I'm running Vista and with SP1 out now I was just looking for feedback here of any issues you've had or heard of from updating. Thanks in advance.

I would have a nice long chat with Mr. Stelmack...he had a ton of trouble upgrading if I remember correctly.

Worked fine for me. Fixed the awful issue where it prepares to copy for an eternity. Just set aside an hour, it takes forever.

Do you mean upgrading TO vista or upgrading to SP1?

I installed Windows Vista and SP1 with no problem on my new computer.

I had Vista, I installed SP1, it trashed my machine, Microsoft couldn't help much. Check the Dynasty thread for details. I had to reinstall XP, then Vista (since I had an upgrade license), then SP1, then I was okay.

To be fair to Microsoft, when I put a 30GB drive in on Thursday to put XP on for some older games, my SATA drive decided it had had enough and refused to POST anymore, so Vista may have been trying to warn me all along...

I've been running Vista for a few months and updated to SP1 last week. The update itself went very smoothly and I had no problems at all. I can now do a network copy to the full speed of my hardware and the copy itself starts immediately with a reasonably accurate time estimate. I have had one blue screen since the update to SP1, but I had plenty of them before the update as well. Overall, I think it was an improvement.

I also installed SP1 with only a single small issue. The install went fine, but when it was done, it switched the roles of my primary and secondary monitors. That was easy enough to fix.

Come to think of it, the upgrade removed my second monitor completely. As far as likely SP problems go, I'll happily take that one.

SP1 is a pretty decent improvement, I wouldn't hesitate to upgrade.

That said, I wouldn't hesitate to downgrade back to XP either :)

I updated to SP1 today. One problem has come up. Occasionally when I click a link or icon I get a pretty loud clicking noise from the speakers. I'm not really sure what it is but it just started. Should I be looking to update my sound card or what?

I did update today and so far things seem to be running faster and no other issues to this point.

Well, I'm now chatting online with Microsoft (or else a very talented bot). Automatic update, in it's infinite wisdom, decided to update my Vista to SP1.

Everything worked fine in stage 1 and 2. Unfortunately when it got to stage 3 it hit 100%, rebooted, went back to the stage 3 screen at 0%, eventually hit 100%, rebooted, went back to the stage 3 screen, and so on. So my computer has been stuck in this loop since about 5:00am, with apparently no end in sight.

Safe mode didn't work, Last know good config didn't work, have no disks since it was pre-installed, so i'm waiting to hear what to do.

From the problem description, I understand that you are not able to install SP 1 , at the stage 3 of 3 , the computer restarts automatically , am I right ?

I have checked with my resources and with that I have only suggestion to help you is whether if you get Vista DVD from your neighbor or from any friends you can come back into the chat we can try to fix your issue. But as you said that you are at work and the computer is at home , we have only option is that you may need to contact the system manufacturer to perform start-up repair and system restore

Actually, I'm starting to think it's a real person - just got a call from DC saying that this was Kokila's supervisor and asked if there was anything he could do for me since she wasn't able to resolve this. He then sent me an email with his email addy and working hours, along with Kokila's email and working hours.

That all fine and dandy BUT I STILL HAVE A COMPUTER THAT DOESN'T WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else see that Intel has decided to skip Vista and not install on their corporate workstations? They decided to just keep XP on their systems until the successor to Vista comes out. Talk about a telling move...........
