Guys, there's in issue with in-season trades and the cap, I'd imagine from the calculation of partial salaries. The short version is that we had a team in the WOOF today release enough players so that FOF said that he had enough cap room to do a trade. FOF processed the trade, but is now saying that he's $250K over the cap. Just wanted to give y'all a heads-up in case you see it in your leagues. I wouldn't want an unsuspecting league member getting accused of doing something unsavory, when there doesn't appear to have been any way of knowing this ahead of time.

We converted FOFL to Goal Line Blitz, so we're cool, thanks.

I reverted to the backup in order to give details for the bug report. The details are in post #13 of the thread linked to above. I'm about to add a few more details to it.

Not on a trade but on a FA signing, we had an owner in the RDFL who cut a player, and signed another and FOF had him over the cap, so it seems like it may have calculated the money spent on the player cut and included that against the cap, but also included the whole salary for the new player.

That's what it looks like is going on from the analysis at WOOF: instead of assigning 14/17ths of the new player's salary to the cap, it assigned the whole shabang.

Yeah, I had seen that issue before, making it easy to go to the 14/17th theory. The partial salary stuff isn't working properly and is making teams pay full season price for FA signings, even if they're signed in week 17.
I say 'properly' as the game manual claims that teams should be paying only the cap space for the portion of 17 weeks players are on team.

The partial salary thing was screwed from the beginning. I communicated with Jim on it a lot initially, and in the several new versions he has refined it and made it a lot better than it was before. I think for the most part it works now, but perhaps the trade (rather than sign/cut) part didn't get updated in the code.

A month or two ago I told SkyDog about the partial salary stuff not working and he reminded me that I reported the exact same problem back in November 2006. A lot of stuff has been fixed in past patches, but this doesn't seem fixed.

I don't dispute the trade issue was not fixed, even after your report.
All I know was I sent at least 2 emails (and referenced it in a bug thread) to Jim outlining a problem with the new partial salary aspect of the game (not crediting enough properly when you cut a guy, and charging you too much when you signed a guy), and I believe Jim addressed the issues in two successive patches.
As I said, I don't believe I ever raised it as a trade issue. So, in sum, this aspect went from "completely broken" to "not working entirely right".

All I noticed was that late season renegotiations and free agent signings are still working the same way as before all the patches.
In the end I didn't feel like bringing it up in public, because I felt it was too marginally of an issue. The last thing I wanted to happen is calling the game broken over something that isn't much of a problem, if you're managing your cap situation well.

Hmmm, maybe I just don't understand how it's supposed to work.
