So I traded up to draft an awesome RT at 3rd overall. Great...the piece of the puzzle that will lead me to a 3rd championship.

Preseason comes around. Time to get him some experience. He'll start for me.

But wait...I go to simulate the games and it tells me that there is a player on the depth chart that is no longer active. Hmm...let me try again. When I open up depth charts, his spot is vacant. I put him in there again...same error...go back, it's vacant again. Save the game and change his position...no luck...change his name..no luck. He's on the active roster, of course.

Any ideas?

first thing I would check is to be sure that "coach resets depth chart prior to each game" under Edit Global Options is off.

Make sure you have the latest patch and try again.

i have version 4.0...just got the CD a month and a half ago. On the solecismic site it only has a patch TO 4.0...is there another one I need?

there is a 4.0b patch on the website, that is the one you need.

I ran into the same problem, WITH patch 4.0b. Had a rookie stud wide reciever who I wanted to get some playing time. This wasn't even preseason. I put him in and when I went to sim the game, got the same message. Went to the depth chart and there was a vacant spot. I put him in and went to sim the game. Same error. Go to depth chart, same blank spot. I had to put another receiver in for him. This happened in the next two games. Finally the receiver that I was FORCED to use got hurt and then it let me put in my stud rookie receiver.

I reported the problem to Jim. Even emailed him a copy of my save file. I never heard anything back from him. I think you should report the problem as well - supportATsolecismic.com

Ok, good...it's happened to someone else. Not to be ruthless or anything, just now I know I'm not going crazy.

I had a save from the year prior, so I just went back and re-did the draft. I noticed that the team that drafted him didn't use him at all in the preseason or the season, so the entire player must be jacked up.

I don't have a save file anymore from when he was on my team but I can send the one I have with him on the other team when I report the problem.
