I don't know about any one else, but I have probably written and not posted more material than I have posted (which isn't saying much).

So often I'll crank out a reply, and I either don't have easy access to reference material to back up my story, or I feel that I have come off too strong, or not strong enough, ad infinitum.

Am I alone in this, what is probably attributable to a mental condition, situation?

I almost closed the browser before submitting this one (something I'm sure most would have appreciated).

Bone, I think you're just being self-conscious. I don't think I've ever not posted something I've begun to type... who cares what we think, just post!

I probably refrain from posting half the posts I do actually post, I also rewrite almost every post - sometimes in an outside text editor in order to check for spelling errors. I guess I'm just too concerned what people here will think of some of my wild idea's:(. This is actually my 4th reply attempt, not sure whether I will actually submit though...

I used to always start to reply to things only to say "fuck it", delete it and move on. Now I just read for the most part.

Alright, I'm not alone! I abandon 1 post for every post I actually make.

I think what happens to me is this:

1) I read a thread and am compelled to reply.
2) I feverishly type out my ideas in a free-form manner and all is good.
3) Then, the editing starts. I tend to be too much of a perfectionist when it comes to what I write, so I spend a lot of time crafting my thoughts.
3) by the time my post is ready, or nearly ready, for primetime, I re-read it and usually decide that what I've written sucks monkey-snot, or the thought is so disjointed I feel like Jason Tobias.

just glad to hear I'm not alone.

Almost exactly what happens to me about 1/3 of the time. I have had some pretty nice, and lengthy posts wiped out because at the last second I decide it was better to hit the back button than the submit button.

So your 6000+ posts are only about 2/3rds of the total you've typed in?

Can someone send Marmel some ice for his fingers? :D

You would think after four attempts you could at least move the sad face away from the end of the sentence. :p

P.S. I don't abandon post very often, but I do try to English them up and will correct them whenever I find a mistake. :) See how that's done Buddy Grant? :D

Well, you could just simply post short comments that don't require a lot of thought like I often do. That way you wouldn't have to worry about it.

Have you ever gone back and read an old post of your own from a few months back? I was looking for my user number one time and so I typed in panerd to find an old post. Well it brought up a few old posts I had in a heated discussion over the summer. Well I re-read and thought "What the hell was I thinking?"
