Alright, I will be running a dynasty but I want to make it interactive.

My plan, I will attempt to recruit the FOFC talent to the school I select, but for the ones I am not able to sign, I will be keeping track of them.

Everyone will be starting out as Recruits, and tracked for their time in the college ranks, and if they move beyond, into the pros.

Please Provide the Following:

Player Name:
Position:
State:
Height: (If you want to, I will find the closest recruit to match)

That should be it for now...it's all about fun....

Utah Valley State College hires Church Ball coach to take over.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/thumb/e/e9/UtahValleyStateWolverines.png/180px-UtahValleyStateWolverines.png

AP Orem, Utah - A university much maligned the past few seasons just went and shocked the NCAA basketball community by hiring someone with very little basketball coaching experience. Dennis Thomas, the 34 year old former high school football coach was picked by the school board to lead this team.

"Anyone that knows anything about church ball can attest to the fact it is a rough game, and even worse than the high school arena, in fact I have heard some of the NBA players want nothing to do with that game, it's to rough for them." Dennis was quoted as saying.

Is this the right move for Utah Valley State? So far season ticket sales are starting to speed up, as people are curious as to what is going to happen. Whether or not Coach Thomas' no nonsense football approach will work with a basketball setting has yet to be seen.

I arrive in my office, the rush of interviews with the local and national press has been painful. They joy of taking this position has drained me of any life right now.

I slump down behind my desk and boot up my computer. Several loud dings emit from my computer, "Email, wouldn't you know" I say to myself. Clicking open my outlook, I notice 2 from the AD and one from Scouting services

The first email is my budget for the season. I knew I wouldn't get much, but damn, $143,000 for everything does not help matters. I am going to have to hunt for my recruits a touch closer to home.

The second one was about scheduling and setting it up. I know RPI is king, but I am thinking I might want to schedule some patsies, but I am not 100% sure there yet, I have until the end of August to let him know.

And the last one is the email from the scouting services asking me to place my orders for the recruit reports they put out.

Looking over the roster, I notice I will have to hunt for 3 new players. I definitely need to pick up a PG and a SF, the third player can be from anywhere, and I will take the best player that fits for us there.

Needing to work out and clear my head, I take a few laps around the track, and I begin thinking, where can I go, to bring in talent besides the west, and then it hit me, the Midwest. They have a lot of talent and a lot of schools. I know we will be competing, but it will be different with us. We are that one unique star out of many.

I hurry back to my office and pick up the phone and punch in the number for Scouting Services, and I purchase the following reports:

Midwest Scouting Report - Basic
Western Scouting Report - Basic

The daily grind hasn't been to bad, and the 100K a year salary in Utah isn't to bad either. I haven't done much with it though. The wife has managed to buy herself a new car, but I am still driving my old beat up Jeep to the campus.

Walking into the office and booting up the computer, I notice an email from the AD, he wants me to let him know which summer camps I am going to attend.

I quickly pull up my list, I have been planning this out for a while, but I have narrowed it down to the following camps:

Indy Elite Camp
Las Vegas Revue
Chicago Prep Revue

Now I almost know, that none of the players at the Indy Elite will come to us, but I am going to get us out there, and let people know we are serious about becoming a contender.

Speaking of becoming serious, I also let the AD know about the scheduling....I want some good teams, but I want to play at home. I need the incoming recruits and the current guys to see support from the community. Once that happens, it will be a better draw.

Ahh, sitting back at my desk and pouring through my files, I have picked the kids I want to target:

Player Name: John Williams
Position: Power Forward
State: Indiana

JUCO kid from Indiana, my initial phone call, he wants to play close to home. He came right out and told us he isn't interested, but I think with enough of a push we can get him that way. I place one of the assistants in charge of watching his game tape. He has a little bit of interest in us.

Player Name: Dan Wilson
Position: PG
State: MI

Dan is a 17 year old HS senior that also has zero interest in us, but in the phone call, he let me know that location was key and he wasn't to concerned with prestige. I will watch his game tape.

Player Name: Jace Hunter
Position: SG
State: Utah

Another JUCO player in is SO year, told me up front, not interested and wouldn't give me 5 minutes of phone time...I might have to strike him off, but I hand his tape off to the assistant.

Sean Treacy
Small Forward
New Mexico

The only SF coming from NM this year. He gave me five minutes of time, told me about his parents, but when I tried to ask him about some of the different areas that he prefers, he got quiet, and then our calls dropped. He wouldn't answer me. One of the assistants will watch his tape and let me know.

Player Name: Sam Jolley
Position: PF/C
State: Indiana

18 year old senior out of Indiana, slightly concerned about his graded, but he can play ball.

Player Name: Heikki Javonen
Position: PF
State: Arizona

Another 18 year old senior, I am out of talk time for the recruits, will have to touch base next week.

Name: Dayne Ho
Position: SG
State: Utah

One of the true excited kids to want to see us. I am watching his game tape and he has been invited on a campus visit. We will see how the visit goes, but I think I have my first scholarship offer.

Received an email from Dayne Ho:

Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I didn't think the visit was worthwhile. Nothing personal but I think I'll look around some more before I make a decision.

That hurts, I need to work him a bit harder, we need him. I will place a call to him this week.

In the meantime, we need to map some things out before we head to the Summer Camps.

John Williams
I am not going to worry about calling him this week. We will just watch some game tape right now.

Dan Wilson
We are going to watch his game tape, plus scout a live game.

Jace Hunter
He is one we really need to try and swing our way. We will be watching his game tape, scouting a live game, although he still won't give me 5 minutes.

Sean Treacy

We will just watch a game tape this week.

Sam Jolley
Again, another game tape watching session. I was able to find out he has some overbearing parents, they are wealthy, but location and PT are key for him right now.

Heikki Javonen
Grew up in a single family home, is concerned about location and PT, I think we can provide both.

Dayne Ho
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->Parents don't have a lot of money, he is concerned about playing close to home, pt and academics aren't that important to him. I am watching him live this week, plus we are going to extend a scholarship offer to him immediately.

None of our recruits were in the Indy Camp, but it was a blast. I actually got more media attention than some of the other big name coaches, I think it rubbed them a little, but hell who cares.

Heikki attended the Las Vegas Revue and was ranked in the top 10 there. That will play to his advantage compared to ours.

With the way Heikki played at the revue we have to offer him and hope that helps a lot.

Jace Hunter finally decided to talk to me, and he gave me a ton of info...main important ones are...he wants some PT and wants to be close to home.

Sam Jolley attended the Chicago Prep Revue and did not stand out.

I am hoping some of these boys are getting knocked off their pedastal a bit as we push harder into recruiting.

After this week, we roll into a dead period for recruiting.

A dead period for recruiting, all we can do is watch game film and call recruits, based upon how things are going with my current targets I might have to branch out and find some others. I will do some searching this week.

I had to call Dayne, let him know we are still interested and see if we can boost his interest to us.

Also, we are watching some game film.

Heikki is another one I am calling, and letting him know we are extending a scholarship offer to him. I am hoping the early commitment will help out.

Looking at some of the current recruits, I pick two others to target...

SF Derek Kimbrough, Jordan High School, Sandy, UT 6'6" 207 14 PPG

Derek has been added to the watch/call list, and I placed a call finding out the following information:

His parents are alumni, and are very supportive, that is a plus for us. But also, Location is a major factor and he wants PT as well. Prestige to him is the last thing on his list. The one thing is, there are some other teams ahead of us. We are going to watch some game film on him.

PF Jason Medley, Cottonwood High School, SLC, UT 6'8" 198 11 PPG / 9 RPG

Jason has been added to the watch/call list, and I placed a call finding out the following information:

His parents are alumni, and are very supportive, that is a plus for us. But also, Location is a major factor and he isn't to concerned with PT and prestige. The one thing is, there are some other teams ahead of us. We are going to watch some game film on him.

With the two new recruits on our list, it allows us some leeway.

We also choose to watch Game Tapes on all the other recruits.

Eval Recruiting...time to see if we can get some others to trip to campus.

Derek and Jason both get campus invites, plus we are scouting their live games this week.
Dayne is getting another live scouting opportunity.

Heikki also agreed to trip to campus which is a big win for us.

Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I didn't think the visit was worthwhile. Nothing personal but I think I'll look around some more before I make a decision.

4 visits, 4 emails all practically telling me they aren't happy with our campus. That is going to kill us.

So I had to dig into it, and found that our 3rd Assistant Coach was basically a poison to us and was let go. My search wasn't for to long, as I was able to bring in Brad Wyatt, a solid 3rd all the way around.

Heikki completely removed us from consideration, we informed him today we are revoking the scholarship offer. No sense in wasting it there.

We are going to invite some of the other guys out....

Sean Treacy and Jace hunter both accepted a trip out.

August 7, 2008

Jace enjoyed the trip, but had a few others. We offered a scholarship to him and hope he accepts.

Dayne has lowered us on his list.

I am going to have to hit the national lists again and bring in some others, this talent pool is rejecting me left and right.

PG Earl Dyer from Az gets a call as well. Earl accepted a campus trip
SF Vernard Hancock from UT gets a call, Showed interest but told me we were not on the list.
SF David Toxey from UT gets a call, David Accepts a campus trip
C Jon Morris from UT gets a call, Jon accepts a campus trip

If we do not get a positive vibe from these guys, I might have to take drastic measures.

MacroGuru

August 14, 2008

A slight surprise, I login to the email this morning, and I see 3 emails from my past 3 visits..
PG Dyer tells me it was a waste of time and SF Toxey says the same.

I then click on John Morris, expecting to see the same, instead I see "Coach - I just wanted to let you know that it was a cool visit. I like the campus and the people - it will be tough for me to make up my mind but I'll let you know when I do."

C John Morris will get an offer from us.

We also will call and have SF Hancock come take a visit.

Dan Wilson still refuses to visit as does Sam Jolley and John Williams. As of this time, I am pulling them off of our call and watch list, it looks like they will be going to another school.

So I have 2 more visits to offer out this week, and I pull up the recruits on the phone....

SG Jerald Smith from WY, and accepts the visit
PF Adrian Merfeld from UT, and accepts the visit. We luck out as one of his parents are alumni.

I also call John Morris to let him know we plan to offer. I have been touching base with Dayne Ho and Jace, and if it doesn't look like one of them will swing our way, so I might be forced to pull their offer, especially if Adrian likes us enough.

Another week of we hated your campus emails from potential recruits. I hate Utah County, I have to tell you, the lack of fun here is what is killing us.

Back to the recruiting board..

PF Kelley Oquin from HI received a call and accepts the trip, dang this one costs me.
PF Jacob Daniels from UT received a call and accepts the trip
C Brooks Bryson from HI received a call and accepts the trip, I was hoping to get a two for one deal with the airlines and they laughed at me.

PF Kelly Oquin from HI loved the visit and right now, we are sitting at #5 on his list. We need to move ourselves up.

So for now, we are still trying to find those diamonds in the rough...

All the PG/SG that have interest in us we have contacted, we might have to try a long shot or two.

SF Mike Cook from CA receives a call and accepts the trip.
SF Glenn Cornell from UT receives a call and accepts the trip
C Donald Winter a JC from UT receives a call and accepts the trip. Also, one of his parents is an alumni of the school.

SF Glenn Cornell liked his visit

And it's recruiting time, I hate the phone. I like to talk with kids face to face, sell the school and our philosphy to them.

Right now I am able to take 4 trips, so I am definitely hitting our 3 recruits with our offers, if after my visit does not persuade them towards us, then I will move revoke the offer.

Jace Hunter is going to get a visit from me and while I am there, I will be pitching location as he constantly told me he wants his parents and younger brother to be able to see him play.

Dayne Ho is also going to get a visit and as he also said location is a major factor because of his girlfriend, that 20 minute drive from his/her house down to campus should be nice.

John Morris gets a visit and we are pushing location on him as well. He wants to have his ailing grandfather see him play college ball, and we are able to provide that.

My next trip, consider it a vacation, I am heading to Hawaii to visit Kelley Oquin, however I can't use location on this one so I will talk a bit about PT with him.

Cornell has us as #2 on his list and will be on my trip list next week.

As for new recruit contacts, we are going nationwide and seeing if we can get those that haven't shown not interested or interested.

SG Steve Crawford from NY gets a call and rejects the visit.
SG Damon Jack from OR gets a call and tells me from the get go there is no interest.
PF Hayden Boykin from AZ gets a call and accepts a visit.

So this week with the coach out visiting 4 recruits we have one coming in, lord I hope they use the hot blonde cheerleader for the tour..

Wow, I am tired, Hawaii was nice but jet lag has set in. I was just happy the 3 prior visits were all in state and close to each other.

Getting back into the office, I log on to the computer and check emails.

Jace Hunter - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that both my family and I thought your visit went really well. We like you and the school and I'm definitely going to be giving you some consideration. Talk to you soon.

With luck, he attached his list to the mail, and we are sitting at #1! Please do not let me screw this one up.

Dayne Ho - Coach - Thanks for coming to visit but my parents weren't too impressed. They think there are better options for me and I'll be meeting some other coaches. Thanks anyways though and good luck.

Dang, there goes the offer, I am off Daynes list and I now have a scholarship to move around.

John Morris - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that you really impressed us when you came to visit. You'll definitely be hearing from me soon. Hope to be on the court with you next season!

And I look even farther through my email and I have a second one from him...Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I've made my decision and I've chosen your school. I look forward to playing for you in the near future.

My first Recruit! Awesome news!

Kelley Oquin - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that both my family and I thought your visit went really well. We like you and the school and I'm definitely going to be giving you some consideration. Talk to you soon.

I have to admit, I do know that we are battling with Hawaii for this guy, they are #1 due to location and we are #2, but I do not know if I want to use my last scholarship on him.

Travel time as I hit the trails again...

SF Glenn Cornell is in Utah, and I am going to pay hima visit, he lives with his mother who is a Utah State alumni, they do not think we exist in basketball..we will see. I am going to pitch the playing time angle with him as location is a bit of a stretch with a 4.5 hour drive.

John Williams will be my long flight as we head into Indiana, I need to see if I can convince him to come and play in Utah. From all of our conversations he was big into PT and I think we can get him in a lot this next season.

PG Earl Dryer is someone we have to meet with and focus on PT as well. Losing Dayne was big as he was our one PG recruit I was hoping to convince.

PG Victor Newby is another I will visit and see if we can land him.

We will also have to invite a couple of new PG's and SGs to campus.

PG Virgirl Simpson of UT came off a little standoffish at first but he accepted a visit.

One other email that was important came in, our schedule:

@ Tulane
@ Austin Peay
Wisconsin (How the hell we got them to come here is shocking)
@ Jackson St.
Nebraskas (Another Shocker)
SC Upstate
Norfolk State
Columbia

@ Winston Salem St
@ Presbytyerian
Savannah St
@ Longwood
@ CSU Bakersfield
Chicago St
@ North Carolina Central
TX Pan American
@ NJIT
Winston Salem St

I am happy with the schedule and shocked we were able to get Wisconsin, Nebraska and UTEP at home. The McKay Events center better be pumped....

Another weary week on the road, I login to check email in the morning..

First thing I notice is our recruit that visited.

Virgil Simpson - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I appreciate the time your staff gave me on my visit. I've got some more schools to check out before I make my decision though.

Thats a definite plus.

Then move on to how my visits went.

Glenn Cornell - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that both my family and I thought your visit went really well. We like you and the school and I'm definitely going to be giving you some consideration. Talk to you soon.

John Williams - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that both my family and I thought your visit went really well. We like you and the school and I'm definitely going to be giving you some consideration. Talk to you soon.

Victor Newby - Coach - Thanks for coming to visit but I just can't see myself playing for you. Nothing personal but this is a big decision and I want to spend the next four years at the right place for me. Thanks anyways.

Earl Dryer - Coach - Thanks for coming to visit but I just can't see myself playing for you. Nothing personal but this is a big decision and I want to spend the next four years at the right place for me. Thanks anyways.

Glenn is a definite if we want him. John has us at #9 on his list, but he has yet to visit us or receive an offer. I will offer John, and see if I can get him out to visit. I pick up the phone to call him, and he just tells me the time isn't right to come out. "Ok" I say, and let him know we are offering him the scholarship.

If i can't move us up on Johns list, I will turn the offer towards Glenn.

I am a little intrigued as to why he won't come out to the campus.

Well, the email I received this morning answered why John wouldn't come to visit- Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I've made my decision and I've decided to go to IUPUI next season. Thanks for your interest. I'm sure you will be able to use the scholarship for another great player.

Oh well, however I did visit a few others, Dan Wilson being one and he was happy with the visit. He refuses to visit, so I hate to say it, but I am not going to waste the scholarship.

So I take the offer and roll it to SF Gary Cornell.

Meanwhile, I am going to visit a few others to line them up just in case we are turned down.

We are also starting practices this week. So while I am gone this first week, the assistants will run it.

Our offense we will practice the Flex, Princeton and Triangle and on defense we will work on Man to Man and the 1-2-2

Well, at practice this week, I was speaking to Coach Forman and he mentioned that a few of the players caused some minor conflicts this week. I told him to outline them in an email and get it to me.

Well he did

Coach, I know you have so much to do in running the team that sometimes you're not aware of the little things. I thought I would take a few minutes to bring to your attention some things from this week of practices.

Mike Moseley had one or two minor conflicts this week. Nothing to be overly concerned about though.

Ron Williams had one or two minor conflicts this week. Nothing to be overly concerned about though.

Our backup PG and our talented Freshman SG...not to much to worry about, but I know who to keep my eye on.

As far as our recruits go, I wish they would verbal or sign, We hit Jace's #2 spot and I am concerned now he might not sign. We are still Gary's #1

And for everyone participating:

John Williams verbaled to IUIPI
Dan Wilson verbaled to Valprasio
Jace Hunter no decision
Sean Treacy no decision
Sam Jolley we just found out that we are #1 on his list despite him telling us different, if we lose Jace, I think we need to move here.
Heikki Javonen no decision
Dayne Ho no decision

I'm sitting at my desk scouring through some of our scouting material of our future opponents when I hear a knock on the door, looking up, I spot Coach Forman.

"Hey Coach, do you have a minute?"

"Sure thing, what can I do for you?"

He slowly moves himself around the chair and takes a seat, letting out a long sigh. This man is tired and frustrated, and he is showing it.

"Listen Coach, I just wanted to bring this to your attention but I was told by one of our players that Chris Lee and Travis McMillian got into a bit of an argument after practice one day this week. I don't know how serious it was but I figured it was best to bring it to your attention. You may want to see how the team relationship stands with our players based on this incident."

"They what?" I was flabergasted, that was one of the first rules I laid down when I got here. No fighting.

"Yeah, I am getting tired of this. We are coaches not baby sitters, these parents....ah nevermind, it's been a long week coach."

With that said, I start calling the players, we are going to start with the two in question.

I was able to get a hold of Chris Lee and he told me he would work on changing and stop getting into fights. Travis McMillan says the same, they know I am serious. Both of them were informed, one more fight will equal a week long suspension.

Not only is it my birthday, but I get to celebrate it in the office, trying to figure out if I want to redshirt anyone.

I decide to redshirt:

SG Daniel Rivers - With our talented Freshman Ron Williams starting and 2 other upperclasman ahead of him, what better way than to sit him for a season and let him get better.

C Calvin Drew - He is a Freshamn, and we have PF and C that are all around the same height, so this is the best deal for him.

I also receive scouting reports for Tulane and Austin Peay, I will look them over here soon.

This is a busy week for us, as it is Early LOI signing week, and then we also play Tulane and Austin Peay.

We are rated equal with Tulan at every position except for PF. Their best player is their SF.
They play a princeton style offense. For defense they are a pure man-to-man team.

I am all about Freedom on the offense and we have the talent to allow it, I am going to give the guys about 30% offensive sets for this game against Tulane. I want to favor a balanced attack.

Our main offensive set will be the Triangle, while defensively we will work on the 1/2 court man.

November 16, 2008 - Gameday.

I have never been so nervous in my life. We are playing against Tulane at their house, the plane flight here was good. The bus ride over to the hotel good. The crazy atmosphere, not so good.

I wasn't expecting it, it sent my nerves for a loop. The only way to do this, is get out there right?

And we do.

It was an amazing back and forth game that we took into OT. If we could pull this out, I would be excited.

Unfortunately we don't and lose in OT 74-72. I can't be upset at these guys. They played their hearts out. But Tulane has a player in their SG, Waitari Rush who racked up 22 points on us. They also launched 17 3PT attempts to our 4. Statistically, we shot better, they just forced us to turn it over a few times more.

The only thing I am upset with. We should have won this game.

On the flight back home, I look at the Austin Peay report. They are a zone team that looks to be able to dominate us on the inside.

I am going to keep the amount of offensive sets at 30, with us running the triangle and still keeping the 1/2 court man on defense.

Dan Wilson - Verbal to Valpraisio
Jace Hunter - UVSC is #2 on his list.

Dayne Ho - Do not know

Note: I decided to Sim the whole season out...

Well, in our first season we did better than I thought we would.

We went 13 - 14, but had wins against Wisconsin, UTEP and Nebraska which to us was big time. Out of all the independents, none made it into the NCAA and only 1 made it into the NIT.

The board was pleased with the talent and the fact we finished 1st in our conference. However, we did not amass the 15 wins they wanted. It hurt my chances at trying to increase the budget for next season. I learned a lot recruiting this season and will conserve my money a bit more. I am going to focus on more local talent if at all possible.

As for the Recruits here, we have the following...

John Williams - Signed with IUPUI
Dan Wilson - Signed with Valprasio
Jace Hunter - Signed with UVSC (YEAH!!)
Sean Treacy - Did not sign, went JUCO
Sam Jolley - DNQ
Heikki Javonen - Did not sign, went JUCO
Dayne Ho - Did not sign, went JUCO

I just find it funny, these guys I went gung ho on at the start of the season, went the JC route instead of taking the gig with us.

Also, I will not export for the Pros until one of the players either declares for the Draft or they are seniors

As for UVSC we inked the following

C John Morris
SF Glenn Cornell
SG Jace Hunter

Coming into the new season we are sitting at the following roster:

SR PG Mike Moseley
FR(R) PG Daniel Rivers (We moved him over from SG)
SO SG Ron Williams (Going to RS)
JR SG Jace Hunter
JR SG Travis McMillian
JR SF Glenn Cornell
JR SF Larry McDyess
SO PF Kelvin Burton
SO PF Steve Spears
SR PF Brad Jackson
FR C John Morris (Going to RS)
FR(R) C Calvin Drew
JR C Chris Lee
SR C David Blackwell

Jace comes in rank #269 nationally by WSSN, and he wants PT a lot. He has the most positives out of all the recruites and his weakness is shot selection as he tends to shoot with a defender on him

Glenn is ranked #740 by WSSN and is willing to split the time and comes in with a solid jumpshot and uses his body to position for rebounds. His FT are only avg though, so we need to work with him there.

John is ranked #1633 nationally, but we didn't grab him for a lot other than his ability to get the ball at the post and shoot it, drawing the foul. BUT that comes at a cost of his FT being below avg. If we can keep the opposition in foul trouble, it opens our game up even more.

For the others signed.

Dan is ranked #1043 nationally by WSSN and we have yet to receive a report on him, but we will update at points throughout the season.

John is ranked #738 nationally and we will do the same here as Dan.

Some notes for the upcoming season

East Tennessee St. has joined the Southern Conference
Chicago St has joined the Summit League (They were an independent last season)

Our budget is the same as last year at $143,000 after all the coaches are paid we have $47,000 for recruiting.

I call the A.D. and set the same type of schedule up. I want good teams, and I want them at home.

Looking at all the transfers there are three players from the state of Utah I would love to try and get but unfortunately, I do not have any available scholarships for them. So this season we will pass on trying to grab a starter.

Also, we do not have anyone wanting to transfer.

Time to pull up the recruits and find out what we have going and who I can target.

We have 3 available scholarships, and looking at the roster we are losing

PG Mike Moseley
C David Blackwell
PF Brad Jackson
SG Ed Stanley

We in dire need of a PG it was a position I was trying to fill in the offseason, but I had a couple of SG's that we can use there. In fact I moved Dan Rivers over to the PG spot as the backup.

David Blackwell is a walk-on that played well as our starter last season at center and we are deep enough in the spot that we can do without having to recruit there. Jon Morris has helped there.

We will focus on PG, SF, PF this offseason.

We find some recruits that have some interest in us that we want to keep an eye on.

SF Sean Treacy HS SR from NM
C Sam Jolley HS SR from IN
PF Heikki Javonen HS SR from AZ
PG Dayne Ho HS SR from UT
SF Rob Nielsen HS SR from CA
PF Jeff Keady (JUCO) from UT

SF Stevie Love (JUCO) from AZ

PG Warren Ned (JUCO) from CA

PG Eddie Kennedy (JUCO) from UT

PF Chris Anthony HS SR from UT
PG Chris Cephas HS SR from UT
PG Jimmy Cox HS SR from UT
SF Matt Evans HS SR from UT
PG Damien Hughes HS SR from UT

Looking over my list and adding these gentlemen to our call and watch list is worth it. I am going to start working my way down the list.

I think I will only call this week and then when we hit Eval next week I will scout the ones I want.

I call Sean Treacy and he immediately tells me I am wasting my time and I ask him to give me 5 minutes and he does.I found out neither one of his parents attended college, they are pretty broke but he wants to t stay home close to his family.

After I hang up with Sean I figure I would call Dayne, he likes us a bit more, see where we stand and he was excited right from the get go, his parents have both graduated from Utah and BYU and they are very wealthy. Location and Playing Time are big for him.

Excited from that call I turn around and place a call to Rob Nielsen, both his parents attended San Diego St, they are wealthy, and his biggest deal is he wants PT.

Out of time for the calls, I write down the list of names I want the coaches to watch their game film on.

Sean Treacy
Dayne Ho
Rob Nielson
Sam Jolley
Heikki Javonen
Chris Anthony
Stevie Love
Jeff Keady
Warren Ned
Eddie Kennedy

I am hoping to get some great recruits this season.

Ahh, the Independence Day week, I get to enjoy some quality family time and then prepare to travel to the Georgia camp.

Onto the recruits...

We receive some information from some of them.

PG Dayne Ho - We found out we are #4 on his list.
PG Eddie Kennedy - He is excited about us, we will see.

Now trying to decide on how we want to approach this.

Right now, I feel we will invite the following to our campus.

PG Dayne Ho
PG Eddie Kennedy
SF Rob Nielsen

I call the following Players

PF Heikki Javonen - He lives with his mother and she did not attend college, they do not have a lot of money. He wants to stay close to home, but academics are major to him.

C Sam Jolley - He told me not to waste my time, I asked him for five minutes and he hung up on me. With how we judge him from game film, this guy is going to be playing on a national stage somewhere besides here.

PG Eddie Kennedy - Figured I better call him before giving him the invite. He lives with his dad, they don't have a lot of money. Playing close to home is his number one priority. We fit there as we are in his backyard.

SF Stevie Love - Parents attended NAU, they are wealthy and he is looking to play close to home. I think we might be able to swing him our way.

I send the assistants out to watch some live games, they are sent to see:

SF Stevie Love
PG Damien Hughes
SF Matt Evans

We also continue to watch game film on our remaining recruits.

Mondays, the days I always dread on a week following recruiting visits.

I launch the email and find...

Dayne Ho - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I enjoyed my visit. Your staff and players showed me a good time and you got a nice program going there. Talk to you soon.

Eddie Kennedy - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that I had an awesome time on my visit. I could definitely see myself on that campus. Talk to you soon.

Rob Nielsen - Coach - I just wanted to let you know that it was a cool visit. I like the campus and the people - it will be tough for me to make up my mind but I'll let you know when I do.

All three ended up positive for us. Which is amazing. And I am in a situation now, I know Eddie is into us big time, but I feel I must offer Dayne and Rob immediately.

I promptly call up Dayne and Rob and offer them immediately, and I also let them know I will be in the stands this week watching some of their games.

I want these kids to know that I want them here at UVSC.

Recruit Visits:

SF Sean Treacy - Declined our invite
PF Heikki Javonen

Phone Calls:

PG Chris Cephas - hard to read, we aren't in the mix right now, and I think he is looking at conference prestige as his major draw.

PG Damien Hughes - He wants PT and wants to be close to home.

Stevie Love enjoyed his visit while Heikki and Chris did not. It's a shame about Chris, if anything he was the extra PG I was hoping to get.

We are entering a dead period into recruiting where we can only call recruits and watch game film.

Based upon what I learned last year..

C Sam Jolley is off our list, but I think he will be playing for UNC, Indiana or somewhere like that, as his ratings are A,A,C,A,F,D,A,A,A,C,C,A The F coming in outside shooting. We are also taking PG Chris Cephas off of our list and Heikki Javonen.

I am going to call some of the recruits just to get a feel for them on the pitches.

PF Jeff Keady - Both of his parents graduated from Southern Utah so I already know who my competition is, however they do not have a lot of money. He wants to play close to home and wants PT. We are a lot close than Southern Utah.

PF Chris Anthony - His parents attended La Salles and Weber State. Location is his major factor with discipline being the other.

PG Warren Ned - Lives with only his mother and she is a graduate of Alabama, he does want to play close to home.

We watched game film on the rest of the recruits.

Currently at 2 Stars out of a 4 Star potential.

He has enough ability for me to give him a 2 minute rotation in each half, giving him around 4 minutes a game right now.

This weeks games are Fairfield and Charlotte....

Our scouting report on Fairfield:

Offensive Style - Fairfield runs a slow paced offense witha lot of freedom baskets. Half court is a balanced attack with a 5 out offense

Defensive Style - Press at points throughout the game. In the half court they primarily run a 2 -3 and when they pressure its man to man.

Their best player is their PG Josh Napier, whom we equal to on talent. Our SF Larry McDyess and our bench are rated better than theres.

Our Scouting report on Charlotte:

Offensive Style - Run a slow paced offense with some freedom baskets. Their half court offense is balanced with their primary set being the high post.

Defensive style - They rarely press but their man defense is man to man.

Their best player is PG Geoff Stallings, who comes off the bench. We have better SG and Bench play than they do, but their C play is better than ours.

Our Tactics this week:

We focus on the triangle for our offense, we are a bit faster paced, we want to force these teams to run with us, especially Charlotte.

Defensively, we are a man to man team, and will be happy with the slow tempo both these teams have.

Hell of a week, we go 2 - 0, and win pretty convincingly in both games.

Fairfield Game:

We were able to pull of the win, 68 - 57 with amazing play from our guards. Player of the game was SG Ed Stanley, 16 pts, 5 assists, 4 Rebs, 2 Blks, and 1 stl.

Jace Hunter saw 3 minutes of time and and picked up a steal, a rebound and hoisted a 3 and a jumpshot, missing both of them.

The bright surprise was our other recruit, SF Glenn Cornell who scored 15 points coming off the bench.

Charlotte Game:

A 75 - 67 win at home, and what a place the McKay Events center was. It was rocking and rolling and the guys got into the groove real quick. SG Ed Stanley did it again with 22 points. Glenn Cornell picked up 10 and Jace Hunter was a role player off the bench, he picked up 4 points, drew a shooting foul, had 2 rebounds a blocked shot and 2 assists.

Right now, the recruits are making me happy and the game play is pretty solid. And to top it all off, we had all 3 new recruits at the Charlotte game and right after the game, they all signed their LOI.

Looking to see how the other recruit who is playing is faring:

John Williams

IUPUI is 2 - 0 right now and John is averaging 12 ppg, 8 rgp, and 1 bpg

Heading into the next week we have two more games. We are at South Carolina St and Norfolk St.

Our Scouting reports for the two teams read:

South Carolina State
Offensively - A slow paced offense with a lot of freedom baskets. The sport an outside attack working through the high post.

Defensively - The press at points throughout the game. They are primarily a man to man team.

Their best player is PF Peter Street while our SG and Bench is stronger.

Norfolk State
Offensively - A normal paced offense with a lot of freedom baskets. Their attack is balanced and they work through the triangle offense.

Defensively - Rarely seem to press and primarily run out of a man to man.

Best player ia SF Kevin Adams. We are equal every position except for the bench where Norfolk gets the nod.

Out of the two games, Norfolk scares me, they resemble our play style to a T.

What a rough week, we went 0 - 2, and we had a major post game incident after one of the games I have to deal with immediately.

@ South Carolina State

A very dissappointing loss as we fell 69 - 78, Ed Stanley and Glenn Cornell were our bright spots here, the main issue here is, our 3's weren't falling. The difference in points were the difference of our missed 3's from our normal % from beyond (It would have been 3 more 3's). Jace dissappeared this game, I might give him some more PT as the other SG isn't doing to much.

Something wasn't jiving with the team and I do not know what it was.

@ Norfolk State

Again, the tension in the locker room was thick, I do not know what it is yet. I think I will find out tonight though. In fact, I see it effecting McDyess the most. We lost this one 72 - 79. Norfolk did what I would do if I played us, shut down Ed Stanley and force the rest of the players to beat us. Glenn got into foul trouble early, and started talking back to me and McDyess, I sat him and he only got 7 minutes of time in.

Jace stepped it up and scored 11 points, while his backup only scored 7, I think I will move him into the rotation as our backup SG.

Post Game Incident

Coach Forman pulled me aside when I got back from the post game press conference -

"Coach, we have us an issue"

"Tell me about it Forman, I am livid at Cornell right now, where does a snot nosed punk get off mouthing off to me and his position captain and a team captain?"

"Well, then your not going to like this one, a couple of the guys came to me and said that Cornell was mouthing off about Larry McDyess. He was saying the usual stuff about how you don't like him and we would be so much better if you played him instead."

"Really?"

"Yes coach, and I sensed it started to build last week because he played so well and McDyess is down, If we don't nip this it will divide the team."

"Well, it seems to me someone is to big for his britches, I will knock him down a notch."

Great, something I do not want to see happening but I will deal with promptly. Right now, I need to place two phone calls, one to Cornell, the other to McDyess.

I call McDyess up to talk with him about his attitude, trying to cheer him up, and then I bring up I want him to shoot a little more from the outside. He just didn't take to it.

I call Glenn Cornell

"Hey Glenn, this is Coach Thomas" I bring my serious daddy voice, he has to know I am pissed.

"Coach, whats going on?" You can hear a slight tremor in his voice.

"Well Cornell, you need to get one thing straight, McDyess is the captain of this team, you need to change your attitude and work with him."

"Whoa coach, I am not the one with the problem here, the other guys are throwing attitude towards me as well, I can't help if I have talent. Playing basketball is natural for me, I see the hoop I go to the hoop."

"Cornell, I can't have you fighing with the guys and most of all me. I sat you last game because of it, you know you have to listen."

"Sure thing coach, I will make the change, it might take me a bit, I was used to being top dog at my school."

"Hey as long as you make it happen soon, I am happy."

So there, I am hoping we have this problem out of the way. But the sad thing is, Glenn is right. He is playing better than McDyess and if it keeps this way I will be forced to make the change and I am worries it will kill McDyess.

This coming week we have 2 big games at home. Our scouting reports are:

Baylor
Offensively - Runs a normal paced offense running a lot of sets. They have a balanced attack triangle offense.

Defensively - They press at points throughout the game, and they are a man to man team.

Their Best player is SG Tim Barnes who we equal. McDyess is better than they are at SF but they have a C that is better than ours. The bench is equal.

Eastern Michigan
Offensively - Slow paced offense with a lot of freedom baskets. The sport a balanced attack working through a shuffle offense.

Defensively - They rarely press but prefer a man to man defense.

Best Player; SF Aaron Croom who McDyess matches up well with. We have the advantage on the Bench depth over them.

Both of these games are ones we can win. I am moving Jace to the 2nd SG spot, and adjusting our freedom to about 70% from 80%

Other Recruits

IUPUI PF John Williams is seeing 27 MPG and his stats are 11 ppg, shooting 54.5% from the field, 7 RPG and just under a block a game.

What a week, we lost to Baylor and barely won against Eastern Michigan.

Baylor 76 - 70

Not the kind of game at home we were hoping for. McDyess was non existent, which if he keeps it up, will be replaced by Cornell. We also suffered an injury, PF Steve Spears hurt his abdomen in this game. I felt it was a hard flagrant foul, they did not side with me on this one. Jace did ok in the backup role, I need to give him more minutes.

Eastern Michigan 63 - 65

Much better game, and a win at home. It was a team participation game as I was forced to go to the bench to get something going. They had an answer for everything we threw at them. The player of the game was SF Larry McDyess, 10 pts, 2 assists, 8 rebounds, and 1 steal. Jace had a bad game going 2-5 and commiting a critical foul and turnover.

We walk away this week without any post game incidents.

We have a couple of games this week as we travel to Miami to play the Hurricanes and then come back home against Troy. To be honest, I will gameplan this entire week for a win in Miami.

@ Miami

Miami's best player is their C Trevor Risenga but we are able to match him. We are actually equal everywhere except for the bench, and obviously they probably have guys who would start for us on the bench.

Offensively - They run a fast paced offense with some freedom primarily attacking the inside using a Triangle set.

Defensively - They are a pure man to man team.

I am almost wondering if we can stay with them in the fast paced set, or if I should slow this week down, to keep them from getting into their system.

Troy

Troys best player is PF Thomas Miller and he is above and beyond better than what we have to throw at him, the injury to Spears will hamper us here. However, our SG Ed Stanley is better than what Troy has. We are also equals on the bench.

Offensively - They run a normal paced offense with some freedom. They have a flex attack really gunning trying to get to the inside.

Defensively - They are pure man to man.

Troy is actually more of a harder one to gauge than Miami.

Other Recruits

PF John Williams
John is sitting at 11.3 ppg, 1.1 apg, 6.9 rpg, .6 spg, and .4 bpg. His best game of the season came on 12/3 against Saint Louis as he scored 20 points, 7 rebs, 5 assists, and 2 steals. That game brought him out of a 2 game single digit slump. He has been amazing up until the past 2 games. In fact he had 2 double doubles right out of the gate against Wisconsin-Green Bay and St. Marys (CA).

Next Week Moves

Looking at the numbers and such, Jace will officially get the backup SG slot this week and see his PT increase. Glenn is worth about 3 extra PPG but the downfall would be losing 7 RPG if I switched him with Larry, and I am not willing to do that. So Larry still gets the starting nod.

We are going to slow our offense down a bit this week, see if we can keep Miami out of rhythm and confuse both them and Troy.

Another week where we split 1-1, and it is probably just like you would think. One major turn of events happened this week, I watched someone I thought was a leader collapse in a big game, and then had someone else step up.

@ Miami 68 - 79

Yeah, it was that bad. We had a major dark spot, but we also found out who our players are. About half way through the first half I sub Cornell in pulling out McDyess. They had been rotating players on him, sending a little feisty SG at times, and he was frustrated, he wasn't hitting his shots.

As he was walking past me to sit on the bench, I try to talk to him.

"McDyess, where are you tonight?"

He just looks up at me, there is no fire in his eyes he has lost that will.

"We need you, you are the teams leader." again he says nothing, at this moment in time, I am reminded of the scene in Remember the Titans with Petey and how he gives up and walks away. Larry is doing the same here.

We go in at half time, I am not much of a pep talker, but we are down 44-36, and we need a solid game.

"Alright guys, it's time to step it up, they are killing us out there, they know Daniels passing rhythm and have been grabbing the ball there, We need to take the game to them."

The fire worked a bit, we did go in to the second half on fire and Juniors Glen Cornell and Chris Lee took the game over for us. However, their bench out played ours and the 1st half deficit was to much for us.

Troy 60 - 80

What a return home, I spoke with Larry on the plane flight, I don't think he is ever going to be the same, so I notify Glenn he is going to get the start.

Glenn Cornell rewards me with a 15 point game, but the bright spot is how well everyone else played. Jace poured in 9 points hitting a trey (We are not taking many right now). We dominated their bench and the second half. Outscoring them 46 - 27.

This was a team effort from top to bottom and I let them all know that. Meanwhile, Glenn and Chris are becoming a strong force in the locker room and we have zero issues.

Next Week Scouting

Well, we have UAB and Texas Southern coming in this week.

UAB

Their best player is PF Casey Jordan but David Blackwell can handle him. We dominate them at the SG,SF and bench.

Offensively - UAB rns a fast paced offense with some freedom. They sport an inside attack using the shuffle offense.

Defensively - They are generally a man to man team. However when they begin to pressure they are a 1-2-11 full court press team.

Texas Southern

Their best player is PG Tim Flanders and he is going to control the game quite effectively. Daniel Rivers will have his hands full, I hope he is up to the task. Chris Lee is in the same situation, but our SG and SF are able to control their end of the game. Meanwhile our bences are about equal.

Offensively - It's a normal paced offense with some freedom. They are a balanced team running the princeton.

Defensively - they are a pure man to man team.

Other Recruits
PF John Williams IUPUI
He is still playing well, however he has dropped at the PPG leve. His stats are: 10.1 PPG, 1.3 APG, 6.9 RPG, .6 SPG, .4 BPG

New Mexico controlled him last game offensively, he was the force on the boards though.

Next Week Moves

I am going to try and favor outside shooting this week, our SGs, SFs, and PGs all are amazing at it and we have the talent to try and get the rebounds. I am going to adjust the crash boards to a 10.

What a great week going 2-0 at home. And the Cornell and Lee show is starting to notch it up some.

UAB 80 - 91 WIN

Favoring the outside worked better than I thought it would. It got everyone involved, which is what we needed. Glenn Cornell again takes Player of the Game with 22 pts, 2 rebs, and 2 blocks. He is making me look like a recruiting genius right now. Larry is accepting the backup role pretty well and is willing to follow the young guns, as he had 8 pts and a steal, but he went 2-2 beyond the arc. Jace Hunter was one I hopped this would benefit, but teams must have known he is our trey threat, but he was beating people of the dribble and popping the jump shot quickly. He managed 8 points as well. Chris Lee and Daniel Rivers both scored double digits and Daniel was one assist away from the double double.

Texas Southern 67 - 86 WIN

Another solid outing by Glenn Cornell as he takes player of the game again. 30 points, 2 assists, 2 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal.

Larry disappeared this game, but Chris Lee and Daniel Rivers were both double digit scorers and Daniel is turning into a passing force as he had 6 more assists. Again, they rushed to stop Jace from hitting the 3 where he went 1-4, but he did score 9 points. A very solid win, and we are on fire.

Next Week Scouting

Only 1 game next week but we are welcoming a big team in Boston College to the McKay Events Center.

#22 Boston College

Their best player is C Reece Adams and he dominates there. It looks like they also dominate us at the PG and SG spot with us being equals every where else.

Offensively - They run a normal paced offense with some freedom. It's their motion offense that is very well balanced that is the dangerous aspect here.

Defensively - They are a full man to man team.

Other Recruits

PF John Williams IUPUI
He is in a bit of a scoring slump right now. 9.8 PPG, 1.1 APG, 6.6 RPG, .7 SPG, .5 BPG

Next Weeks Moves

Our PF play hasn't been the best. Brad Jackson isn't being to productive. Spears has a better inside game and jumpshot so I am going to move him to the starter.

No expenses spared here, going to roll right into the breakdown of the BC game.

#22 Boston College 74 - 66

A heartbreaking loss as we were in this game, only going in down by 3 at the half. But we were dominated everywhere, our only double digit scorer was SG Edward Stanley. Glenn only scored 5 points but was in foul trouble all game. Jace Hunter had only 4 points and missed his three point shot for the game. Between Glenn and Larry their SF did not score at all. But ther PF, C, SG murdered us.

Next Week Scouting

We now roll into our conference, well independents games. Our goal was 15 wins, I feel if we can get over that closer to the 18 win mark we have a chance at the 64 or NIT.

Winston Salem State

Looks like an even game all around, their best player is SG Albert Cox.

Offensively - They run a fast paced offense with not a lot of freedom baskets, meaning we will see a lot of sets. They do have a balanced attack and run a shuffle style offense.

Defensively - In the half court they primarily run a 3-2 zone, however when they need to pressure or go full court, we will see a man to man.

@ NJIT

The Highlanders best player is SF Robert Henry but Glenn and Larry are both up to the task. It truly appears to be an even game all around except for their bench, which I feel is a touch better than ours.

Offensively - Normal paced offense with some offensive freedom. They have a balanced attack coming out of the flex sets.

Defensively - They are mainly a man to man team, but to throw things off when they pressure it's a 2-2-1 full court press.

Other Recruits

PF John Williams IUPUI
John is still in his slump, his averages have not gone up or down from last week.

Next Weeks Moves

I am going to leave Spears in at PF again this week, If he under performs Jackson gets the start again. We are going to stick to favor the outside, see if we can get somethings going.

Wow, it looks like I had no chance with Sam Jolley and Heikki. But as I have said before, Dayne and Rob were major wins for me. Rob will see some time at SF behind Glenn next season and then roll into the starter while Dayne will be the man guiding this team.

What an emotional roller coaster week. We go 1-1 through the week, but seriously my emotions were played with.

Winston Salem State 45 - 68

Wow, talk about a lock down in the second half. We only allowed them 18 points in the second.

SG Ed Stanley took was awarded player of the game with 13 points, 9 Rebs, 1 Block and 3 Steals. It could have gone to Glenn as well. He had 13 points, 5 Rebs, 1 Assist, and 2 Blocks.

Jace Hunter decided he wanted to be a gamer and rocked it with 12 points, 2-5 from the 3 pt line, getting a block and steal.

This game has my hopes up and we are riding on cloud nine.

@ NJIT 79 - 61

A combination of a long cross country trip and a team that was high on themselves came crashing down. We were purely dominated in every aspect of this game. The only bright spots in this game was the SF play. Glenn scored 23 points while Larry scored 11, that is half our points in the game. The rest of the team was out to lunch, and i let them know it at half, at the end of the game, on the bus ride to the airport and on the plane flight home.

Other Recruits

PF John Williams IUPUI
John is on an upswing, but still has yet to push his averages up.
9.5 PPG, 1.1 APG, 5.8 RPG, .8 SPG, .5 BPG

Next Week Scouting
We have an easier week as Longwood is coming to town to play us. We are sitting at 7 - 6 and I feel we need to rattle off 11 wins off in the next 14 games in order to make any kind of post season tourney.

Longwood

Their best player is C Jonathan Henderson which is heads above better than Chris Lee. I feel Chris is going to have his hands full this game. We are equal in the other positions and we have the deeper bench.

Offensively - They run a slow paced offense with a lot of freedom baskets. They focus on a balanced offense coming out of the Princeton set.

Defensively - They are a man to man team all the way around.

Next Week Moves

We are still going to favor the outside. Jackson is going to go back to starting at the PF spot, With Spears backing him up. We will keep it as a pretty much Freedom style offense coming out of the Triangle.

Excuse me? Playing BEHIND someone?

Rob Nielsen only plays behind naked women.

LOL, well Glenn Cornell became a force, something I wasn't expecting. And in fact he has been a scorer in big games was a shocker. We will see how you pan out coming into the season.

Not a bad week as we pull the W out and put us one step closer to post season play.

Longwood 73 - 82

Our player of the game was a surprise as PG Daniel Rivers decided he wanted to be a part of our scoring offense. 19 pts, 2 assists, 5 rebs and 1 steal.

Glenn scored 10 points but had me on his ass for all of the 3 pointers he was hoisting up (10). Jace is our better 3 point shooter and he went 2-2 from beyond the arc. Brad Jackson scored his 10 points and Ed Stanley was just a workhorse and did everything that was needed to win.

Other Recruits

PF John Williams IUPUI
John is still teetering waiting to bust out of his slump, he had a 10 point game and a 5 point game this week. But his rebounds are where he is helping the most.

Next Week

We have 2 games coming up, and we need to close them both out. It's getting fun as the guys are enjoying things and the chemistry in the locker room is great.

@ Presbyterian

Their best player is PG Gerald Williams but Donald Rivers is up to the task of handling him. We have the better talent at SG and SF, but we are equal with them every where else.

Offensively - They run a normal paced offense that is structured, not allowing a lot of freedom. The attack from the outside and run it out of the Princeton.

Defensively - They are a pure man to man team.

Savannah State

We are looking at competing against a talented center in Andrew Ostler, in fact looking at the scouting report, Savannah has us in the PG, PF, and C spots, we beat them in the SG and are equals with the SF and bench play.

Offensive - They run a normal paced offense with a some offensive freedom. They sport a balanced attack out of a motion offense.

Defensive - They are a pure man to man team.

Recruit News
Recruit Sean Treacy called us and let us know we were on his short list, I informed him he would have to walk on, and if he was looking for a scholarship, we do not have one available right now.

I hate to say it, when you tell us to kiss off, we go else where fast.

Next Weeks moves

We are not making any drastic moves.

Wow what a week, an intense game on the road and a big one at home. And yes, we were able to walk away with wins from both games. However, the one that was supposed to a cake walk for us went into OT.

@ Presbyterian 100 - 89

SG Ed Stanley walks away with the Player of the game honors and a double - double. He had 16 points, 5 assists, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks and 2 steals. C Chris Lee was his doubles partner as he pulled down 11 points and 11 rebounds. Glenn pulled another 16 points and again our little PG has some attitude as he dropped 16 points as well.

A seldom used SG Travis McMillan hurt himself in the second half in his 2 minutes on the court, He strained his quad and will be out for about 13 games.

Savannah St 73 - 81

I can see it now, a new advertising campaign for the rest of the season: "The Little Point Guard Who Could". Daniel Rivers is on fire still as we walk away with the win and he has the player of the game honors with 18 points, 5 assists, 2 rebounds, and a block.

Glenn dropped 19 and Jace hunter added another 9. Jace is also 31% 3 pt shooter right now. He has nailed some key 3's for us.

Other Recruits
PF John Williams IUPUI
Alright, John is back in his old form scoring 19 and 8 points but getting double digit rebounds in both games.

Next Week

We have another 2 games next week, and I feel they are going to get tougher as we start building that bullseye on our back. Right now we are sitting at 10 - 6, our RPI is 194. Memphis is ranked 25th and sitting at 12 - 5, I know we are not that far off, but I know this much, win out and we are going to the big dance, lose a game and it's the NIT.

@ North Carolina Central

North Carolina has a solid defender and free throw shooter in PF Tremain Boyce, and they follow that up with their C Vidal Jacobs. However we are able to counter with SF Glenn Cornell and SG Ed Stanley.

Offensively - They run a faced paced offense that generates some freedom baskets. They sport a balanced attack using the motion offense.

Defensively - They are a pure man to man team.

Texas Pan American

Their best player is C Jimmy Burns. However we have a deeper bench. This game scares me, and I am happy to be playing this one at home.

Offensively - They run a normal paced offense with some freedom baskets. They have a balanced attack and run it out of a high post offense.

Defensively - They are a pure man to man team.

Next Week Moves
Travis is now out of the lineup for 8 more days giving Jace additional time on the floor. But we are going to keep our offensive focus on favor outside. Especially with the big guys at North Carolina and Texas.
