You are guaranteed to become universally recognized as the greatest at whatever occupation you decide to choose. You will live a long, fruitful life utterly devoid of failure. You will be seen as the gold standard for your occupation. Which field do you go into?

I think I'd choose musician, because you could have a long career, you have adoring fans, lots of side benefits. Being a scientist has it's appeal, but then you'd have to spend so much time working on complex problems that it wouldn't actually be enjoyable.

I'd say actor. Ton of money, and get to star with hot actresses.

I went entertainer. I think there would be something special about being a Frank Sinatra, Bob Hope, etc. The lingering effects of simply bringing happiness would be truly awesome.

I went musician, as I think it combines the selfish aspects that I would enjoy with a decently solid contribution to society as a whole.

Scientist. That might have to do with the fact that I've been listening to Bill Bryson's aubiobook version of A Short History of Nearly Everything, so that's basically what I've had on my mind a lot lately.

Also, although it would be a lot more work than actor or musician, I wouldn't have to travel all that much except for vacations, which I could take plenty of after I won the Nobel Prize and can get hundreds of thousands of dollars per lecture,

Isn't this a perfectly good rationale for choosing to be the greatest prostitute ever?

Is this one of those deal-with-the-devil things, where I sell my soul to be a great musician and wake up the next day and I am a fucking rapper?

Because if so, I want to change my vote.

Philanthropist helper like , like Michael Anthony was for John Beresford Tipton. That'd be cool. All the fun of philanthropy but none of the worry or responsibility.

I'm assuming the scientist category would cover the curing of caner and whatnot. Some others would be tempting but I'd politican simply because you would have the greatest ability to do the greatest good across many different areas -- increasing funding for medical research, provide universal health care, use diplomacy to improve the world, etc.

Otherwise writer would be a strong second. From an ego standpoint, great writers have an ability to transcend history in a positive way more than just about any other option. Shakespeare doesn't have many detractors but almost any leader or politican has someone who will argue against their greatness.

I'll go with businessman. Lots of money, few adoring fans and little travel. Rich and private is what I'd like.

Had to go with athlete, to me combining what would appeal to me the most as far as what to do for a living as well as then being (very likely) financially able to help a lot of other people/organizations.

Plus it'd be pretty sweet to be the first pro hockey/baseball/football player. Good thing jet lag has never been much of an issue.

I picked other, because of all the things that could make me tons of money or make me famous, I keep going back to what I have done most my adult life.

To be recognized as the greatest truck driver of all time would just be very cool to me. I also think that would not only mean the greatest driver behind the wheel, but the greatest at the business side of it as well. That way I would still live very comfortable, even be wealthy, as well as being able to make my own schedule and balancing time on the road and time at home.

I already feel I am one of the greatest of all time behind the wheel anyways, this just makes everyone else know it and I get the business side of it as well which I never really tested.

I think the greatest gets about $50 million a year though, would you be ok with a little more then that?

voted athlete because you'd only really have to work in your 20s-30s and then have the rest of your life to take it easy, spending your millions. i can't imagine being only a couple years away from retirement, and how kick-ass that would be.

I put politician, but only if it was in being a leader and directing the way for a better future.

To be simply the greatest "politician" could mean different things. You could be the greatest politician and be one of the greatest sons-of-bitches to ever rape the nation that ever lived. In fact, that fits the title better than my former reasoning.

Me and you buddy. This was a purely selfish choice; as much as I love sports, the rigors of any of my favorite pro games would take tolls on my body. If I'm Tom Cruise, I'm getting 20M for a few months worth of work a year, and I can do this from 20-65, if I so chose.
