Nationally televised season opener. Defending champs Phoenix at home against Candace Parker and the LA Sparks.
There have been 4 triple-doubles in the 11 year history of the WNBA (5 if you count Sheryl Swoops in the playoffs some years ago...and yes, I had to look it up)
Parker is 4 assists away from a triple-double in her first game....against the defending champs, heading into the 4th quarter. We shall see.
Quite a start to her career, I'd say.

Parker is very impressive today. If she continues to improve, she can definitely dominate the game for awhile...and maybe put more people in the seats.

For real. She's making it look easy. Even with the physical adjustments, she's still putting up close to 30 and 2 assists away from the triple-double. I'd love to see her get it.
It's a good, close game. The league has improved a lot over the years.
It'd be great if they could get more fans and start paying them more so they don't have to go overseas and come back here tired and worn out at the start of the year.

Parker has been all over LA since she was drafted. Coupled with Leslie, it probably will be an effective combo

And while Candace was putting on her show, former UT teammate Alexis Hornbuckle tied a Detroit franchise record with seven steals in her WNBA debut.
Talk about picking up where you left off, sheesh.
Next Sunday we'll be at Phillips Arena for our first WNBA game in person, as LA visits the very expansion looking Atlanta Dream (losers 100-68 at Connecticut in their regular season opener).
