I've been so sucked into Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney that I've spent most of my weekend playing it.

I've solved 3 cases so far and am partway through the 4th one.

Am I correct in believing there's two more Phoenix Wright games after this? PW: Justice For All and then a third one I can't remember the name of?

And then a fourth game in the series that starts off a new lawyer in the PW universe, but with the same Ace Attorney moniker as the first game?

I believe you are correct (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phoenix_Wright:_Ace_Attorney_-_Justice_for_All#External_links).

There is also a fourth game which doesn't feature Phoenix (much). You can play the demo online (http://www.ace-attorney.com/aj).

It's just the tutorial mission but still cool.

As an aside, you may enjoy the Bow Street Runners (http://www.channel4.com/history/microsites/C/city-of-vice/game/bow-street-runner/game.html) game which is rather Phoenix Wrightish in gameplay (if nothing like it in presentation or tone).

Also, if anyone knows of any other good Phoenix Wright-emups, please let me know.

I'm planning a similar game just now for work and would like to see good examples others in the genre.

HAHAHA.

Yep, there are 3 in the main Phoenix Wright line:
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney
Phoenix Wright: Justice for All
Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations

I'm in the middle of what I think is the last case in T&T, which seems to be wrapping up the threads of the story arc through these 3, it's a great set of games.

Then there's also Apollo Justice, which is sort of the "next generation" after what happens in the 3rd PW game. If I'm not mistaken, Apollo Justice is the first game originally designed for the DS, so it has some extra things in it you can do that take advantage of the DS but from what I've heard, it's not as....engrossing as the main PW line. I have a copy and will play it one day but it's low on the list of priorities at the moment (finishing PW: T&T is one of the highest priorities for me right now).

I've only played through the first one but I absolultely loved it. It took me a while to get through it, tho, because I got stuck a couple of times in the fourth case and I put it down for a while.

Is there anywhere to get the instruction manual online? I bought a used copy of the first game for my wife, and it came without a manual and she hasn't played it much as a result.

Just thinking off the cuff (I haven't checked this), many GameFaqs walk-throughs for games have an introductory section where they go over the controls/basics of the game, so you might look at GameFAQs to see what the thingies over there have.

Alternatively, if there's something you guys need to know, please ask. The controls are fairly simple, things are mostly done with the stylus, or you can use the A button to "accept" and B button to "cancel" and the Y button + talking if I remember correctly is for pressing/objecting in trials. The first trial in the first game walks you through the basics of the game, too.

If I had my copy, I'd offer to scan the book for you, but my copy of the original is with a friend. If the instruction manual for the 2nd game would be useful, let me know, I'll scan it (the gameplay is the same).

I'm only just beginning PW: Justice For All, but I'm assuming Apollo Justice is just like the last case in PW: Ace Attorney. Since that level was only added to the North America version and was designed for the DS.

Fourth case solved!

I'll have this game beat by the end of the week, though it may not be til Friday or Saturday, as I've got two midterms this week and then Spring Break!

...Which will probably be occupied getting Justice for All and Trials & Tribulations ans solving them, too.

I'm right there with you - except the whole midterms part!

I really want to get to Apollo Justice already, but I'm taking my dandy time.

I just finished up Phoenix Wright: Trials and Tribulations (PW3). Damn, what a great game. The last case was tough, and really wrapped up everything that happened in all three games, it tied them all together and completed the arc I wasn't 100% sure was there after I finished PW2.

I can't recommend this series enough. At some point in the relatively near future I'll probably dig into Apollo Justice, but for now, I'm moving on to some other games (in particuclar Disgaea on PSP and MLB08 The Show on PS3). I just can't marvel enough about how great this game was.

I'm partway through the final case on PW: Ace Attorney.

Did you ever have to use gamefaqs at all during the series, tk?

I've had to use it twice so far. Once in the second case, when I swear I did something, but apparently I didn't, so that doesn't really count I don't think... because I would've done it anyway sooner or later.

The second time was in this fifth case, where I never would've gotten it except by blindly presenting until it hit.

So really, I'd say I've only had to use it once in actuality. :)

I didn't use them too much, but a couple of times per game, I did. More so in the 2nd and 3rd than the first, as in those, there were more instances that if you didn't do things in the right order, you couldn't progress. Like you have to press certain statements in the right order, or present items in the right order. That kind of thing drove me the most bonkers, because it didn't happen too often, and in EVERY INSTANCE, I knew what was supposed to be going on, but I couldn't move the story forward.

For the final case in the 3rd one, I was SOOOO close to using GameFAQs but ended up doing some process of elimination to figure out what to do. It's definitely one of those that wasn't intuitively obvious, and when I found out I was right, I was really stunned.

I don't know about the 2nd or 3rd, but on the first, there was a spoiler-free FAQ that literally just told you what to press like "press 3rd statement, present evidence Z" so that it didn't ruin the story. There were a couple of points on the 4th case and quite a few on the 5th in one where I had just gotten to the point where I wanted to see the end of the story and beat the game.

Oh, I forgot, my favorite part of PW3 was a sort of off-handed reference in dialog to one of my all-time favorite series of games (Final Fantasy). I don't think it's a spoiler, as it has NOTHING to do with the plot of the game, or any of the cases, but just in case, I'll put it as a spoiler if you want to be surprised on your own...

In the final case, at some point the judge says he's not a spoony bard, or something to that effect. It crakced me up beyond belief that the phrase "spoony bard" was used, and I almost ended up spitting out my water when I read that from the judge...

Finally got around to solving PW: Ace Attorney and found Justice for All at a Wal-Mart after hunting through umpteen stores.

I should've picked up Trials & Tribulations too when I saw it, because that appears hard to find as well, but I didn't. :(

Ah well, hopefully it'll still be there when I go back to LaX.

Well, if you still haven't found it by the time you're ready to play it, you're welcome to borrow my copy of T&T.
