I have a 15 year old daughter.

I just found out last night from my mother that my sister did the usual "If you have anything you want to talk about, call me" thing with her that we all do. Well, my daughter called her about boy advice... "What do you think about long-distance relationships? I met a 16 year old boy online who lives in Atlanta."

My sister swore she wouldn't tell me, then gave her good advice about staying away from boys on the internet, as any 16 year old in Atlanta wouldn't have the money to meet a 15 year old in Detroit. If he did, he was some sick bastard... She also gives her advice on other boy-related stuff.

It is good to know there is some adult voice of reason that my daughter is able to reach out too. God knows it isn't her parents who "don't understand" her at all!

My sister is as level-headed a person as I've ever met. I'm hoping that my daughter will always feel that she can talk to my sister about things that she might not feel comfortable discussing with mom and dad.

Watching that "High School Confidential" is enough to turn a level headed parent into a right neurotic ;)

(more seriously Haley's a very good kid and I trust her - but I do worry about her all the same, heck I remember what it was like at High School and UK high schools are much smaller* and easier to handle imho)

*Think 1,000 people in the entire school not a single year.
