-head on Yahoo but am up for anything. I prefer weekly leagues and the more competitive the better.

It's an auction and keeper league, so you'd have to travel to the draft each year (rotating between DC, NY, and GA/TN) but it is very competitive and there are several owners who are extremely gifted. Drop me a line if you're interested and I can give you more info and see how we can get you integrated this year.

I wouldn't mind finding another league to play in myself. Unfortunately, could only travel around 100 miles from my home and I'd like to get into an auction style keeper league...

Any interest in a serious money league run through here? (Meaning among FOFCers, run on some website, with me as a commish/banker) I have hosted an AL-only league the last couple of seasons with a $50 buy in, which has been fine... but my enthusiasm would go up significantly if that multiplied a bit.

In as long it was one league or the other and not mixed.

I agree, I'm a deep-league player myself, and would likely prefer to run an AL-only league, with between 8 and 12 teams (the more the better).

I think I'd be interested (although I consider $50 buy in to be serious already).

I'd be interested in an AL only league. Anywhere from $50 -$100 sounds right for a league fee to me. Any ideas which site you would use to run it?

I'd be interested in some league that was $50 + +
AL auction, keeper league would really peak my interest... (I just haven't been into redraft serpentine leagues)

The only thing that will work for real money on the internet with such a loose affiliation is a straight league with no keepers. Otherwise things like collusion are too easy.
When I saw QS's post I wasn't thinking $100...

Regrettably, I think I agree on the first part. I would *love* to pull together a serious money keeper league, but I'm way too fearful of getting it to hold together with owners over whom I have no real leverage.
And as for money... yeah, I wasn't trying to suggest above that my interest would explode if we jumped the $50 fee to something like $100. I was thinking more like $250 or $500.

I really have experience with two sites, and it seems you get what you pay for.
Yahoo! is very limited in its functionality, and for a serious league I'd very much prefer to find something better. CBSSports has very good functionality, but I think they charge over $100. My preference, for a league that might have a pot of a couple thousand dollars in it, would be to accept the costs of doing business and go for the site that really suited us best.

Why does CBS charge so much? Is there any difference in their leagues?
Gold = $149.50 service charge
Platinum = $399.50 service charge
Diamond = $899.50 service charge
Double Diamond = $1,499.50 service charge
These are how much CBS takes out of the pot to be given to the winner. IF all leagues have the same features why can't CBS just charge a straight $150.00 fee no matter what amount of money the participants put into the pot?

Those look like if they are per team if you join a league that they set up. If you just use their commissioner service and handle your own finances it's $149 most of the time and $129 if you sign up early I think.

The rebate looks like a 'referral'. I'm the commissioner of a league that uses Sportsline so I could get that $50 back into the prize fund if it comes to fruition.
I've been reading Baseball Prospectus for a good amount of the afternoon. I can not handle another week of February or another night of snowblowing my 600 ft long driveway.

Is anyone already in an existing competitive online league? I'm not really looking for a pay league right now. I know that money means competition but I'm just not in a position where I can justify $50 or more on fantasy baseball.
