Like most of its sport sims reviews, the low sound and graphics rating drive down the overall score but I thought it was a fair review.

haven't read it yet, but I'd say 8.5 is about right.

Agreed, if I had been asked to review it (which I strangely have not been), I'd give it around the same score.

Sound and graphics???? As some here would say, WTF?

Well, sound isn't really mentioned in the review, all that is a standard part of their points reviews. That being said, 5 is more than fair for sound because .400 built sound as a key new feature and it is nothing more than cheap, repetitive and annoying ear candy that adds nothing to the game.
Unfortunately, Out of the Park 5 does suffer from a few technical issues. For instance, it's slower than its predecessor. Simming games, saving and loading leagues, and just about everything else takes much longer than it did in the previous game. The game also has a few bugs in some of its features, like salary arbitration, that cause Direct3D issues with certain video cards, which forced the release of a comprehensive patch within a week of the game going on sale. And some of the information screens are so crammed with data that you risk eyestrain by playing the game at desktop resolutions above 1024x768. As handy as it is to have so much info on one screen, it's of dubious benefit when you have to squint to see it all.
For the love of god I wish that .400 would read this and take it to heart. Aside from the things that they have never changed despite pleas with every version (contract negotiation, anyone?), this is the ultimate complaint I had with OOTP 4/5 and TDCB. Unless you have a 17-inch monitor, these games will kill your eyes. Lenscrafters ought to get a cross-promotion going with these guys -- buy a .400 product, get $25 off your next set of glasses or contacts. 'Cause you're going to need them.

I'm not even going to bother with the ridiculous notion of having Direct3D issues with a TEXT SIM.

I don't have a problem at all. But then again, I'm young and mine is 17 inches.
