Has anyone played PAIN? For a $10 download, looks decent.
Any other PS3 downloads any good?

I snagged PAIN with the $20 gift card Sony sent me for Christmas. I've had fun with it, but it seems like it's semi-episodic. You've got the basic game, and then there are additional game modes and such that can be purchased for an additional cost.

Super Stardust HD is a great downloadable game. Similar to Asteroids on crack.
Cash, Money, Chaos is also a good game if you liked the old Smash TV game.

I played PAIN at a friend's house, I particularly enjoyed playing the bowling game in the multi-player mode.
I, however, ABHOR the Playstation Store. I recently updated my billing address with my bank to be where I'm actually living, instead of my parents' house. I live in an apartment. I still haven't figured out how to enter my actual billing address so that the store thinks it's a valid address. I had so many problems with it that I went online to try to figure out how to enter it properly. The things suggested on the website didn't work, so I called their tech support. Tech support proceded to read to me what I'd already read online, and when I told them I'd already tried that, they told me that was all they could do.
They also told me that that was all they could do, they couldn't try to do something on their side, or figure out if something else was going wrong. Then they suggested I use a different credit card (as if that would make a difference, it's all about the ADDRESS). Then they told me that "a lot of online retailers use the same method their store uses, it must be something with me." And that's when I told them how disappointed I was and hoped they passed on to their supervisors how Sony's policies and lack of assistance is going to cost them customers.
For the record, I've never had a problem with ANY online purchase except for the Sony Playstation Store. I thought maybe it was just me, until I was listening to the Gamers With Jobs podcast and SOMEBODY WHO WORKS FOR SONY wrote in to complain that they have the same problem.
I really want to buy games like PAIN and Pixel Junk Monsters and such, but honestly, I have a hard time WANTING to support a horrible system. I know that once they have the cards that you can buy in stores I can do it that way, but I really just don't want to support something so poorly designed, with such bad help.
So I have no PAIN. No Pixel Junk Monsters. Won't have any Echodrome for PSP when it gets released. Unless they fix the store. :( Stupid Sony.

So it's a problem with the aparment info? The PS store doesn't give you the option for Apt# or something like that? That sucks.
I downloaded PAIN and my daughter and I had a blast launching that dude into the environment. My daughter particularly liked hitting the old lady at the subway entrance. Her giddy laughter each time the old lady fell was quite something.
However, they really need to add more levels. I'm played-out on the only level that comes with the game and that is only after a few hours with it. The additional characters don't add anything to the game other than new moves and sayings (which get super old super quick).

I found this on a gamespot forum, maybe it won't help but ...
you account information has to be exactly the same as the bank has it. I had a similar issue because I live in an apartment and I normally have my address on 2 lines so that is how I entered in on PSN but the bank has it all together on 1 line. WHen I changed that it worked for me.

Another one from a different forum
hey guys just got off the phone with Sony support. In my case I was getting the invalid credit card error as well. It turns out that I put my APT number on the second line of the address field. As a result the cc card info didn't verify. Here are the rules. Everything on one line. Use only space. no additional punctuations.

Just a FYI, terpkristen. A total redesign of the Playstation Store will be release in April with the 2.4 firmware release. It's reportedly a LOT more user friendly.

Thanks for the input, but none of those solved the problem (I had tried all those, and some others). The only thing I haven't tried yet is to add the +4 on my zip, I have a friend who says that works, but I'm so fed up with the entire thing, I don't really think I want to give Sony my money.
And even if they redesign the store, if they don't fix how they look at your CC info, it does nothing. I called my bank to verify that THEY weren't causing the problem, they said they haven't even been pinged by anything in the time frame that looked like it could have been Sony/Playstation/PSN/online retailer, so Sony is just rejecting it out of hand, without even trying to see if it matches what the bank has. It's just Sony being stupid, and makes it EXTREMELY hard to support them, as does their absolutely asinine "support." I mean, seriously, I had to wait on hold for 20 minutes for a "tech support" person to read me what I'd already read on the internet and not be able to offer any other advice or assistance?
I prefer my PS3 to my XBox, but they make it really hard to want to continue supporting them.

Certainly a bummer. They had no problem taking my money when offered. :)

For the first time I think Sony has done the right thing with the PS3... They have support for SD memory and not just their Memory Stick, you can replace the HD very easily with one off-the-shelf, and you can install Linux on the darn thing.
I'm sure I would be singing another tune if the Store gave me problems but they are coming out with pre-paid cards (if they aren't out already), though that doesn't help you now.
I refuse to buy an XBox360 since I have a PC, but the PS3 gives me Blu-Ray and some games I couldn't get for the PC.
