I've run into a problem with how FOF credits players for starts. In one of my MP leagues teams came out passing against us. Because of this, my WLB was pulled for the nickle CB for the first play of the game. No problem there, except that due to the opposing team's play choice, my nickle CB gets credit for a start and my WLB refuses to resign with us due to complaints about his playing time. He had 70+ tackles, a handful of sacks and interceptions, but because he wasn't out there the first play of the game, he's on another team.

Is there any workaround for this, other than deciding never to call nickle or dime defenses?

Your nickle CB shouldn't get pulled automatically unless your opponent is in the 4WR or 5WR, by the way.

If you're in a 4-3, it's generally a bad idea to play your best LB at WLB, for this very reason. Put him at SLB, or greatly reduce nickel/dime. (Beware that the latter "solution" will probably hurt your pass defense significantly.)

You can also put him in the nickel package (which I should generally be the case anyway). I usually have my two best cover LBs in nickel and dime, not necessarily an ILB and SLB.

If I want my superstar LB to have a shot at the record for most consecutive game starts, I should have that right, not the FOF game engine. At least, in the NFL, coaches/GM's/Owners/whatever have that right. ;)

You still have that right. Put your superstar WLB in as the SLB in the nickel and dime formations. You should want to do that more because you want him on the field more often and less because you want him to get a "starting stat" though. :p

Yes, that is also how the NFL credits starts, but NFL players (most of them) will realize how much they've actually played independently of that stat.

And as far as moving the WLB to SLB, some would suffer major ratings hits and, in some cases, the SLB is already better (that was our case).
