There's a new FOF MP league starting. That's no major news. What is interesting about this one in particular is the way it is starting. The commish simmed through one season, but right before the end, voided the contracts of every player on the worst team in each division. Then he simmed to FA1-2 of the next season, and released the file. There will be 8 human players, fully Empty Cupboard. Now, here's the interesting part:
We will be bidding on draft picks like free agents.
The commish renamed 16 horrible players as "Round 2 16th Pick" and so forth. Those guys are available in free agency. whoever signs any of them will get the draft pick that he represents. There are also a number of stud free agents out there as well. So the interesting challenge will be prioritizing cap space for this crazy initial grab.
The Empty Cupboard Football League (ECFL), begins play with the first round of free agency (and draft class bidding) on Saturday. It will be hosted here at FOFC as the forum's "House League," and will start with 8 human players and 24 AI teams. It will run very quickly (a season in a little under a month in a half, 5 gameday sims per calendar week). Depending on how things go, there may be "expansion" opportunities
available in the future. Others are welcome and encouraged to follow along. Just thinking through and discussing draft/free agency strategies alone should be fascinating in and of itself.
The forum has just been opened up here (http://www.operationsports.com/fofc/forumdisplay.php?f=60).
