Anyone have/installed the tubular skylights, made by Solatube or Volex or others? I am just wondering if they worked out they way you had hoped, have had any problems, provide the light you wanted?
Our 'main area' of our home is basically one great room, with our family room flowing into the dining area flowing into the kitchen. We basically get very little sun light into this area. We have one window in the kitchen, and then a glass door planked by two large windows about the same size of the door. The problem is we have a covered patiothat goes that whole distance, and an addition to the house that blocks the sun even coming straight into the patio from the east.
So we don't get crap for light and often have the lights on in the house during the day. The same goes for our hallway off of this area going to the bedrooms. I am looking at installing (something I am not real experienced at but oh well :p ) about 4-5 of these skylights eventually. I plan on starting with one in the kitchen first, just to test out my installing and the skylights performance. Will probably order one in the next couple days as we make some changes to the house now that I am home.
