Ikariam...free online Civ game?

Has anyone heard of this? www.ikariam.com is the site, my husband found it through some people at work and he's playing, I'm looking at it to play, and also to teach my son and use it as sort of a "history lesson"...looks pretty cool, figured I'd throw it out here and see what everyone thought :)
