I was thinking about possible scenarios after I finally got round to playing the one-n-done and I was thinking about a career where you can only draft players from one college. Obviously everyones alma mater would be interesting (Im guessing a lot of UCLA, Texas and LSU students would appear!), but is it realistic?

Im thinking that all the trading would make it too hard, so how about only drafting players from your home state?

Obviously, those furriners amongst us would need a list of where some obscure colleges are (Marist? Fordham? Rice?) and some confirmation on big ones (Temple is Chicago, Illlinois right?) But I think the concept might have legs. Essentially it would limit your choices and ability to draft whilst letting the AI pick over the bones you have to leave. It would also be quite interesting from a history point of view.

Anyway, any thoughts?

Temple is Philadelphia.

How about only drafting out of a conference? That would give you a bigger pool.

Or drafting out of a state's colleges.

Back in the FOF2 days I often did Texas challenges where I would only sign players who played for Texas colleges (or, if I was in a real bind, who had Texas listed as their home state)...

A couple of years ago I did a dynasty on a similar concept with 2K1 (let's see...was that the Des Moines Dragons? I think so. Many readers found it entertaining; check it out). Only, not that many players are coming out of Iowa. So I allowed all Iowa colleges (U of I, ISU, UNI) and was still struggling to fill a roster. I therefore also included all "small college" recruits. It involved lots of trading, but I brought in Kurt Warner, Tim Dwight, and a decent O-line. Defense was tough. But our squad did alright, since Warner was a god in 2K1.
