View Full Version : MP Draft Question

I hold pick 1.1 in my MP league draft. There are two Adj. Rating 8.1's and then a little bit of a drop off in talent. The draft is deep in QB and DT, and the top two players also are a QB and DT.

QB's combine stats:
4.47 dash, 46 solecemic test, 17 strngth, 7.21 agil, 9-06 broad jump, 93 pos. drill, 28% developed. all red numbers except for broad jump (blue). 31 volatility, but only 2 leadership and 31 wants winner. How important are these ratings (leadership and wants winner) in a QB?

DT's
4.83, 28, 41, 7.24, 9-09, no pos. drill. All red numbers except for solecemic (blue).

I really like the DT, but I don't think I can trade down to 1.2. That being said, I don't want to take him at 1.1 because I can get a ton for that pick since everyone wants the QB. My needs are WR, CB, and RB, but none are out there that I would want to spend a top 5 pick on let alone 1.1.

I have a pretty serviceable QB going into his third year, at 36/49. Started all 16 games last year and had a QB rating of 80.2, 3306 yds, 17/13 TD to INT in a run oriented offense. I guess my question for the vets here is.... which team does better? A solid team across the board with a mediocre QB or a great QB with a mediocre team? In real life I would trade down or take the DT any day, but in FOF it seems to me that great QBs are almost more valuable than they should be. Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.

Take the QB. You may never get another chance.

I have to say I agree.. You don't get the number 1 pick often, and even less often is there a QB of that caliber available.

This is a golden opportunity for you.

By the way- Are you able to get to the OSFL pages? Seems like it has been down all day.

Yes, it has been down all day. My host is having some serious issues. They told me it should be back up in 2 hours, but that was 4 hours ago. I posted a thread in Off Topic that I'll update when I get more information.

P.S. You saw what happens with a great team/mediocre QB when Rex Grossman/Kyle Orton lost games for the Bears in the playoffs.

Me neither and it's driving me nuts....

Take the QB and then get him a stud WR. Then make sure you have a good left tackle. After that Bob's your uncle.

if you dont take the QB you should be kicked out of the League for stupidity. you just landed in every MP GM's dream spot, the first pick and a monster stud QB to draft.

Take the QB. The worst case scenario (as long as he stays healthy) is you trade him in a few years for multiple first rounders if you don't need him.

i'll probably end up taking the qb, but.... really? were the chargers kicked out of the league for stupidity when they traded down instead of taking vick? when my two starting CBs are rated 40/40 and 42/42? or my starting RB was 32/36? just saying, it can't be that stupid to trade down.

Yeah, take the QB, you don't get this chance again. I would never take a DT that high, personally.

If you still don't want to burn the 1.1, then you need to get a top 10 pick this year, 2 future #1s and their 2nd rounder this year at the minimum. If you can auction it off like that, then I'd at least consider doing so.

The bust rate on highly rated FOF QB's not named Ernie Thomas is pretty low.

can you post the bars on the QB you have? Depending on how he's performing statistically, and the way his bars look, he can definitely be better his rating indicates.

Meaning if he has pretty good ratings in Avoid Rush, accuracy, 3rd down passing, read defense, etc, he might be serviceable for a few years.

You can win with a medium QB, it's just quite a bit harder.

6. Ernie Thomas, QB, Michigan. 5'11", 212 lbs. There are some concerns that Ernie is a bit short for success as a WOOF quarterback, but in a league desperate for young gunslingers to lead teams, he is the best prospect in this draft. He blew everyone away at the combine, and did nothing but make throws in college. If he can overcome his height issues and prove he can learn a pro offense, the team that takes him will be happy for a LONG time.

Apparently he couldn't overcome his height issues or lack of formations...

As somebody who is still thinking about buying this game, it would be disappointing if this really were a slam-dunk decision.

Or Marcus Graham.... (QB I took 1.2 in the enfl that busted....)

I'd probably draft the QB, his read defense, accuracy and sense rush are all pretty bad. He might throw a decent long and medium ball, but he's going to take quite a few sacks and probably force it into coverage too much.
