So today my company agreed to give me the additional title of Trainer which will be on top of my commissioned sales job. This means that I will need to give up an additional 4 days off (+/-) per month but I'm getting an awesome pay raise (salary) and I can keep selling homes and getting a commission. This within weeks of their warning that my wife's head is on the block for the next round of layoffs (although her sale yesterday may alleviate some of the pressure).

Man, I am just ecstatic. Things have just been hemorrhaging lately. The dog's knee surgery, the other dog's problem teeth and now surgery, my car's monthly issues, my wife's enormous gas bill since she was reassigned really far from home, etc. I couldn't seem to stem the tide when it came to the budget. Every month, it was something to push us in the negative that would pop up.

Now there is a higher likelihood that we wont need to have another roommate and things should stabilize on the homefront financially.

I'm just floating on a cloud right now....just awesome. They can turn the faucet off at anytime but if I save up some dough I may actually be able to get a new car at some point!! Im happy so Im sharing with my FOFC family and inviting the expected shots from the usual suspects but screw 'em. WOOHOO.

Congrats! I liked today as well. Nine Inch Nail tickets close to the stage, and my car came back from the shop with more body repair than I thought. :D

I am in a good mood today as well. Our spring concert was last night (it was the best concert we've ever given, the whole school is buzzing about it today) and I have no more major committments before summer vacation. Huzzah!

I am not in a great mood today, but I admit that it does help to see that others are, so I'm getting better.

I had to give a short (10 min) presentation on nuclear security in my 9:05 class this morning. Locked myself out coming back from the shower at about 8:45. Found a hallmate with a cell phone, but the person who should have picked up didn't. None of the RA's answered their door, so by now it's 9:10. So I said fuck it, put my shorts back on and walked about 1/2 mile barefoot and shirtless (in 50 degree rain) to the gym where I thought I had a shirt and some shoes. All I could find was a lacrosse pinny (similar to a wife-beater), so I throw that on and walk the remaining 1/2 mile to class, getting there at 9:40, 15min before it ends. "I'm ready to go now if you want me to." "Umm, ok?"

So I gave a presentation shoeless in effectively a wife-beater and shorts and absolutely no notes. Did well enough though, at least a B, then after getting back finished a paper and turned it in. So I have now no work until Tuesday, 3 steaks and a 12-pack of Sam Adams Summer Ale in the fridge and a 10-keg barbecue lined up for tomorrow. I'd say I'm feeling pretty happy.

Great news!

I'm having a mixed, but mostly good day myself. Last day of classes as an undergrad today, which was HPR 105 Lab at 11 (read: gym class) and we got to choose our activity, so I chose a hike through the woods and it was just a nice, relaxed way to end my undergrad classes career.

Check came today that I was expecting, so got to cash it. Unfortunately, I couldn't cash the State tax refund check I got two years ago, so that was a little disappointing, though it wasn't much.

Got to the dining hall too late for lunch, so had to settle for pizza, green jello and chocolate milk as the tweener period between lunch and dinner. Then panicked because my keys weren't in my pockets, nor were they in the dining hall or the bank.

Luckily, the Housing Director was around to give me the spare key to my room and I found that I locked myself out, because my keys are thankfully still here. :D

Probably see 10,000 B.C. at the budget theatre in a couple hours before I buckle down to Hell Weekend.

Two projects due Monday worth 40% of one class's grade, another final on Monday.... then things get a lot easier. Two take-home finals and a couple of small papers due Friday and the Statistics final Thursday afternoon.

If all goes as planned, I will officially be done as an undergrad as of that Thursday afternoon final and a weekend of much celebration will ensue.

We mailed out some samples to different areas of the country to test our shipper, DHL, and the first one arrived today and the quote was, "I got home and there it was sitting on my doorstoop and it looked awesome. Like something straight out of the past." That is exactly what Im going for so as long as things go smoothly over the next couple of weeks we could be launching here shortly. I think Ill be able to put a coupon code out there for friends so Ill post a coupon code on here should anyone on FOFC choose to join in on this sweet delicacy. :)

JINX!!!

Apparently they ran it "up the flagpole and need to get HR approval and some other people's approval." This didnt seem to be the case on Friday so now Im in a holding pattern again.

However, today it was revealed that my community is #3 in the country of all builders (300 communities qualified [got enough surveys returned]) when it comes to customer satisfaction so I have that hanging over them too if they try to "persuade" me to do this for little or for free. Na ga da. 3rd in the country, pay up.

Well the whole thing had gone up in smoke because the CEO didnt want to sign off on it, so I found out. Everyone was for it except for him. Well I guess today they convinced him (supposedly) and Ill be starting the second job soon and the extra salary. I'll be giving up about 4 off days, work some extra time on Fridays after the meeting and do some extra stuff. Well worth it for the extra money in these uncertain times. Anyways, perhaps this is one of my "moments". You never know they could nix it at anytime so I wont be counting any chickens.

Hey Mac, any good sales books you'd recommend when breaking in a small group to the idea of more frequent training?

You have found a way to get paid extra for working late on Fridays and working on "off-days"? I must be in the wrong line of work.

correct. I already use a lot of Jeff Shore's stuff, and a little bit of Rich Tiller's, but Im looking for more stuff regarding individual goal setting stuff and then group activity/team building stuff that isnt too cheesy for the beginning since we havnt had true training, in this division, in a long time. Generally the team is above average but there is always polishing work that can be done, etc.

Have people role play. I had to read something in character as Santa Claus once. I thought I was just there to drive a truck and set up the trailer. I won't recover from that, ever. :D

This within weeks of their warning that my wife's head is on the block for the next round of layoffs (although her sale yesterday may alleviate some of the pressure).

I meant to ask earlier how much you got for her. Is the market for wives strong right now? It would be nice to know that some part of the nation's economy was holding up.

She's still here AND had a lucky month last month so in this "What have you done for me lately" economy, she seems to have gotten herself some wiggle room. :)
