so, let me get this straight.

he gets traded from playoff-bound Colorado to Calgary. the NHL balks because of some clause, and so now Dean is "allowed" to go to Calgary, but he can't play any more games this year (he'll still get paid, of course).

not that McAmmond was going to play much with the Avs, but if I'm him, I'd feel like I was getting a pretty raw deal.

Now, if the NHL would just void the Battaglia trade, I'll be happy.

Canes got a steal when they got Vrbata. Lacroix doesn't make many mistakes, but he made one when he dealt that kid.

let's see...
Vrbata is cheaper than Battaglia.
he's playing better than Battaglia.
he's scoring more than Battaglia.
he has more upside than Battaglia.

yep, Canes got a steal. I'm pretty bummed about this one.

My employer tried to do that to me, but I would have no part of it.

Though I ended up not getting paid and still having to work, so I'm not quite sure who won that arguement...

The reason why the trade was voided was because Colorado claimed him in the waiver draft a few weeks ago.

The rule was put in place because teams used to "hide" players they could'nt protect by trading them before the waiver draft....then getting them traded back shortly after the waiver draft was over.

the team that did the hiding usually got an extra draft pick as compensation.

Can you win hockey games without a goalie? St. Louis is out to prove this one way or another.
