I think my router is kaput.
For the last few days, I have not been able to get my router to connect to the internet. I can connect my PC to the Router fine (I figure since I can access it), but when I go to Setup, all of the internet settings (IP and DNS) at 00.00.00.00 with the Subnet Mask at 255.255.0.0 (or something like that).
Whenever I hit DHCP Renew, it blinks and comes back the same (when it usually comes back with an IP and DNS settings). When I connect the cable from the modem directly to my PC, I get the internet just fine, so I figure the problem is with the router.
Does it sound like my router is kaput or do you think Camcast is doing something nefarious against router users? :)

Follow up question - If I got a new router that is Wireless-G, will my PCs with Wireless-B cards connect to it?

Did you unplug / reboot the router?

I unplugged all of the wires and hit the reset button in every possible order about a dozen times over.

What type of router is this?
It could be the NIC on the router just crapping out, which does happen sometimes, but otherwise it sounds like either
a) Your router is setup to be used in a manual ip address/subnet setup...and if thats the case your ip address/subnet needs to be re-entered manually(and this address would be provided to you by Comcast and/or should have been setup when they originally installed it)
b) Your router had been somehow globally reset and requires quite a bit of reconfig for your ports(depending on the type of router, could be minimal if just consumer grade, not sure if thats a good assumption).
c) The NIC port has been fried somehow. I do not know that you can "fix" this easily if it is a cheap router...if it's a more commercial or higher grade, you should have a spare or other port you can reconfigure to work as your primary interface to the net.
Not much help there...but maybe it helps to spark an idea depending on the type of router.

Have you unplugged your cable modem as well? The cable modem will "remember" what device it was plugged into and it will only work with that until it power cycles. This could be why it works with your PC and not the router if you haven't rebooted both.
Failing that, there should be a small reset button on the router somewhere. Reset the router to factory defaults, power everything down, and then power back up. Comcast should just work with pretty much every home router I've seen right out of the box.

I've done that as well.

Well, it wasn't the router. *sigh*
I'm starting to REALLY hate computers and all technology...

It seems I have found a way around the problem. I cloned my PC's MAC address on the router, and then it connected fine. Not going to question it or investigate.....it is working and that's all that matters.
