So starting it again, with the same players and same stats (except for the slight boo boo in relation to Jace Hunter and taking in Vex's changes) but with a slight tweak. I've increased the reputation for the players so that they are somewhat recognised. Hopefully that means the bigger clubs come in and give them opportunities.

Also, I'm running more leagues this time since it appears the US leagues are popular amongst the US players. Also adding the German and French leagues.

End of Season 2007/2008 update:

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Kilmarnock: The 6.5 million rated striker had a very good season with Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premier Division, helping them to 5th place and a place in Europe next year. The suspicion is that the England U-19 international will be moving for greener pastures soon though.

Daniel spent a large part of the season with the Reserve team but managed to get some first team games near the end of the year. Valued at 5.75 million.

Anthony Lee, AM L, QPR: The second-best left winger in the Championship this year is Anthony Lee, though he isn't able to push QPR past 19th place in the Championship. The former England U-19 international is currently valued at 3.9 million.

Jace Hunter, GK, Livorno: The Canadian keeper (1 cap) signed for Livorno, who finished 12th in Serie A this year. Unfortunately, Jace did not play a single game for the side as he was on the bench the entire year.

Al Mighty, AM C, Empoli: Al spent the season in the reserves at Empoli where he played quite well, scoring 6 goals and creating 9 goals. Valued at 1.4 million, Al has been capped at U-19 level for Italy. Empoli was relegated from Serie A this year, finishing dead last at 20th place.

Season stats: None.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Vit. Guimaraes: The U-19 Brazil international spent the season on loan at Moreirense, a lower division Portugese side. He will hope to return to Vit Guimaraes next year, who finished in 7th place in the Portugese First Division.

Season Stats: 41 games, 1 goals, 5 assists, 5 MOMs, 10 yellows, 6.90 rating

Qwikshot Norris, GK, Celtic: Qwikshot signed for Scottish Premier League runners-up Celtic but only managed to make 2 appearances in Europe for them (conceding 4 goals in the process). Valued at 120k, Qwikshot has been capped at the U-21 level by the Czech Republic.

Season Stats: 2 games (1 sub), 4 conceded, 6.00 rating

Torin Mayhem, GK, Hull: The England U-19 international spent most of the season learning from the bench as well, though he did manage to make 1 appearance and kept his first ever clean sheet. Valued at 110k. Hull was relegated from the Championship, finishing in 23rd out of of 24 teams.

Richard Dixon, GK, Airdrie Utd: The 40k goalkeeper has also been capped for the England U-19 side and this has been a rough season for the youngster, although he did manage to help Airdrie to 2nd place in the Scottish 2nd Division.

K.N. Smith, M C, Eintracht Braunschweig: K.N. is playing for a German lower division side and he was adequate for them in his 27 appearances. Currently valued at 30k.

Rob Nielsen, ST, California: Rob Nielsen is currently playing for semi-professional side California, where he has managed to score 3 goals in 6 games. Valued at 24k, he has been capped by the US U-21 side.

Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Dundee: Tom plays for Dundee in the Scottish First Division (just below the Premier Division) and was part of the side that came in 7th. He struggled at times with the level of play and will look to improve next year.

Charles Schexnader, D/WB L, DM/M LC, Kiel: Another player playing for a lower division German side, Charles played a lot this year and has been capped by the French U-19 side. Valued at 14k.

Sean Treacy (signing for QPR in 2009) and Will Brown (signing for Ternana in 2009) were too young to play professionally this year.

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Kilmarnock: The U-19 England striker spends another productive year at Kilmarnock and his value has risen to 8.75 million. Sadly, his team isn't as good as him and nearly got relegated from the Scottish Premier League.

Daniel Ertmann, ST, Koln: The 4.9 million striker was a bit player at Koln again this year, though he did make more appearances compared to last season. Koln finished 10th in the German First Division, a respectable showing for the newly promoted club.

Jace Hunter, GK, Livorno: The 4 million Canadian keeper is slowly being given more opportunities by his club and country (13 caps at age 20). He made 5 appearances for Livorno this year where he played pretty well. This prompted Juventus to swoop in and co-own Jace Hunter. Livorno finished 16th in Serie A (nearly relegated) while Juventus finished 2nd.

Season Stats: 5 games, 5 conceded, 1 lean sheet, 6.60 rating

Al Mighty, AM C, Empoli: Juventus also stepped in to co-own Al Mighty, clearly impressed by his potential. The Italian U-21 international did not play a first team game for Empoli this year, although he did appear in the reserves regularly where he scored 2 and made 5 goals. Valued at 3.2 million. Empoli were promoted back to Serie A after finishing 2nd in Serie B.

Rob Nielsen, ST, New England: Rob's been really busy this past year. First, he moved from California to Elversberg, a German 2nd Division side for 7k, where he scored 6 goals and created 6 more in 22 games. This impressed MLS side New England sufficiently to fork out 2.6 million to bring him back to the US. The US U-21 international is currently valued at 3 million.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Vit. Guimaraes: Dayne decides that he might have more chance with international football with the Portugese and switches to the Portugese U-21 side this year. The 950k defender will be playing in Europe next year as he helped his side win the Portugese League Cup. Vit Guimaraes finished 12th in the Portugese First Division.

Season Stats: 18 games (1 sub), 1 assist, 1 MOM, 1 yellow, 6.78 rating

Qwikshot Norris, GK, Aston Villa: Qwikshot is another player who moves this year as he joins Aston Villa for 600k. The Czech U-21 international, who is valued at 825k, played a few games for the Villans when Thomas Sorenson was out with an injury but was unable to hold on to that position, partly because he let in 11 goals in 7 games. Sevilla are reportedly interested in signing him though.

K.N. Smith, M C, Eintracht Braunschweig: K.N.'s performances last year were good enough for Furth, a German Second Division side, to step in and pay 170k for his services. K.N. was a sometime starter for his new club, which just failed to win promotion to the First Division when they came in 4th.

Charles played sparingly for the first team, which managed to come in 12th in the German First Division, though he did manage to score his first ever goal in the First Divison.

Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Dundee: Tom finally seized a regular first team spot in Dundee and helps push them to 1st place in the Scottish First Division and promotion to the Premier League next year. The 55k midfielder is currently tutoring Michael Scott, a 17 year old AM/F C, though the benefits are unclear (5 games, 5.40 rating).

Start of Season 2009/2010 Update:

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Kilmarnock: The former U-19 England striker (he's 20 now) sees his value rise again to 9.25 million. He's indispensable to his club and has started off the season with 3 goals in 5 games.

Anthony Lee, AM L, QPR: Anthony has been travelling with the England U-21's but hasn't yet been given his first cap yet, though that should come soon. Valued at 5.5 million, he has started the season in good form with 2 goals in 5 games for QPR.

Daniel Ertmann, ST, Koln: There are indications that Daniel is unhappy at Koln as he has been unable to force his way into the first team so far. The 4.1 million striker may be looking for a new club soon at this rate.

Al Mighty, AM C, Empoli: The Italian U-21 asn't appeared for Empoli yet although he is no longer with the reserves. In potentially scary news, a Serie C club, Sambenedettese, is reportedly interested in signing Al (not least because typing that out would be a real pain for me). Valued at 3.8 million.

Rob Nielsen, ST, New England: Rob's form has dipped slightly but he's still playing very well overall for New England, who are 2nd in the Eastern Conference behind Rob's 7 league goals. Valued at 3.7 million.

Jace Hunter, GK, Livorno: Unfortunate start to the season for Jace, who had appeared in line to start for Livorno this year. He appeared in the club's first 2 games (Euro Vase 1st round) but suffered a bad ankle sprain and will be out for an extended time. Valued at 3.6 million.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: The England U-21 international will likely be the first choice substitute keeper this year behind new signing Uruguayan first choice keeper Sebastian Viera (26 years old). Chris Kirkland left during the offseason on a free transfer to Inter.

Charles Schexnader, D/WB L, DM/M LC, Hannover: The French U-21 international appears to have cemented a first team spot at central midfield at the start of the season and has started the club's first 4 games. Valued at 1.3 million, Charles has shown a creative side to his game by creating 2 goals in those 4 games.

Qwikshot Norris, GK, Aston Villa: Qwikshot will be the understudy to Thomas Sorenson this season it appears. It wasn't totally unexpected since Qwikshot is only 18 years old but the future looks promising for him. Valued at 1 million.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Vit. Guimaraes: The first choice centreback for his club, Dayne hasn't played very well in the league but performed decently in cup competitions so far. The Portugese U-21 international is valued at 875k.

Richard Dixon, GK, Gillingham: 19 year old Richard Dixon is the first choice keeper for the Gillingham and has also been called up to the England U-21 squad. He's finding it a rough adjustment to the English League 1 though as he's let in 10 goals in 6 games so far. Valued at 250k.

Will Brown, ST, Ternana: Will makes an impressive debut for Serie C side Ternana, scoring 2 goals. The 18 year old is valued at 180k and, if he can keep up his performances, it's likely he'll be moving sooner rather than later.

K.N. Smith, M C, Furth: K.N. has started 3 out of Furth's first 4 games but has recently been sent to the bench as he hasn't played well so far (6.00 rating in 3 games). He has created 1 goal this season though. Valued at 180k.

Sean Treacy, DM C, QPR: The US U-21 international is valued at 150k. He hasn't been able to get a place in the first 16 for QPR so far, although he played well in pre-season (3 assists in 6 games). Hopefully that changes for him soon.

Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Dundee: Tom will be playing in one of the 2 AM C slots that Dundee uses in its formation (a Christmas tree formation). He's valued at 55k and will be looking forward to helping Dundee survive in the Scottish Premier League this year.

So as at 1 February 2010, with the transfer window closed, some things have happened:

2 players have signed contracts with new clubs for 2010/2011. One will play for Serie B side AlbinoLeffe, the other will play for Sporting Lisbon in the Portugese First Division.

Some players transferred before the season started or during the mid-season transfer window. One joined Arsenal, another signed for St. Pauli (German Second Division side) and the last signed for Celtic.

A player went out on a long-term loan to Bielefeld.

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Kilmarnock: Goldrin finally wins Scottish Premier League Young Player of the Year, after coming in 2nd and 3rd in the past 2 years. He was also named as the 2009 Supporter's Player of the Year and he's loved in Kilmarnock. Valued at 9.5 million, his 15 league goals helped propel Kilmarnock to 6th place in the league, just off a European spot.

Jace Hunter, GK, Livorno: Jace saw his value plummet this year to 825k. After going down with an early injury, he wasn't able to win the first choice keeper spot, though he did manage to make the occasional appearance for Livorno. Livorno finished 8th in Serie A this year.

Season Stats: 3 games, 4 conceded, 1 clean sheet, 6.33 rating

Sean Treacy, DM C, Celtic: Sean made 7 first team appearances for QPR before making a 350k move to Celtic (2nd in the Scottish Premier League). While it's a bigger club, the question that will have to be asked is whether Sean will get much playing time there.

Richard Dixon, GK, Gillingham: Richard has been travelling with the England U-21 side but Torin has been preventing him from getting his first cap. Richard's season as the Gillingham keeper went pretty well though he'll probably feel he let in too many goals. Gillingham finished 10th in League 1. Valued at 240k, Gillingham may have difficulties keeping him as Sunderland, Watford and Rangers have begun scouting Richard.

Season Stats: 45 games, 53 conceded, 13 clean sheets, 1 MOM, 6 yellows, 2 reds, 6.62 rating

Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Dundee: Tom fell out of favour with his manager early in the season before regaining a first team spot near the end of the season. This resulted in Tom only featuring in 13 games for the club. Despite this, newly promoted Championship side Bradford City has offered 120k for Tom's services, though the offer hasn't been accepted yet by Dundee. Dundee finished last in the Scottish Premier League and have been relegated.

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Kilmarnock: Goldrin Goldberg starts his 4th season with Kilmarnock where he is now valued at 10 million. There are rumours of unhappiness though as Goldrin Goldberg feels his club shouldn't have sold Andrejs Pereplotkins to Brescia just before the transfer window closed. Goldrin has failed to find the net in the first 3 games of the season.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Sporting: The 7.25 million defender joined Sporting and was then promptly loaned out to German First Division side HSV. Dayne will likely be a starter there as Sporting hope he gains more experience before returning to them.

Rob Nielsen, ST, New England: Rob stays at New England and is continuing to be deadly in front of goal (11 goals in 19 games so far). He will be disappointed that he hasn't managed more than 1 cap so far for the US U-21s though. Juventus are reportedly interested in Rob ... along with Watford.

Qwikshot Norris, GK, Arsenal: This was to be the season Qwikshot started at Arsenal ... and then he twists his ankle in the first league match of the year. He's out for 4 weeks and he'll hope that he doesn't suffer the same fate as Jace Hunter last year.

Anthony Lee, AM L, QPR: The talented left winger is another player that starts his 4th year for his club and it's likely that he'll be looking to either push QPR to the next level or find another club. He has 2 assists in the first 4 games of the year.

Charles Schexnader, D/WB L, DM/M LC, Hannover: Charles will look forward to contributing more this year at Hannover where he has started 2 out of the first 3 games of the season.

Daniel Ertmann, ST, Koln: This may be the year Daniel gets his chance to shine. He has made 3 appearances for Koln so far and scored 2 goals and he'll be hoping to keep that up for the rest of the year. Frankfurt has been impressed by his performances and may be interested in acquiring him.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: This will be another learning year for Torin as he starts on the bench again, which wasn't totally unexpected.

Sean Treacy, DM C, Celtic: Are the doubts setting in now for Sean? He's been moved down to the Celtic reserve team and been listed as available for loan. He'll be hoping that his decision to leave QPR doesn't screw him over.

Tom Kislingbury, AM C, Bradford: Another expected move as Tom leaves Dundee for Bradford City in the Championship. He's started 4 games for Bradford so far but hasn't quite gotten used to his new club's playing style yet (6.25 rating).

After a short stint at HSV, Dayne returned to Portugal a more complete player and proved that by winning just about every individual accolade possible before making a 33 million dollar move to Barcelona. Technically and mentally, Dayne has a lot of abilities expected of a top class defender but his weakness is in the physical aspect of the game, though his superb reading of the game means that he can cover up for his shortcomings most of the time. Capped by the Portugese U-21 team, he hasn't yet been called up by either the Portugal or Brazil full team yet.

After 4 years in the Championship with QPR, Anthony spent one season with Rangers where he was the best player in the Scottish Premier League and proved to be a very good offensive player. He's got excellent abilities for a winger but he'll never be strong in the air or a good defensive player. Only capped for the England U-19s thus far.

Turns out Arsene Wenger can spot goalkeeping talent after all as he Qwikshot has proven to be a bargain signing from Villa at 6 million. The commanding keeper has incredible stats for a goalkeeper; perhaps the only complaint that could be made is that he doesn't rush out that well but that's just finding fault really.

The versatile player clearly has talent but he is seldom able to put together a consistent enough run to be considered a top-echelon player yet but hopefully that will change soon for the 24 year old. Daniel Ertmann, ST, Bayern Munich: Daniel realised he made a bad move moving to Mexico and quickly returned to Europe on a 12.75 million dollar move to Bayern Munich. Daniel started his career out slowly at Koln but, when given the chance, proved to be deadly in front of goal. He absolutely dominated in Mexico last season and will hope to have the same form when he plays in Germany again this year, a place he is accustomed to (4 out of 5 years were spent here). It's surprising that Daniel hasn't yet been capped at any level by the U.S.A but he's still young (24) and should win a cap sooner rather than later. Daniel is very good in front of goal but one complaint about him is that he doesn't bring much else besides finishing since he doesn't pass or defend very well. Still, Daniel has started his career at Bayern well, scoring in their 1-1 draw against Schalke in the German League Cup, which Bayern eventually won on penalties.

Al Mighty, AM C, Triestina: The 10.75 million rated Al Mighty is touted as one of the next generation of gifted Italian playmakers. He's a wonderful player to have on the ball when it comes to initiating the offence and is an adequate defender as well. The drawback for Al is that he hasn't played that many games thus far, particularly since his first club Empoli refused to play him regularly. Still, Al has found a new lease of life with Triestina and will be pushing hard for recognition in Serie A this year and perhaps with the Italian national team. Capped at the Italian U-21 level so far.

Rob Nielsen, ST, Grasshopper: The 3rd of the 3 talented US strikers, Rob is perhaps the least successful of the lot so far. He's currently playing for Swiss side Grasshopper but Rob's career has started with drama already, with allegations that he can be a prima donna, particularly if he doesn't get what he wants. This arises in part because of the manner in which Rob forced his way out of New England last season but New England had the last laugh by transferring him to Grasshopper. Rob is clearly going to be a dominant force in this lesser league and he will hope to have the last laugh by finding a big side to come acquire his services. Another very skilled striker, the one complaint about Rob so far is that he can be lazy at times and sometimes finds it hard to last a whole game.

Sean Treacy, DM, Werder Bremen: Sean is the poster boy for the US U-21 side, having made 26 appearances for them already, nearly as many as all of Sean's league appearances combined. Sean recently made a 6.75 million dollar switch from Celtic to Werder Bremen and he'll be hoping that his time at Werder Bremen works out better than his time in Scotland, where, fairly or unfairly, he often felt that he wasn't given enough opportunity to prove his worth. Sean has played relatively few games in his career thus far but, in the games he's played, he's shown that he's a very astute player in the middle of the field.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: England U-21 keeper Torin Mayhem has been at Wigan 4 years now (starting the 5th this year), since his move from Hull, and he hasn't looked back. The 5.5 million rated keeper has bided his time and appears to have impressed his manager enough to earn the starting spot from Uruguyan international Sebastian Viera. The rumours are that the 2 keepers aren't talking to each other anymore and that'll be an interesting side story to Wigan's season. Another of the new breed of keepers that are exceptionally talented, there are absolutely no flaws in Torin's goalkeeping abilities.

Jace Hunter, GK, Brescia: Jace is one of the youngest players ever to be capped for Canada at age 18 and he has already played 24 times for the Canadian side, more than he has played in the Italian league. The 23 year old spent his first 5 years at Livorno but he steadily got disillusioned with his time there, starting with a contract dispute early on in his career then repeated disagreements over his lack of opportunity to play. This culminated in a free transfer this off-season to Brescia as Jace refused to re-sign for Livorno. The 5.25 million keeper, who is exceptionally talented in terms of goalkeeping skills, is looking to prove a point this year at his new club.

Richard Dixon, GK, Sunderland: Richard is commonly known as the "other" keeper. In his 2 years at Sunderland, Richard has had to play second fiddle to other more experienced keepers and, in the England U-21 setup, he is 2nd choice behind Torin Mayhem. Still, the 4.7 million rated keeper has time to prove his worth as he is only 22 years old and he is reportedly very very skilful as a keeper. Richard had started his career with Airdrie Utd in Scotland before making a move to Gillingham and finally to Sunderland.

K.N. may have the abilities required of a good midfielder but, for some reason, he just doesn't play that well. Hopefully this move to a better side makes the difference for K.N., who has played for lesser sides so far in his career, including Eintracht Braunschweig, Furth, St Pauli and the recently relegated Sevilla.

He has recently been relegated to the Preston reserve team and he must be missing the days when he was the boss of the Dundee midfield in the Scottish League.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Barcelona: A successful first season for the 32 million rated defender as he wins 2 major trophies with Barcelona. While he didn't nail down a first team place, he did feature on a regular basis and turned in solid performances. Transfer drama may be on the horizon though as his favourite club, Arsenal, are reportedly interested in bringing him to England.

The 20.5 million striker then went out to play well in the 2nd half of the year for Celtic (5th in the SPL) and won a Scottish Cup medal, scoring the 2nd of Celtic's goals in the 2-2 draw against Dundee Utd (Celtic eventually won on penalties).

The 15 million rated midfielder has 12 20's for his stats btw, very impressive.

Al Mighty, AM C, Triestina: Triestina performed slightly better this year, 14th position in Serie A, a 2 spot improvement. Al definitely had a part to play in that as he raised his performances and contributed more from midfield this year. The 13.75 million midfielder is travelling with the Italian squad and he'll hope to get a cap soon.

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Chelsea: Goldrin kept plugging away and was eventually rewarded with some limited playing time for the English Premiership champions. He proved again how deadly he can be in front of goal as he scored 7 goals in just 13 games. Unfortunately, the 11.75 million strike did not receive a Premiership winners' medal as he only made 9 appearances in the league (you need 10 to get a medal) but he did manage a FA Cup winners' medal as Chelsea complete the Double. Currently travelling with the England squad.

Daniel Ertmann, ST, Bayern Munich: Not a great return to European football for Dan as he was only able to make 9 appearances for Bayern the whole year round, though he scored 7 goals in those games. Will Brown, ST, Palermo: The 21 year old striker just can't seem to impress his manager enough to get a place in the first team. It probably didn't help that he suffered a 2 month hip injury but he wasn't playing regularly even before that.

Jace Hunter, GK, Brescia: 7.5 million rated Jace Hunter finally gets to play more regularly with Brescia (9th in Serie A) where he was impressive between the sticks. He did split time with Olivier Sorin, a 32 year old French keeper, but he should get a lot more opportunities next year.

K.N. Smith, M C, Bayern Munich: The transfer that had everyone talking this year belongs to K.N. Smith. The Swiss international (1 cap) only made 5 appearances all year round for Bayern (4 from the bench) but Real Madrid saw something they liked and were persuaded to fork out 19.25 million for K.N. He's off to Madrid where it'll be interesting to see what happens next.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: Torin was the regular keeper for Wigan most of the year and he helped them to 4th place in the Championship but they lost in the play-offs to Reading in the first round. Valued at 4.8 million, he would be a bargain for a side that needs a good young keeper.

World Cup 2010:
People predicted it would happen eventually but no one really expected it to happen so soon. However, in 2010, the first African nation ever to win the World Cup was the Ivory Coast as they beat England on penalties after extra time ended 1-1. Spain beat Holland 1-0 to come in 3rd.

Player of the tournament was Salomon Kalou (Ivory Coast), 2nd was Wayne Rooney and 3rd was Michael Owen (both England).

Golden Boot winner was Robin van Persie (6 goals, Holland).

European Championship 2012:
France won the European Championship in 2012 by beating England on penalties after extra time ended 0-0. Poor England have come close to 2 major trophies but faltered at the last hurdle. Ashley Cole missed penalties in both the World Cup and Euro Championship!

Player of the tournament was Philippe Mexes (France), 2nd was Jeremy Toulalan (France) and 3rd was Silva (Spain).

Golden Boot winner was Djibril Cisse (France, 4 goals).

Champions League:
In the past 7 years, Italian clubs have had a slight dominance in the Champions League, with Milan winning in 2007, Inter in 2008, 2010 and 2011. Real Madrid have won the trophy for the past 2 years though (2012, 2013). The sole English team winning the title in the past 7 years? Arsenal (2009).

Having said that, Spanish clubs have come close to dominating the past 7 years. The beaten finalists in 2009, 2010 and 2012 were Barcelona, while Real Madrid lost in 2011 (otherwise they would have won for 3 consecutive years), while the surprise finalist in 2013 was Zaragoza. If things had been slightly different, Spanish clubs would have won in 5 of the past 7 years.

Euro Cup:
It's a different story in the Euro Cup with Spanish teams winning 5 times in the past 7 years (Sevilla twice in 2007 and 2009, Atletico Madrid in 2008, Zaragoza in 2010 and Barcelona in 2013). Milan was the only other club that won the trophy in this span (back to back in 2011 and 2012).

English Premier League:
The Big 4 of English soccer continue to dominate as they have won the past 7 titles between them. The last time a club outside of the Big 4 won the title was in 1995 (Blackburn). Man Utd won 3 titles (2007, 2009, 2011), Chelsea won 2 (2008, 2013), and Arsenal (2012) and Liverpool (2010) won one each. The only time a non Big 4 side came in the top 3? That would be 2012 when Newcastle came in 3rd.

Financially, Arsenal are worth 870 million and a distant 2nd is Man Utd (368 million). Chelsea are at 344 million, Spurs at 207 million and Liverpool at 205 million.

English FA Cup:
The FA Cup has been a more mixed bag of results. The winners have been Chelsea (2007 and 2013), Wigan (2008), Birmingham (2009), Bolton (2010), Blackburn (2011) and Liverpool (2012).

English League Cup:
The Big 4 are largely dominant in the League Cup as well. Man Utd (2008, 2009), Chelsea (2007), Liverpool (2010, 2011) and Arsenal (2013) won 6 of 7 cups. Newcastle managed to win the 2012 title though, also the year they came in 3rd in the League.

German Bundesliga:
No clearly dominant side in the German First Division in the past 7 years as the title has been won by 5 different sides. Stuttgart (2007), Werder Bremen (2008, 2013), Dortmund (2009, 2010), Schalke (2011) and Bayern Munich (2012) were the past winners. The better sides are probably Bayern (top 3 in 5 of the 7 years) and Werder Bremen though (top 3 in 6 of the 7 years).

Bayern are the richest club at 123 million, HSV at 109 million, Schalke at 100 million, Koln at 85 million and Hannover at 84 million.

Italian Serie A:
Inter were dominant in 2007 to 2009 (3 titles) but that stranglehold was broken by AC Milan in 2010. Juventus (2011) and Roma (2012) won the next 2 titles before AC Milan won again in 2013. Since their early run, Inter have fallen somewhat, only coming into the top 3 one more time in 2012. A surprise team that has been challenging in recent years is Sampdoria, who were a top 3 team between 2009 to 2011.

Juventus are worth 400 million, AC Milan 257 million, Roma 180 million, Lazio at 159 million and Inter at 124 million.

Spanish First Division:
There is only one club you need to know about in Spanish football and that's Real Madrid. They won 6 consecutive titles (2007 - 2012) before Barcelona finally broke this stretch in 2013. Barcelona were also runners up in 4 of those 6 years. Zaragoza have built up quite a decent side, appearing in the top 3 in 2008, 2012 and 2013. Other sides briefly challenged but were not really able to sustain their performances for multiple seasons and it looks like there is a growing gulf between Real, Barcelona and Zaragoza from the other sides in the First Division.

Barcelona are valued at 962 million, Real at 537 million, Valencia at 211 million, Atletico Madrid at 142 million and Athletic and Betis both at 82 million.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Barcelona: Dayne remains at Barcelona although Arsenal have made some queries about his availability already. The 25 million rated defender has started the season very well so far (7.50 rating, 2 MOMs in 4 games).

Daniel Ertmann, ST, Benfica: Dan packs his bags and moves to Benfica this year as he realised his old manager wasn't going to give him a real chance again. Benfica paid 24.5 million for Dan's services and he's repaid them with a blistering start (4 goals in 3 games!).

Rob Nielsen, ST, Celtic: The 20.5 million rated Rob Nielsen starts his first full season at Celtic where he'll be looking forward to destroying the opposition. 2 goals in 3 games is a good start to the year.

Sean Treacy, DM, Werder Bremen: Sean is helping Werder Bremen defend its title this year, which might be a challenge since Werder just doesn't do as well financially as the other German sides. They've started the season poorly though (13th place) but Sean has played well for them (7.00 rating).

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Newcastle: Goldrin finally left Chelsea when Newcastle paid 19 million for his services. Goldrin will be hoping to follow in the path of former Newcastle greats like Alan Shearer and Michael Owen and has started his career here with 1 goal in 2 starts.

Al Mighty, AMC, Triestina: Al is a favourite here at Triestina and is valued at 12.75 million. The suspicion is that he will leave at some point in time but, for now, he's happy to be a key part of the midfield here.

Jace Hunter, GK, Brescia: Brescia are in 3rd place in Serie A early in the season and that has a lot to do with Jace Hunter, who has played very very well in 2 games (7.50 rating). If he can keep it up, Brescia may be a surprise package this year.

Will Brown, ST, Palermo: This may be the year Will gets a chance to start for Palermo as he is given 2 starts early on (7.00 rating). The 5.25. million striker has been waiting for this opportunity for 2 years now and will be looking forward to proving his worth.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: Torin remains at Wigan but he continues to remain unhappy at being there. He has started the season quite well (3 conceded in 4 games) but it'll be hard for him to remain focused if he remains dissatisfied.

Richard Dixon, GK, Middlesborough: Richard was tired of playing second fiddle at Sunderland and accepted a move to Middlesborough (3.4 million). He's the number 1 keeper at the Riverside but he's let in 6 goals in his first 4 games.

Tom Kislingbury, AMC, Preston: Tom's future remains unclear at Preston. He makes 2 substitute appearances for them but plays terribly (5.00 rating) and it's a real question whether he'll be given much playing time this year.

Anthony Lee had a good first season with Spurs, though they only managed 7th place in the League. Anthony's contributions were slightly less impressive compared to last season but he still managed to be named to the English Premier League Select as well as coming in 3rd placed in the English Players' Player of the Year award (Fernando Torres won the award).

Spurs also lost in the League Cup finals to Arsenal (2-0), though Anthony played very well in that game (best player for Spurs with a 8 rating). Disappointingly, Anthony still hasn't been capped for England yet.

Qwikshot played a lot of games for Arsenal this year but he missed out on their League Cup win over arch-rivals Spurs. Qwikshot's performances were good but it'll be somewhat disappointing to him that he didn't win anything this year, both in terms of team and individual accolades. Arsenal came in 6th in the Premier League, which was another disappointment.

Dayne played better for Barcelona this year compared to last season as he got used to the higher standard of play in the Spanish League. Having said that, it was a season without a major tropy for the Catalans as they came in 4th in the League and only won 2 minor cups (European Supercup and Spanish Super Cup). On a personal level though, Dayne was named to the Spanish First Division Team of the Year.

Schex won the League Cup with Arsenal this year, though he was substituted in the 68th minute with a 7 rating. Schex got used to the physical English game quickly and seemed to enjoy it more than the German league as his performances improved slightly this year. Sean helps Werder Bremen defend its German First Division title this year. Sean's performances dipped slightly from last season's though but that could be explained by the fact that he tore his groin muscle in November and was out for a month and he had to take some time to recover his form.

Goldrin waas phenomenal in his first full season as a starter in the English Premier League and also proved himself on the international level (7 goals in 8 games!). Finally given the opportunity to start, GG was able to show the soccer fraternity what he could do when given the chance as he fired Newcastle to 3rd place in the English Premier League.

K.N. Smith managed to play in 22 games for Real this year but he was clearly out of his league as he really struggled to make an impact. This was a transfer that confused many when it happened and, at least based on this season's performances, will remain confusing for a while more. Having said that, K.N. won a Club World Championship medal, a Spanish First Division champions title and a runners-up medal in the Euro Cup.

Dan was another striker that had something to prove this year after last season's disappointing spell with Benfica and he did so spectacularly. 23 goals in 38 games for Benfica ensured that the fans love him, particularly since he helped Benfica defend their league title.

Dan was named player of the month 3 times, was named to the team of the week 3 times, was the runner-up in the top goalscorer award as well as the most man of the match award. All in all, a good year for Dan.

For Jace, it was a drop-off in performance from last year as he let in 43 goals. This contributed to Brescia's 15th place in Serie A. There were few bright spot for Jace this year besides the fact that he remains the Brescia and Canadian first choice keeper.

Will was finally given the chance to start for Palermo in Serie B and he showed what he was capable of, propelling Palermo back to Serie A as he scored 16 of their 65 league goals. Will was named to the Serie B team of the week 3 times and he'll be hoping that he isn't relegated to the bench again next season.

Richard was another keeper that struggled this year with a midtable club (11th place this year). Letting in 55 goals in 40 games is not a good thing and he'll want to improve on that record if he's to have a chance at being called up to the England squad.

Rob Nielsen wins another Scottish Cup this year with Celtic but they again fell short in the League, coming in 2nd to arch-rivals Glasgow Rangers. It's been 5 years since Celtic won the title and the fans are getting impatient. They do like Rob though, who was named as the Football Writers' Player of the Year and was also named to the Team of the Year. He also managed a Goal of the Month award.

Torin remains unhappy at Wigan and it remains a real question how much longer he'll stay at the club. The manager will be hoping that the fact Wigan got promoted back to the Premiership will help relieve some of that unhappiness but this could be the off-season Torin leaves the club.

Al is done at Triestina as he signed a pre-contract offer with Genoa (7th in Serie A). Just in time too as Triestina was relegated this year (19th place). Fairly or unfairly, some blame was placed on Al's feet for the relegation as there were accusations he wasn't focused this year because of the contract issues. The slight dip in performance may be an indication that there is some truth in these allegations but football is ultimately a team game.

It's looking more and more likely that Tom's time in Preston is coming to an end .... more disturbingly, maybe his career as well. The 30 year old is finding playing time increasingly difficult to come by but he'll have some comfort that his Preston contract runs for 2 more years.

Start of Season 2014/2015 (no screenies!):

Anthony Lee, AML, Tottenham: Anthony has consistently been one of the top wingers in the English Premier League the past 2 years and he'll be looking to maintain that status. At 26 years of age, Anthony still has a potentially long career ahead of him. 7.00 rating in 4 games is a slight dip in performance for a player of his calibre.

Qwikshot Norris, GK, Arsenal: Qwikshot remains one of the most valued keepers in the world. He's started the season well with 5 clean sheets in 6 games.

Dayne Ho, SW/D C, Barcelona: Dayne starts his 3rd season at Barcelona and will be wondering when his first international call-up will come. 8.00 rating in 2 games is a sign of good things ahead for the season. Arsenal and AC Milan are interested in signing him.

Goldrin Goldberg, ST, Newcastle: Dubbed the new Michael Owen, GG will be looking to win medals this year with the Magpies and hopefully avoid the injuries that plagued Michael Owen's later career. Spurs have indicated their interest in signing him though.

Charles Schexnader, multiple positions, Arsenal: Schex starts 3 games for Arsenal and averages a 7.00 rating so far. Another player that is wondering when his international call-up will arrive. Inter and Juventus are asking about him.

Sean Treacy, DM, Werder Bremen: Sean will be looking to help Werder defend its title for another year, which would be a real achievement. Another player who has had a solid start to the season (3 assists in 4 games) but also not called up to the full international squad yet.

Daniel Ertmann, ST, Benfica: 3 goals in 4 games to start the season for Dan as he continues to show how good he is upfront. Benfica will be wondering how far they can go with Dan leading them, hopefully to European glory.

K.N. Smith, MC, Celta: K.N. leaves the San Bernabau after 1 season as he makes a 14.75 million move to Celta. He's tired of being disrespected though and has started the season with a 8.00 rating and an assist on his debut for his new club.

Will Brown, ST, Palermo: Will is pencilled in as the starter and he's played decently in his first 2 games but fails to score. Amazing 100% shots on target ratio for him so far (just 3 shots in 2 games though).

Richard Dixon, GK, Middlesborough: The season is starting out promisingly for Richard as he plays in 7 games and concedes ust 4 goals. If he can keep this up, Middlesborough may be in contention for a European spot next year.

Al Mighty, AMC, Genoa: Al is slightly concerned that his new manager may not be intending to use him much this year. He hasn't played any competitive games for Genoa yet.

Jace Hunter, GK, Brescia: Jace has been named as the Canadian captain, a great honour for the 25 year old. Letting in 4 goals in 3 games isn't a great start to the year but Bolton may be interested in signing him.

Rob Nielsen, ST, Celtic: Rob has 3 goals in 6 games this season for Celtic and an impressive 7.50 rating. At least at this early stage in the year, Celtic are top of the table and Rob will be shouldering a large part of the responsibility in keeping them there. Manchester City and Houston are keeping tabs on Rob.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: The struggle between Torin and his management continues as he remains dissatisfied at Wigan. He has let in 9 goals in 6 games and hopefully his record will not be a disaster this year because of this issue.

Tom Kislingbury, AMC, Preston: Tom is back in the reserves and he's feeling insecure about his future at the club. Will he leave? Hopefully. Tom recognises his time in the game is coming to an end though and has indicated an interest in becoming a coach after he retires.

Anthony Lee finally gets his first cap for England as he makes his debut against Iceland. Unfortunately, he is being kept out of the first team by 30 year old Stewart Downing. Anthony was a runner-up in the League Cup with Spurs but it was a disappointing season overall (12th place). On a personal note, Anthony won the English Footballer of the Year award and was also named to the Premier Division Select.

Dayne may be considered one of the best defenders in the world but that doesn't persuade either the Portugal or Brazil manager to pick him. Barcelona are another big club that didn't perform well, failing to win a trophy and only coming in 5th in La Liga. Dayne was named to the La Liga Team of the Season though.

Schex was part of the Arsenal squad that disappointed its fans this year. However, in terms of personal performance, this was probably the best so far for Schex as he gets named to the English Players' Premier Division Select, the first time he has received such an accolade in any league he has played in.

GG is a star in England as he scores 33 goals in 59 games for the Magpies (5th in Premier League). He is also a regular in the England squad, completely understandable considering his record for them. GG was 3rd placed in the English Footballer of the Year award (behind Anthony Lee and Wayne Rooney), was the Top Goalscorer runner-up (lost out to Bolton's 31 year old Ivory Coast striker Arouna Kone, 21 goals) and was also named to the Premier League Select. It was a season of "almosts" for Newcastle as they came in 2nd in the FA Cup and the Euro Cup.

Dan wins the Portugese Cup and is runners-up in the Portugese League Cup with Benfica. Benfica also came in 2nd in the League. Dan had the most MOM awards in the Portugese League this year and was also the Player of the Year runner-up (losing out to his Benfica strike partner Alan Kardec).

Sean is unable to help Werder win any titles this year as they come in 2nd in the League (losing out to Dortmund). No real personal accolades for Sean this year but the defensive midfielder is used to that since he plays a non-glamourous position. Still not being capped for the US team must be frustrating though.

Jace is still at Brescia and is still unhappy. Not much to be said really for the Canadian keeper since Brescia are unlikely to ever win anything of note (10th in Serie A this year), which is why he's unhappy.

Will is unable to keep Palermo in the top flight as they get relegated on the last day of the season (1 point behind 17th placed Atalanta). Will will be wondering if he could have helped more if he hadn't been out for a month at the start of the season with a bad ankle sprain. Will did win a Goal of the Month award as well as a Young Player of the Year award.

Yet another keeper that is unhappy at a mid-level club (sensing a trend yet?). Richard helps Middlesborough to 11th place in the league but the England international clearly wants more. He's currently winning the battle against Torin Mayhem in terms of caps and it'll be interesting to see how their careers compare to each other at the end of the day.

Al helps Genoa to 3rd place although he didn't play as big a role as he might have liked or be used to (only 22 appearances). He also wins the Italian Cup with Genoa and also makes his first ever appearances for the Italian national team.

K.N. plays decently for Celta this year, probably his best sustained spell ever. He plays the most leagues games in a single year in his career (33 games, previous best was 25 at Eintracht in 2007/2008 and 22 at Sevilla in 2011/2012). The Swiss international may finally be finding some maturity at age 30.

Rob finally help Celtic win the Scottish Premier League title as they run away with it (75 pts to St Mirren's 63 pts). However, Rob suffered a very bad broken foot in the penultimate game of the season and is reportedly out for 3 to 4 months. Rob was named as the Football Writer's Player of the Year for a 2nd straight season and was also named to the Premier League Team of the Year. Hopefully he makes it back ok from his injury.

Anthony Lee, AML, Tottenham: Anthony begins another season at Spurs and is entering the prime years of his career. Questions remain about the winger who, despite his ability, hasn't been able to win a major trophy so far.

K.N. Smith, MC, Arsenal: Another surprising move for K.N. Smith as Arsenal fork out 35 million for the 30 year old. That's a lot of money to pay for a player who averaged a 6.63 rating last season but maybe he's the missing link who can help Arsenal back to glory.

Qwikshot Norris, GK, Arsenal: Qwikshot's team is strong, at least on paper, but they've definitely started the season in less than spectacular fashion. Qwik has conceded 9 goals in the first 4 games of the year... it could be a long season if they don't improve.

Sean Treacy, DM, Werder Bremen: Another US player that the US coach refuses to cap, which must be frustrating for their fans since the US team actually has some really good players in Dan, Sean, Will Brown and Rob Nielsen. Sean is still at Werder Bremen, where he has become a household name.

Richard Dixon, GK, Middlesborough: Richard remains unhappy at Middlesborough and is trying to force a transfer if he can. The England keeper wants to win things now and he clearly feels Middlesborough isn't a good enough club to fulfil that need.

Torin Mayhem, GK, Wigan: Torin has 1 solitary England cap to his name so far, losing out to Richard's 4 caps. Torin is slightly less frustrated at Wigan this year although he is still keen to move if the opportunity arises.

Al Mighty, AMC, Genoa: The Italian international is getting concerned about his role at Genoa. He has hardly featured in Genoa's pre-season games and has not been given a chance to play competitively this season, though he is on the sub's bench.

Jace Hunter, GK, Brescia: Jace has 43 caps for Canada at 26 years of age. It looks quite possible he may hit a 100 caps. The Brescia keeper is another player looking to move but will a big club come in for a 26 year old keeper who has conceded 129 goals in 115 games?

Will Brown, ST, Palermo: Once again, Will Brown finds himself shouldering the burden to help Palermo get promoted back to Serie A again. He's still willing to stay at the club but this struggle is starting to wear on him. Tottenham have begun sending out feelers to get an indication whether they can acquire his services.

Rob Nielsen, ST, Celtic: Another of the lost US contingent, Rob is slowly recovering from his broken foot and has started some light training. He'll probably be back at 100% after a couple of months though, hopefully Celtic won't miss his services too much.

Tom Kislingbury, AMC, Preston: Looks like another year in the reserves for Tom. Will there be a last hurrah for Tom or is this the end of the journeyman's career?

Midseason Report 2015/2016:

Will Brown made a 19 million dollar move from Palermo to Blackburn Rovers.

Sean Treacy has had an injury plagued season thus far. He broke his foot in September 2015 and has only just returned to full-training on 1 February 2016.

Al Mighty makes a 18 million dollar move from Genoa to Roma.

Rob Nielsen also suffers a number of injuries, After recovering from his broken foot, he played for 18 games before suffering a hip injury and will be out till the tail-end of the season.

Anthony Lee has just about the best season a player can have from an individual perspective but club success still eludes him. World Footballer of the Year runner-up, World Player of the Year, European Footballer of the Year, European Midfielder of the Year, English Footballer of the Year and named to the English Premier League Select, there isn't much else that Anthony can win. His performances in the league were better than last season's as well but Spurs only managed 4th place.

Dayne wins the Euro Cup with Barcelona but they come in 2nd in the league, which is often considered failure by the Catalan fans. Named as the European Defender of the Year and Spanish League Player of the Year, he was also third best Portugese Foreign Based Player of the Year but still hasn't been called up to any national team yet. Shocking.

Schex also gets a League Winner's medal this year with Arsenal and his form gets him recognised from an individual perspective. He is named to the English Premier League Select for a 2nd year, is 3rd place in the English Players' Player of the Year award (behind Jesus Navas of Chelsea and Dimitri Payet of Portsmouth) and is runner-up in the French Player of he Year (behind Jeremy Menez of Roma). Apparently that's not good enough to get called up for an international cap either.

Newcastle doesn't win anything this year as they come in 7th in the league. GG is named to the English Premier League Select though and has a great goalscoring record for Newcastle so far (51 goals in 97 games).

Werder slip to 4th place in the league this year though they do manage to win the German Cup to ensure that they don't go another season without silverware. Sean had an injury-filled season though, as he was out with various injuries for about 10 weeks before his season came to an end with a sprained ankle. He'll be fit in time for next season though.

The Swiss international wins an English Premier League title, which will go with the Spanish League medal he won with Real Madrid some years back. He wasn't exceptional when he played but he did his role well enough to be considered an important first team player. K.N. thinks that Schex is a vital part of the Arsenal team btw.

Disappointingly, Benfica fall to 4th in the league this year although they did win the Portugese Cup. Dan contributed 17 goals in all competitions this year but that wasn't enough as the squad under-performed this year. Dan was recognised as the Portugese League Player of the Year runner-up (behind Felipe of Braga), was the runner-up for Forward of the Year (behind Felipe of Braga) and was third place in the Most MOM of the Year award.

Ah success, how sweet it tastes as Al Mighty wins the Serie A title with Roma. Al made 19 appearances for Roma after his mid-season move from Genoa and is regarded as an important part of the first team.

Will nearly gets relegated with Blackburn this season but they just escape in 17th place. They will be playing in Europe next year though as they won a League Cup title, when they beat Wigan 3-1. Will scored Blackburn's first goal before coming off in the 79th minute.

11th place in the league for Brescia means that Jace Hunter still waits for a trophy of any sort at club level. However, Jace Hunter was part of the North American Gold Cup winning side as they beat the US 2-0 in the finals and was named as the MOM.

Rob is expressing his displeasure at Celtic now, as he feels he needs to move to a bigger club. Will this be a repeat of his wrangle with New England some seasons back? It was a terrible season for Rob as he onnly made 21 appearances due to injuries (broken foot at the start of the season, 2 months out in the middle of the season with a hip injury). Celtic were 4th in the league as they missed their top striker a lot.
