Seriously, why is Diet Coke still in business? Coke Zero tastes better and has zero calories. Basically, anyone that drinks Diet Coke is because they are on a diet or trying to watch their weight, so why don't just switch to Coke Zero?

Zero, since i tasted it i can no longer stand the Diet flavor. I even prefer Zero to standard coke, that i find too sweet.

I was kind of dissapointed C2 didn't survive. I thought it tasted pretty good, and it had about half the calories of regular coke. That and Pepsi Edge.

Someday I wish Coke/Pepsi would actually make a sugar sweetened beverage again. Don't feel so bad about the calories if they aren't coming primarily from HFCS.

I don't drink regular coke for two reasons: one is obviously the insane amount of sugar (which I guess means I prefer cancer over diabetes) and the other is because it just tastes too sweet for me.

Coke zero, therefore, also tastes too sweet for me. If Diet Coke was abandoned I'd make the switch to Diet Pepsi, or stock up on Diet Sunkist.

Yeah, I don't know anyone who doesn't think Pepsi (any flavor, diet or not) is sweeter than Coke.

Coke Zero all the way her.

If Pepsi is on sale that week, I'll go with a Diet Pepsi Max.
Diet Pepsi Max is a zero-calorie (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calorie), sugar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sugar)-free, carbohydrate (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carbohydrate)-free, ginseng (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ginseng)-infused cola (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cola), marketed by PepsiCo (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PepsiCo%2C_Inc.). It has nearly twice the caffeine of Pepsi's other cola beverages.

Aspartame gives me a horrible headache for some reason, but from the one I did taste...Coke Zero tasted better than Diet Coke.

Although, I will add....I'm a RC drinker most of the time. Just think it tastes better than Coke/Pepsi.

I'm a long-time Diet Coke drinker, not for the caloric benefits, but because regular Coke was too sugary and left a gritty film on my teeth. I grew to hate the taste of Coke.

Between Diet Coke and Coke Zero, they're both about the same nutritionally, but in my experience, Coke Zero tastes exactly like regular Coke (which I think was sorta the point). So I hate it.

I've never gotten into any of the diet/zero drinks. I stand by regular old Coke. I just don't drink it more than once or maybe twice a week. I'd rather have water than diet stuff.

My drink of choice now, though, is an Arnold Palmer - half lemonade, half iced tea.

I am f'in addicted to coke zero. It'll probably turn out about 5 years from now that the sugar substitute in it causes your testicles to shrink.

I didn't like Diet Coke because I thought it had this weird aftertaste.

That would be the artificial sweetener (usually saccharin or sucralose). They put that stuff into just about anything that is "Diet" or "Sugar Free" and it absolutely sucks. It's the first thing I look for on the ingredients for drinks because I hate that aftertaste.

It's the additional use of acesulfame potassium (or "Ace-K") that has created the taste revolution in artificial sweeteners (at least in the eyes of many of us) lately. Coke Zero, for instance, is still using aspartame (not saccharin or sucralose) as the primary sweetener, but by combining it with ace-K, it substantially removes the aspartame aftertaste to many tasters, and approaches the taste of regular coke.

A fair number of other diet drinks are now using the combination, but I honestly haven't found any others that have made as obvious progress in taste as Coke Zero and the flavored versions of the same. I like Diet Barq's as well, but I never thought it had a particularly bad aftertaste even before they started adding ace- K in the last year or two.

They have released now at least in Spain, Fanta zero, lemon and orange flavors and they really nailed the original tastes with those, i can't notice any difference with the sugar ones.

A few years ago they had some amazing flavors of Fresca. Peach and Cherry, I think. They didn't last as long as they should have.

And my all time favorite niche beverage is Ruby Red Squirt. You can only find that certain places.

You want an absolutely terrible Zero product, try Powerade Zero. Try combining thirst-quenching with that horrible aftertaste. (It was so bad I actually looked at the ingredients and realized Salt was 4th. SO much for hydration.)

Ever heard of salt tablets? Salt helps you retain water and not become dehydrated...

Diet Coke will be around for a long time, though. Lots of people got used to the taste. Coke Zero, for instance, tastes too sweet to Mrs. A.

I dunno if you let the kids have an occasional soda, but with Pepsi Max you really have to watch cause it has a ton of caffeine. Winds them up way too much, and can keep them up all night.

Actually shorty this is not totally correct. I have to drink sugar free soft drinks due to a mild diabetic condition. So its not just about dieting. That said I definitely prefer coke and cherry coke zero, they simply taste better. Diet coke suxors.

Salt does NOT help keep you hydrated, salt in the body actually holds onto moisture, keeping it from being used as its needed. All the athletic drinks from gatorade on down contain large amounts of some salts that are needed by the body for muscle performance and brain function.
