View Full Version : Haven't these people been to a hockey game before?!

From the ESPN game recap of the Dallas-Wild game:

Stationed to the right of the net, Brunette tipped in Cliff Ronning's shot from just inside the blue line with 5:12 left in the opening period to make it 3-0. Then, one minute later, Laaksonen took a pretty pass from Richard Park and flipped the puck from the slot over Tugnutt, bringing chants of "Sit! Sit!'' from the crowd.

It's sieve you morons!

I don't get it. *confused*

If the goalies sucks (like Tugnutt did), you chant "Seive!", but these people were apparently shouting "Sit!" while trying to look cool.

Cards,
I pity the team that has to face the Wild in the first round. If it's the Stars, I will guarantee a first round upset right now. If we had half the heart that the Wild do, winning the cup would be a formality.

.

In Hartford, when we had a team, we used to chant (almost on a nightly basis), "You fucking suck, you good for nothing, piece of shit, talentless Hartford Whaler!"

Ahhh, those were the good old days of hockey, when it was fun to love those Forever 500 Whalers. :)

Did the Whalers actually ever reach .500 before their building collapsed?

Sach, I was at the game, the chant was definitely sieve. The sieve chant has always been big at Gopher, North Star and now Wild games.

I don't think the Wild will go far in the playoffs, they may win a game or 2, but I would be surprised if they went further. They have a decent team, but not the depth needed to go too far.

Is it not the greatest hockey song, ever?

Really dont like the Wild chances in round 1 over Dallas and I just saw them play in person last weekend.

Stars do have some historical problems with Edmonton and that might be an interesting early round matchup.

Are the Whale, Eagles and Skins the only professional teams in North America to have their own songs?

We haven't lost to them since '98. It's usually a tough series, but historically the Stars prevail.

Dola: Having said that, I would like to see that series, also. It's usually some of the best hockey of the year for Stars/Oil fans. The sniping on the hockey boards can become deadly, and the newspapers get even worse. I draw the line when folks start booing each others anthems, though. That's just wrong.

Bring it on, Star-boy! :D

Sorry, I've been rooting for them the past 13 years. Just cause I move to the metroplex doesn't mean I'm gonna change teams...

:D Go Oilers!!! :D

I actually love St. Louis Blues playoff games. There is nothing like seeing a team fail to meet their goals year after year after year. Plus, I won won a butt-load of money betting against them in big games. :)

I can't help it that your unnatural attraction to your own sister made you misread my post... :D
