Not sexy, but very much a sex symbol. I think we'll only know who is on the top of that list when we compare all 10 against each other.

I was torn on the category here, but I think it's a new direction for the "No-Talent" category, even if she would have fit well in "Appeals to Older Men." Her "Talent" is on par with models, who have also been taken here. However, there are only so many rich but talentless people that can be selected before the selections become watered down.

I'm going with the crowd here. I assume the intent of the no talent pick was something completely different but I also assume when this comes up for voting and people look and see a bunch of supermodels in this category not many will penalize for it. We'll see though!

Shania is a personal preference one to me. I'd actually PM'd a list earlier w/ someone else and decided against it. I *love* Shania and figure she'll count well enough up against other singers that aren't Madonna and Elvis.
I think Katerina Witt is a spectacular choice. Just a stunningly beautiful woman, her playboy spread was one that I looked forward to more than any other ever when I heard about it.

I think Shania is a solid "second tier" "sex symbol" in the music industry. She was, by far, the sex symbol in country music for a number of years. I don't think she's Madonna or Elvis, but a solid pick nonetheless.

Shania was a heck of a pick, and Witt was solid too. Still have another in mind for singer.
And...Seka? Really?? You'd think you might have...oh right, I guess I can't name them yet. But at least pick an American here. :)

I am sick of the media making female sports atheletes into super models when they're clearly 6's at best. I don't need to be told how hot Danica Patrick is. Do you really think she's beautiful? I interpret that to be completely different, as in older men now (and how one defines 'old'). I think you can pick anyone that guys over 30 would like, including boomers (like Farrah), as oppose to what the kids like (Scarlett). Going back to the 40s or 50s would be really old men, which means nothing to nearly everyone here - including me, dammit. Like in all drafts, if you want to win, you go with what will get the votes here.

She's definitely a bigger sex symbol right now than many of the other athletes taken, IMO. A lot of that is marketing and media creation, sure, but such is life.

10. Fictional (Theatrical) - Mimi - Rent (10.1)
Whether it's Rosario Dawson in black leather in the film version or Daphne Rubin-Vega in the original stage production, this is one sexy character, with "Out Tonight" a sassy siren's song and "Light My Candle" a number that illustrates exquisitely Mimi's sublimely seductive side.

This concludes the FOFC Sex Symbol Draft! Thanks to everybody for participating. I will be creating a thread shortly for the board to vote on the winning team.
A couple of notes: My intent for the categories was as follows. Celebrity no-talent, I had in mind obviously Paris Hilton, also maybe somebody like Tara Reid, possibly somebody like Jenna Bush or Jackie O. Appeals to younger/older men/women - For younger men and women I really meant underage men and women, teenyboppers. I maybe should have clarified the categories better before the draft. Also fictional (literary) I thought would get 8-10 comic book characters instead of just 1.

When I took Amanda Beard I said that there were 2 athletes I was considering that both clearly have sex symbol status, Amanda Beard + 1 other that I can't stand at all and have zero attraction to... Reese was the other option there.
In hindsight, I wish I had taken Sasha Cohen, just so I could have posted this picture:

Tanith Belbin is better looking, though not as well known. I'm a little surprised nobody selected any of the golf hotties (Gublis or Creamer). If you wanted to go back a ways, Chris Evert might have been solid. If you wanted to stretch the definition, go wrestling with someone like Stacy Keibler.
Other thoughts on ones that were missed.
No-Talent: Anna Nicole Smith might have qualified, and folks like Kim Kardashian.
Singers: Alizee, anyone? For male, maybe types like Julio Iglesisas, Tom Jones, even Sinatra in his prime. Susanna Hoffs and Janet Jackson would have been better than Cher.
Literary: well, as for comic books, yeah you could have picked Starfire, or better Vampirella. Cleopatra or Fanny Hill if you want to get really literary. Or going way back, Salome (seven veils, etc).
On the young side as women go, Kristin Bell is pretty cute. As for all-time, maybe Jane Fonda, Ann-Margret. Oh, and HAS ANYONE NEVER HEARD OF FRIGGIN BRIGITTE BARDOT??? I mean come on, people.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_God_Created_Woman_(1956_film)
When the film was released in the United States by distributor Kingsley-International Pictures in 1957, it pushed the boundaries of the representation of sexuality in American cinema, making Bardot an overnight sensation. It was condemned by the Catholic League of Decency. To this day, the scene of Bardot dancing barefoot on a table is considered by some to be one of the most erotic scenes in the history of cinema.[1]
Go either the starlet or the role, either one. Other roles that might have worked? Could have used Cleopatra here too (or Liz Taylor). Or Sherilyn Fenn in Two Moon Junction, a couple of Pam Grier roles, maybe even Henstridge in Species. I think the obvious choice was Emmanuelle.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emmanuelle
The name Emmanuelle (and its various spelling permutations) has gone on to become synonymous with erotic film.
I know it's Wiki...but SYNONYMOUS. WITH. EROTIC. FILM. Good grief.

I don't know who Belbin, Gublis or Creamer are.
No-Talent: Anna Nicole Smith might have qualified, and folks like Kim Kardashian.
Both were on my list. Anna Nicole-Smith took too much of a plunge later in life for me to pick her. Kim Kardashian just seems like the "latest and greatest" Paris Hilton, and I did not want to split the "Rich but talentless" sex symbol vote.
Singers: Alizee, anyone? For male, maybe types like Julio Iglesisas, Tom Jones, even Sinatra in his prime. Susanna Hoffs and Janet Jackson would have been better than Cher.
I have no idea who Alizee is. I agree on the other points. I think for men Prince is a great selection for our generation, but maybe I'm biased. ;)
Literary: well, as for comic books, yeah you could have picked Starfire, or better Vampirella. Cleopatra or Fanny Hill if you want to get really literary. Or going way back, Salome (seven veils, etc).
Another biased opinion, but I think Wonder Woman was the clear top comic book character and after that you're just riding the coattails of a great selection. ;)
Liz Taylor was also on my list, but I think Sophia Loren has held up better over time.

I thought of Bardot and surprised she was not taken. I think 1/2 the voters are going to go with the 'Who would I like to bang right here, right now' and didn't think.. 'Ok.. who did my Dad want to bang 25 years ago...'
My interpretation of the category is "Who would my Dad like to bang right now that is in his generation."

cuervo I was also going to go with Gublis (she was my first thought) but I figured not many would know her as a woman golfer.

As for going with what pre-teens might find sexy, I think that would have been too uhh... potentially creepy. I just used 2 ages.. around age 25 and then all-time for the older.
