Think of the people who hung around too long and were banned. Look at their posting patterns before the said banning. I basically think SkyDog took a leap before this got out of hand later. Because the poster just seemed to gradually become more risque with each thread. And it would have eventually lead to a thread that would have pissed people off. Or at least that is how I saw it.

Of course he could have totally been wrong about this and this could have been a goof ball like Hell Atlantic, Pumpy, st.cronin or sometimes myself. However this person didn't seem all that interested in discussing other threads.

I still question the original moderation decision and think that taking the attitude of the right decision was made in the end is a very flawed way of thinking. This forum has done a solid job of policing itself over the years and whether we or Jim like it, this forum is seen by a lot of newcomers as some sort of official forum for Front Office Football. Anything that would make people hesitant to post is bad for both Solecismic and this community.

I see moderation the way it was orginally used here as a way of stepping over the community and asserting control when it wasn't called for. I'd rather see someone be given the freedom to post as any other member here and then have the moderators step in after something happens than see preemptive bannings based on hunches and gut feelings. We joked about what you can do at certain post counts, but we did learn from this that although our joking was to the extreme, there is definitely some truth to it.

With that said, racism is something that is not allowed in my house. I have a 6 year that I make an honest effort to teach that race is not how someone should be judged nor should it be the first thing you see in someone. I do not condone what was was done. I do not support it. I feel used in a way. I've spent the last 3 hours or so debating whether or not I would just quietly be finished here because I'm sickened at how this ended and how I could be perceived in all of this.

So he not only did something worthy of banning itself as Shawon but creating a dup account after being banned is an automatic banning.

Actually all I saw is that the person had the same ISP and that it said the same geographical area, BUT I also know for a fact that you cannot count geographical area data based on IP addresses as fact... at least not in the real world, which I know that FOFC isn't part of.

This is true, we get a guy from MD who shows up as logging in from Portland on a board I administer. That was just because the IP has an error in its coding for the "where from" line. It really is from MD.

Oh yeah, and there's also a guy from WVa that shows up as coming from Texas. I understood the Portland, kind of.. but I didn't understand Texas.

Like I said, it's not 100% - but all of those factors have me convinced that it's the same guy. And if we wrong I would think someone (Atocep, Phalid, Shawon Dunston) would make an effort to correct us.

talk about being behind the times. i didn't read that phallid thread too much cuz i hate people who come here for medical advice rather than going to a hospital. what i found funny about this thread was this:

when i saw the title of this thread, i thought that guy Phallid (who initially reported a urninary problem) wound up having such a serious and devastating malady that he wound up dying shortly after starting his thread. then i read Shorty's 1st post and i thought maybe that Shawon guy had made fun of Phallid dying.
