I just bought an Ubuntu box

I just got a new pc and I'm thinking about putting Ubuntu on there. Only problem is that it has crappy windows xp media center edition. Every time I've tried to put XP Pro on there the install blue screens. Perhaps Ubuntu will fare better.

I know, I shouldn't have bought a box with media center on it, but I got a great deal and I never anticipated having problems with xp pro. Live and learn.

If you do go Ubuntu, that's what I'm thinking of doing too, so maybe we can swap war stories throughout the process.

I'll have to look into my options with running games on Ubuntu. I still have a nice laptop with Vista on it, but my daughter and I play WoW with this as one of the machines. I might be forced to dual boot.

I just discovered that you can install Ubuntu essentially as an App in Windows, then choose it when you boot. Might be an option? Although I guess it doesn't solve your crappy Media Center issues.

Yeah, I just saw your linux post. Plan on checking out the ubuntu forums, but from what I can tell so far WoW at least is doable with wine.

Yes, you need to install Wubi to do this.
